If the ks8000 is on bottom I'm pretty sure you still have eco mode turned on. That needs to be off asap.

Since the 1114 firmware update I'm having the NetFlix hang at 25% problem again.

Yes, as those pictures of the 800D were default. ECO SOLUTION ----> ECO SENSOR now off, and as expected, picture better. Still not a nice as the HU8550, but whatever recommended settings have not be applied.

Can't find a calibration setting list in this forum.

What are the preferred sound settings ? Maybe there's plastic wrap over the speaker ducts. Is the sound vented at the lower bezel ?

The SmartHub on my KS8000 has started popping itself up constantly. As soon as it times out, it pops right back up. When I dismiss it, it pops right back up. I've googled this and can't find any recent instances on this model or solutions. Has anyone else seen this? It only started happening after I connected DirecTV RVU. I did confirm that it's not a remote problem - I removed batteries from all the remotes in the room and that didn't fix the problem.

Those should work fine. If you look at the hole where the screw goes in on the tv, its actually not that deep from a thread perspective. I was concerned because only about 5mm of my screw gets threaded into tv but I read many forms saying thats ok, still scary. But if you go any deeper you'll most likely damage the screen. Be careful.

Maybe if they fit perfectly in the hole on there rear of the tv - the samsung ones fit nice and snug in the hole before the thread.

What settings and picture mode do you use on the hu8550, and what color space?

What sizes are the tvs?

Sound bar

Sound from flat screens never live up to par. I mean what do people really expect? I picked up the new vizio smart cast sound bar today - the new 45" with slim sub. Pretty nice and slim. The sound bar is only 2" tall and the rear speakers look ridiculously tiny - but sound is pretty damn good! Used HDMI arc to the KS800 and done. I really like that one connect - I thought it was strange at first but it really makes things easier from a wall mounting perspective. I like that I can use the samsung remote to control my devices including cable (still getting used to). The more i use the ks8000 the more i think i'm going to keep out...It was either this or the P series. My living room gets really bright during the day and I think this tv will do better in the long run vs the p series.

Anyone else using the new vizio sound bars?

800D = 55

HU8550 = 55

HU8550 = 60

Settings of the two HU8550 were posted on this forum one to one and a half years ago. I'll look for them. I really love the PQ on each of the HU8550 sets, but the 60" with a Sharp panel is slightly better than the 55" with a Samsung panel.

Good. Even the Hisense looked good with 4k, but OTA picture was below average.

I only watch OTA. So far, I'd buy another HU8550.

I can't really speak for the sound settings since I use external speakers, but you could try my picture settings if you'd like.
They differ a bit from the calibrated settings I've seen here and on rtings.com, but I like them and they give a crispy, colorful image

ECO-mode: Off
Picture mode: HDR+
Backlight: 13
Brightness: 45
Contrast: 100
Sharpness: 20
Color: 50
Digital clean view: Auto
Auto motion plus: Personal (3, 3, Off)
Smart LED: Low
Dynamic contrast: Off
Color tone: Warm2 (or maybe Warm1)
Gamma: 0
Color space: Auto

(I have the KS9000, but it should be the same result on the KS8000)

That's what I thought and thanks for reassuring me. On the bright side it should hopefully prevent me from over-tightening. I'm going to be treating everything with kid gloves. Suppose to be taking delivery on my birthday on Thursday. I'm not sure if I can get it sooner. Might try and call tomorrow, but need it to be when my son is at summer camp. Can you do me a favor and post or pm me how yours looks on the wall. Here's some pictures below of my wall and how the tv should look. I'm not sure where I should positioning it? I think it was easier with the Kanto full motion one in our bedroom. Hoping that this one is just as easy.

No, but I've got a old 2.1 hooked up to my old Vizio 47" E Series in our bedroom. Works beautifully and might be moving it into our bedroom. Our 55" LG in the living room is just awful for sound. I plan on hooking up my Onkyo HT-S5300 HTIB finally in the room. Haven't decided if I'm getting a over sized rug or make the back speakers wireless with one of those kits like Best Buy sells.

I think you might take a look at the picture settings from rtings. I know some of the owners have used them and tweaked them to their satisfaction.

Forum? You mean thread? I don't think too many people are that uptight here. Most have been pretty helpful with any questions I've had and thanks to Larry I know that there is a search function within the thread

Thanks. Tried them. Picture is 60% as good as the HU8550. The KS800D's colors are not vibrant and whites are yellowish.

Tomorrow will try rings and my own adjustments.

The muffled sound is another problem. The HU8550 sound is much better.

My tv finally arrived last week. I haven't messed around with the settings too much. So far, some content look beyond amazing while others look a bit meh. I'll try the config @kazmur posted here but I do have a few questions

1 - HDR+ - Should you switch this on for HDR sources or is it purely for adding HDR to non-HDR content? What happens if it's on and there's HDR content playing?

2 - Sport mode looks horrendous. I tried watching football and the colours look overly saturdated. My source content is a 720p satellite feed. Are there any settings specific to sport that anyone uses?

Try them, and you can also try the calibrated settings on rtings.com to see which you like best

1. I use HDR+ mode for everything, including real HDR. There's some debate in the thread about whether the TV shows real HDR when playing HDR-content in HDR+ mode, but the conclusion seems to be that it does. Some people even claim that the HDR-content gets even better with HDR+ on. I feel that it does, but I'm no expert and Samsung seem reluctant to even comment on the matter.

2. Yep. I can't for my life figure out the use of sports mode since the picture looks as if it was drawed with colored crayons, but if someone has any input here then feel free to enlighten me

frisbfreek asked if it was possible to add a FAQ to the first page. I won't have time to look at all the questions then find the answers myself. If maybe 1 person can gather all the info that should be in my first post they could post the info and I would just copy and paste in in the first post so it is easier to find.

Awesome, thanks buddy. At the moment I'm also using HDR+ for everything. I'm coming from a plasma (PS51D550) and everything was perfect on that panel. I am noticing a bit of judder. Even with low custom auto motion settings it seems to not be very consistent. If for example I have those 2 sliders (the name I cant remember now) set to a value of 2 everything is fine but all of a sudden I see some extra SOE before it goes back to normal.

But I'll try your and the rtings values. I also have the Disney WOW calibration blu ray that I want to mess around with.

Me, too. If the selection won't load after a few tries, I go to Settings for Netflix, Help, and then reload Netflix. That always works and doesn't take as long as it sounds, but it's not why we bought new TVs, is it?

Another SmartHub related question... What's the purpose of making a Samsung account aside from registering the TV? I thought maybe the account would tie to SmartHub settings or apps, but I can't even find a web page to log into for SmartHub.

As far as my continuously appearing SmartHub, I got it to finally stay hidden by performing the diagnostic test in the menu. After that it didn't continue to pop up when using RVU. I'll keep an eye on it. Doesn't seem like many people are using RVU so I'll document anything else odd that I come across.

Was having the same dilemma. Went to (3) best buys to view p series on display. The employees don't push vizio there, all they do is bash it to sell other brands. So don't listen to them! Not sure what settings they had the screens on but they never came close to being as bright as the ks8000. My last tv was the vizio m series full array and blacks were awesome. Honestly the blacks on the KS8000 are better than I expected in both my bright living room and pitch black at night. I took a leap of faith and bought the ks8000 from sams club to try out for 90 days (good return policy!) By then I was thinking sams would have the p65 - they already have the p50. I haven't even had the ks8000 for a week yet but as each day passes I'm leaning to not even giving the p series a shot. Besides picture quality - I for one am big on aesthetics (some people aren't and don't need to take into consideration) but after having my clunky m series hanging on the wall and now this super sexy slim ks8000 - i don't know if I can go back to a 2" thick tv with another 1/2" or so border frame.....My m series was a 60", the ks8000 is 65" - the ks8000 is about a half inch shorter and only 3" wider. Its all screen!! No tv is perfect (maybe OLED is close), but like others have said in this thread - pick your poison and what works best for you. Bring one home and try it. Thats the only way to tell..

Can't find a calibration setting list in this forum.

What are the preferred sound settings ? Maybe there's plastic wrap over the speaker ducts. Is the sound vented at the lower bezel ?
use the settings from rtings as a starting point, that's what I did and it really improved the picture a LOT

They differ a bit from the calibrated settings I've seen here and on rtings.com, but I like them and they give a crispy, colorful image

ECO-mode: Off
Picture mode: HDR+
Backlight: 13
Brightness: 45
Contrast: 100
Sharpness: 20
Color: 50
Digital clean view: Auto
Auto motion plus: Personal (3, 3, Off)
Smart LED: Low
Dynamic contrast: Off
Color tone: Warm2 (or maybe Warm1)
Gamma: 0
Color space: Auto

(I have the KS9000, but it should be the same result on the KS8000)
Auto Motion at 3 and 3 is what I use and it works awesome.. The only difference I have is sharpness at 0 and digital clean view either low or off..
