Nothing official regarding the 2.0 update.

If you are within the return window, I'd personally return the JS8500 and snag the KS8000 (the flat equivalent) for only about $150-200 more. Improved QD, 1000 nits of peak brightness and the new OS baked right in.

What's QD? My JS8500 is an amazing set and if you are saying the KS8000 is great I'll take a look.

I'm in my return window also. I got my js8500 for 1450 with tax. The new ks8000 shoes for 1799.00 via Best Buy. That's about 480 more not sure if it's worth it. Maybe someone can chime in and help lol!

if you have no issues with your JS, it definitely isn't worth it.

Samsung called their QD material (which is licensed from Nanosys) "Nanocrystals" in 2015. That name is being dropped as it proved to be a failed marketing/branding attempt to personalize the quantum dot technology.

In 2016, it is simply being called Quantum Dot.

I'm going to decide today about exchanging the JS8500 for the KS8000. I hope it's better than some posters and pre-production reviewers have asserted.

The TV is definitely "better" on paper than the JS8500, but it doesn't have the advantage of being tested and tweaked over the course of a year.

Both are great sets; one is just newer with some extra refinements.

Went to Best Buy tonight to look at the 55" KS8000 and got a good intro. Fortunately, the KS8000 was installed right below the JS8500 and I could sort of do a comparison, tho using the cheesy BB in house non-4K loop. My first impression is that the bezel on the KS8000 (and KS8500) is super, crazy thin - almost non-existence. The picture look great when showing the Star Wars Blu ray trailer advert with no evidence of light bleed or blooming in the top and bottom black bars. The Tizen 2.0 system is lightning fast and much simpler than the 2015 version. Overall, given the limited viewing and comparison experience I think I'll be exchanging my JS8500 for the KS8000.

Who said that it has 40ms input lag?

The KS9000 review says that it has 21ms

IS this 100% confirmed? I was going to get 49KS8500 as PC monitor for gaming.

Is there a 49 inch version of KS9000 or KS9500?

Review of 8000 here

https://reviews.lcdtvbuyingguide.com...n55ks8000.html

As far as we know based on Samsungs pdf spec sheet the sizes for the 9000 are going to be 55" 65" 75".

Those input lags may be correct, however the reviewer doesn't state how they tested the ks8000. Until the same reviewer measures both tv's using the same measurement equipment, I'd hold off on judgement.

ABT is still stating they should have the 49" in stock within a couple weeks. Hope so.

For some reason this review is only for 55 and 65 inch models, no mention of 49.

4) I don't see any clouding when the screen is black but haven't had a chance to watch a full movie and set it up.
5) Tizen seem fast and responsive but I have to familiarize myself with it since this is my first time using it.

I will take pictures when I get a chance. Based on my knowledge I don't think I should be the one to start an owners thread. I will try to answer ans many question as possible.
does it have an Optical Out port, didn't see it in the specs.

For those considering swapping out a JS for a KS, don't forget that the KS DOES NOT have 3D if that's important to you.

I sent Amazon and Samsung an email asking them when will the KS be able to stream HDR content.

Samsungs response

Thank you for contacting Samsung. I understand that Amazon app is not displaying in HDR content in your TV:UN55KS8000FXZA, while the 2015 JS series TV is displaying UHD content in HDR. I also see that you would like to know when the Amazon app will be updated.I do understand your concern. I have checked the information for you and see that the TV UN55KS8000FXZA is capable of displaying the HDR content and it is up to Amazon app to provide the content in HDR format. I hope you understand. For further assistance and information, please contact Amazon support.

Amazons response

I understand that you are concerned about your Samsung KS8000 2016 device not being compatible to stream Amazon videos in HDR format. I'm sorry for the disappointment this has caused you!

I totally understand that having wider options of compatible devices to stream Amazon videos in HDR format would be an added advantage to our customers. So as your mail has reached my desk and also considering your interest I feel like I should take this as a feedback and forward this issue to the Amazon instant video development team.

The development team will work with the manufacturers of the device and hopefully will make your device compatible to stream HDR format Amazon videos as well very soon. As Amazon is known as an Earth's most customer centric company we will definitely consider our customers feedback and comments as we always strive to provide exceptional digital experience to our customers.
