PTV,
Normal TV and movie wise I don't see any real issues with the top and bottom LEDs. I do noticed it on an all black screen though when DirecTV has the black screen with their text scrolling in the screen saver

As for the JS vs KS with your current model, they are both edge lit. I know my 55" KS8000 is super bright. It will be brighter than your current one. Also the smart connect stuff seems to be pretty neat if you want to control any devices.

I attached a youtube video. Can you see it?

After reading through the Amazon info about the HDR. It does say its only on the JS series. I have a hunch they haven't updated their end for the KS. I could be wrong, so if anyone can let us know that would be great.

Will check it out. The Special Viewing mode has 2 settings
Sports
Game mode

Haven't had time to try it out in much detail. The basketball and tennis i watched the feed quality wasn't that good. However when I switched back to the SyFy channel with sports mode still on there was a little soap opera effect while watching. The effect was not present in the sport channels i watched.

Don't like the AMP effect so i leave it off. I just hope I don't run into a lot of films where the whole screen starts to pan.

i have zero panning / judder issues with 8500 (nobody ever complains about it in the thread too). with good sources everything should be fine given the right settings.

I also started to wonder if the 9000 handles motion better. Started to wonder if I should have just gotten the 9000. My guess is it will be the same when its turned off. Hopefully Samsung will make a FALD in the coming years in both 55" inch and 50" inch. I'm going to get a Square trade warranty in about a week.(Just to be on the safe side)

Can anyone with Amazon Prime check the UHD version of Bosch Season 2 Episode 2 The Thing about Secrets? Just the first couple of seconds as show in my youtube video posted above. How does it look on your tv(please state which tv you have)

I still see it but it doesn't seem as bad as it did yesterday

I just looked at the scene on my 55" JS8500 and it was smooth, i.e. quite normal and beautiful.

no reason to get KS8000 if you're rocking JS8500 as far as i can see (and i have a thing against those "legs"). i'd love to take a closer look at KS9000 though.

What do you think the KS9000 brings to the party?

outside it's aesthetically pleasing looks it's hard to say without spending some time with it. it gets twice as bright with twice the amount of dimming zones, so there's that.

How many dimming zones does the JS series have vs the Ks series?

impossible to say without some labor intensive counting at home. JS8500 has 10-12, JS9000 has 16-18. is Samsung changing those numbers for 2016 sets? maybe, since they are significantly increasing the brightness and rearranging the LEDs.

KS9000 vs KS8000 = KS9000/9500 have better motion due to the inclusion of an advanced form of backlight scanning that reduces flicker for even better perceived motion performance (Supreme 240 Motion Rate). Both are 10-bit and possess 1000 nit minimum peak brightness. Further, both will have the new QD layer that is approximately 20% more efficient this year vs last.

Does this work with auto motion off or does it have to be on?

personally I would go see it first but most likely it's better as it gets twice as bright and should do HDR better with improved colours.

Yes most likely they need to push new app out enabling the new Tv's.

Good points. Some of the early reviews mentioned that the edge lit bottom and top is causing some pretty bad light bleed, especially during letterboxed material. I still need to see one in person - it's taking Best Buy forever to put up floor models.

Local Best Buy has the ks9500 in a 55 inch and 65 put up. I didn't get time to really digest it. But from what I can see is man is those screens thin. I didn't see any bleeding from the demos I saw on both the ks. From my short time with it I was comparing it to my js8500. Besides being extra thin which I didn't care for much. It looked like it was quite a bit brighter then the JS model.

Never seen the JS series in action but it can get pretty bright. For instance when the local news women has on say a red dress.

Models are slowly beginning to trickle in to retailers. SEE (Samsung spaces) spaces within Best Buy are going to start putting the units up this week if they haven't started doing so already. The new displays will look fantastic and actually have high-end buyers in mind.

There is a firmware fix already in the works for the slight light bleed that exists on the newly released sets. Bleed will always be a problem when a set is lit from the edges, but I personally think the TVs look great once set up properly and viewed in lighting that is fit for such a unit.

The KS units are definitely brighter, and have a much purer light on which the color is based on due to more efficient QD material in 2016.

Arctura, thanks for the info. I'm still strongly considering exchanging my 55" JS8500 for the new KS8500 based on seeing it in person at Best Buy. Do you know if/when the 2015 JS series will get the Tizen 2.0 update?
