Since I can't find any official thread for this model, starting one right now.

Feature highlights :

Curved
4K Ultra HD
UHD Dimming

6700/6600/6670 all belongs to same model, just different design variants.

Let's use this thread to share everything related to this model.

To start with, I bought this tv last week, ju6670 variant in India, the model came up for sale recently. Found it quite satisfactory, hence brought it.

The smart remote is good, but the centre button is kinda feeble. Is it the same for everyone?

Bought the 6700 4k 65in curved last week and I am running it through the Onkyo
Receiver and cox HD cable DVR. Out of the box the pic settings seemed very close but I tweaked the contrast, brightness, sharpness. The curved seems to trap the glare in our room that has alot of natural light in. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to deal with the glare, we dont want to close all the blinds just to watch tv. I have put the eco light sensor to ON, it says it helps to dim or lighten up the set.

I bought Avatar and Pirates of C DVD way back when they came out, is there a THX
Video calibration program on those discs or should I buy something else?

Also, is there any other 4k content out there besides the few netflix has to offer? Not a Direct tv subscriber..cox cable.

Thanks in advance
Tom in AZ

I picked up a JU6700 yesterday, the third 4K I have tried.
So far I like it a lot more than the Seiki SE39UY04 or the HU6950, but as always, the jury will be out until I get all modes dialed in the way I like them.

It's equal or superior as a computer monitor than the HU6950.

The curved design seems less weird on this 40" model.

The remote and top menus are definitely much improved over the HU6950.

I'll have more details to post in the next few days.

New firmware update version available, brings the version to 1314 from. 1310, haven't seen any notable improvement apart from faster reading of USB drives

I tried to start one last month. No joy.
65JU6700 purchased 5 weeks ago.Liked settings out of box.Still doing slight tweaking.Working on minor clouding. No problems with glare-right next to double windows. You tube 4k is good,Netflix is ok.Upscaling on this tv is great in my opinion.A new dimension in viewing.

I got my UN65JU6700 about two weeks ago. I have it hooked to my computer. Able to get chroma 4:4:4@60hz np. I've streamed 4k for usual sources, Netflix, Amazon, Youtube, and M-GO. M-Go, I've only streamed Sin City 2, but it was brilliant. Amazon is meh, Netflix is better, and Youtube varies. I also see that Ultraflix is no longer available on their App store. Ultraflix said it was working with Samsung to fix this issue since their last firmware update made their app glitch out. So I haven't tried Ultraflix yet.

M-Go also has a download service available. I only just started using it. It's costly for one movie(~$30) and they only have about 19 of them, but the quality is much better than streaming the movies. Just takes a bit to download. About 2hrs for me, but I have 100mbps internet. You also need a compatible "Vidity" hard drive to connect to your tv for it to work. I have 2 hdds. The first I got from best buy. It's the Samsung UHD movie pack 2. That drive was not compatible for whatever reason. I just bought the WD 1tb Cinema HDD and it works perfectly. Not much of a selection to download but good if you got spare time, bandwidth, and cash to hold you over til UHD blurays come out. They said you can fit about 13 movies onto one 1tb. Drive was $90. There are preloaded movies on the drive, but you have to PAY to unlock them. Which is $30 still. It just saves you the time of downloading them. I guess it's the better alternative of $400 for a 1tb hdd and a bunch of movie **** sandwiches you may or may not want.

Also just updated my firmware to 1221. Just release on July 20th, 2015. You have to download it to flash drive to update. Not on their servers yet to auto update. Haven't noticed any drastic improvements, but it's nice to be fully updated.

we just purchased a 6700 two days ago. we couldn't get onto netflix so we called netflix, did a whole bunch of tests, and then we were sent to samsung.
samsung tech support helped us do a factory reset, but that did not resolve the netflix issue. we can't even get on youtube. when we try to play videos from youtube, we get the same text based message each time, as if from a hacker. I don't recall what the text says but it's like a quote from a book or something.

this isn't my tv, but my families and so far, it's be a huge upset.

Wondering why our thread is very inactive, is the user base of 6700 that low?

Either those of us that bought one have no questions or only a few of us own one.None of the 8500,9000,9500 owners would look at this thread because we are not on their level. We just have a low priced bottom of the line tv with a great picture and best color I've ever seen.

People in the 8500, 9000 and 9500 are more concern with HDR and getting it to work properly with MGO. I've had no problems with just UHD downloaded content from them. I just wish Ultraflix would be brought back to the app store. Would love to see Interstellar in 4k.

all in all,had my 6700 over 2 months and am very happy with it.A new cable fixed my sound problem.Would like to get rid of apps I don't use on "my apps" but have not found a way yet.
See prices have dropped several hundred dollars but I was fortunate to pay a very low price due to military privileges earned over 20 years and for what the 6700 produces in picture and smart-you can't beat beat the going rate.

[Edit]SOLVED: I had to enable the UHD Color setting for the HDMI1 port. Confirmed 4K@60Hz with 4:4:4 on the Samsung 40JU6700.

[Original Post]
I bought the 40JU6700 to use as a computer monitor because it is listed as one of the few TVs that will support 4K@60Hz with full (4:4:4) chroma. Unfortunately I have not been able to get it to work.

The picture defaults to 4K@30Hz with 4:4:4. When I manually switch it to 60Hz it drops to 4:2:2 chroma (verified by using the test image http://cdn.avsforum.com/b/b4/b4a4404...tach208609.png).

Does anyone know how to fix this? There is very little information so far on using this TV as a monitor.

My current settings/equipment are:
  • PC Mode (NOT in gaming mode)
  • HDMI1 Port
  • Certified HDMI2.0 cable
  • NVIDIA GTX970 video card

Screen artifact issue: Anyone else using the TV as a PC monitor, are you seeing a stripe along the bottom of the screen?

Here is an image of what I am seeing: http://i.imgur.com/lDYlQUC.jpg

The white areas of the stripe seem to coincide with windows higher up in the screen. At least if I move a window the white section in the stripe at the bottom moves with it. The stripe becomes worse from left to right.

Can this be a timing issue? The rest of the screen looks perfect.

Has anyone tired using this TV for gaming yet? I'm having one delivered tomorrow and can't wait to see how it performs.

Anything I need to pick up with this TV to get the best out of it?

Got everything set up so far:

Xbox One -> HDMI -> TV
TV->Optical Out->Cheap sound bar.

When the source is my Xbox One the sound bar plays audio just fine.
When the source is a Smart App, i get pops and clicks and no audio.
When I hook the same optical cable to my 5.1 headphones everything sounds just fine from the Smart Apps.

Is there some setting that I might be able to change to fix this issue?

I almost bought this tv.. but from what I read, other than acceptble input lag... this TV is only good for cable... the motion blur is gonna drive you nuts like everyone else

If you can spend a bit more.. get the UN55JU7100 or the UN55JU7500 which is really the better TV

HDR support was announced for all 2015 tv's today . I have viewed HDR on ju6700/6500 not gunna lie it struggles with low light scenes and lack of dimming hurts image quality too. Some support is better than none though and as most users were not expecting this a welcomed surprise..
