Looking for recommendations

I'm looking for a display and am drowning in too much info. I would like to keep it under 1k if possible and something in 4K would be great. My stumbling block comes in when I start looking at 4k, 3D capable units. I also just muddied the waters further by reading about edge lit versus back lit displays and something called local dimming. I have an edge lit LCD and it has uneven lighting and it drives me crazy. Is there any hope out there for me? Thanks!

Perhaps, but you'd be best served by waiting for 2016 models to arrive. There are some chinese manufacturers who will be offering 4k HDR TVs for under $1000. Keep your eyes open around here this summer.
