I haven't seen anything called scene select? Does it have a different name in the menus or is it a underlying setting that just happens?

Scene select allows you to have multiple settings on tap per input and will be missed if it is no longer used.
Say you have all your bluray, playstation, cable box etc running through an amp to hdmi input one you would tap options and it would be the first input to select. You could store tv, cinema, sport and game picture settings and switch between them with ease

Yeah I haven't seen that. But then again I haven't been looking for it. Also there is an update coming that might enable that. There are a couple buttons on the remote when pushed say not available yet.

Edit: Looked though the manual online and did a search function and nothing came up for scene select.

Went to BB w/hopes of seeing this and they only had the 850C on display. Looked good with 4K feed but it was truly difficult to see the difference from the 850B below it. So, to my eyes with 4K it was difficult to attest to "X1" improvements.

They had the 75X940C at warehouse but none on display and so the Mag Rep said to me viewing the 85" 950B how would you like to get that $20K PQ for $8K as he insisted that is you'll get only at 75". Fact is that 85" running 4K was easily the best panel in the store when combining that immense size with it's PQ and Blacks. I'm hoping he's right.

Saw the LG OLED 65" and yes it has pure black bars and deep blacks to contrast I also saw several things that were troubling as it played BD Guardians - I saw a lot of black crush in dark scenes and when movement occurred I saw blurring with a lack of sharp details. If black bars gets you off then it's a winner but blurred details or black crush suck and I believe Sony's processing will surpass those shortcomings with better shadow details. Perhaps the OLED will outperform with animation cartoons but I feel Sony wins with Film details. If Sony ever truly tackles OLED they'll have a winner. Samsung JS9500 was also impressive but the 78" price is insane for now.

Looking forward to Carlos postings soon when he gets a healthy delivery.

I took a few shots but they're far too large to attach here, so heads up if you have low bandwidth: http://1drv.ms/1Etuhrn

Which pictures do you consider #7 and #8 ? By my count that would be the one with the animated chick holding a strawberry and the one with a bunch of dudes in black ninja-armor. I can't see any clouding or flashlighting in either, though there are some room reflections that may look (or may be) flaghlighting in the upper left corner in the ninja photo.

What should I be looking for?

the pictures are numbered! its pretty obvious! 7 and 8

he has flashlighting in 3 of 4 corners. the upper right is the only corner that looks decent.

I would say it's pretty effective. The black levels are pretty amazing as long has you have all the settings correct. As it crushes blacks real easy or can wash them out real easy.

I almost returned the TV due to the issue where it tries to auto correct the black levels. You can actually see the TV trying to brighten and dim. It was really annoying. It still does it slightly but it's much better once you turn all the darkening settings off except the local dimming settings. If you turn that off the blacks are horrible.

its probably your monitor then. make sure you have your backlight turned up decently so its not "darkening" the picture which would then hide the light issues in the pictures.

I have to admit I don't see any flashlighting either. I thought maybe it was my laptop so I went downstairs and enlarged the photos on my calibrated monitors and still don't see anything.

I pulled the photos up on my iPad to get a second source view, and I still don't see it. There'a reflection of a window with some venetian blinds in the upper left quadrant of both photos, and the reflection from the flash in his camera, but that's all I see. The black letterbox bars are maybe half a shade lighter than the total black of the frame of the TV.

In the ninja photo the dude at the front of the left (closest to the screen) has some noise in his blackness, but I was thinking that's a source issue.

I see the reflections too, it's a separate issue than the flashlighting.

I just pulled the photos up on my phone (galaxy s6), it's a lot harder to see it on my phone, I had to zoom in and specifically know where to look to spot it. The pictures look alot blacker on my phone then my laptop, so I'm not sure which to believe tho I can see the flashlighting in pic 8 on my phone still.

I'll take your word for it, but it's too minor for me to see. There's a hell of a lot less light bleed into the letterbox bars than on my CRT RPTV.
