They didn't get away with it this time .....Sony doesn't have their own HDR standards
HDR 10 is open to anybody free of charge .
Dolby Vision is not open ,D.V. is Dolby labs and requires royalties or licence fees .
ATSC 3.0 will be using HDR 10.
Besides most movies mastered in Dolby Vision ,4K UHD HDR Blue Rays will be mastered in Dolby Vision with an HDR 10 layer .Netflix will support both standards and CATV/SAT usually follows ATSC X.X broadcast standards so it's safe to assume they will be using HDR 10 before they
murder it with compression ,bit starving and bit shaping
The
only thing for now is Sony labels their 4K HDR
set logos a little differently than the
very newly approved voluntary UHD Alliance standards that differentiate HDR compliance and true HDR spec that's all so does Samsung SUHD btw
I would expect some FCC regulation down the road about HDR labeling when US broadcasters adopt ATSC 3.0 w/HDR
