What are your PS4 pro settings? Are you plugged directly into the TV or an AVR?

Everything on auto. HDMI is plugged into the box that comes with the tv where all the hdmi ports are. I tried all ports except Arc one I believe. Thanks for the reply.

That's an issue some people experience in Game mode. Haven't myself, but there is no known fix that I am aware of. Searching this thread could yield some clues. There is also this thread over on the Samsung forums about it: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/...p/52192#U52192

We had the latest version in the world (1165.1)... for two whole days! lol

EDIT: 1167.0 has had a very short internal testing period / very quick turnaround. The text file inside the zip says it was built on 20th Feb 2017. So just 7 days between build and release to the world.

Most firmware versions have had around 10-16 days gap (yes, I track them ) . I wonder if they were in a rush for some reason.

The word "fix" implies something is broken. Where was it ever stated that Game mode would ever do what you're hoping? Samsung has never stated it would. We all have hoped it would but that doesn't mean it's broken and needs to be "fixed".

To keep America first.

I wish they'd publish a changelog. Faith is a wonderful thing, but I'd prefer to not have to rely on it.

Anyone use the built in speakers?
I've mentioned this before but either the volume is degrading on it's own or the firmware updates are reducing the volume levels.
I could watch at 10-12 and 15 if it was noisy around me.
Now I need 20-30 in the same situation.
I know I'm not getting deaf since my kids ask me to turn it up as well.

That is the way it should be. "Dimension" is referring to the size compared to 1080p, not the resolution. It means that 4k is exactly twice the height and twice the width of 1080p. There is another line a little further down in the stats window that shows the actual resolution. That should be where you see 3840x2160.

You can see on the left side, the CIE xy chromaticity diagram and a counter on the screen counting up. The "slice" through the colour volume that the CIE xy chromaticity diagram represents therefore moves higher and higher up the stack. Meanwhile the right half of the screen shows all the same colours ordered differently.
What's interesting is that how many of the colours can't be displayed, ie they get represented as white. This is more evident towards the end where the CIE xy chromaticity diagram is a large swash of white - as the TV can't display the shades between the very bright primaries.

Fascinating stuff. Also worth putting the TV in different modes (such as our friend HDR+ ) to see the effect it has...
I have the same HDR settings for HDMI 2 (Chromecast Ultra) and the KS8000 built-in YouTube app. This test pattern appears different, even though the CCU and KS8000 YT app both show 4K HDR tags on the video playback. I have also noticed that HDR YouTube videos appear more dull on the CCU than the KS8000 YT app. That kind of inconsistency is very frustrating, especially for enthusiasts interested in that level of detail. Makes no sense to me.

I feel the same way. That is like the only issue so far, and now with more titles supporting HDR its irritating having to keep adjusting the backlight.

Hey there,

Could it be that the Samsung KS8500 has really bad viewing angles? I mean, as soon as I get a bit to the sides or stand up, it all looks washed out instantly? I mean, not as good as sitting right in the middle? I've been used to a much better viewing angle with my 7 year old P42S10E Plasma TV.

HOWEVER, whenever I calibrate the brightness in video games, to for example set the brightness till the logo barely visible, it is perfectly adjustable one step before it goes completely black, but right in front of the screen, where it has the deepest blacks, fully color and contrast, funny enough, it is not as indicative. Maybe I'm just spoiled by my previously oversaturated Plasma? But why, when sitting right in the middle, I'm getting these full colors and blacks I wouldn't get just going of a little off angle, which on the other hand is great for calibration though oO.

FWIW I have both a a 65" KS8000 and KS8500. I play all my PS4 / XBOX One games on the KS8000 and use the KS8500 in the living room mainly for TV watching. Both the KS8000 and KS8500 suck when you are not directly in front of it. Like yourself, My 5 year old Panny Plasma looks superior off axis. Sometimes I wish they went with IPS instead of TN but then again the blacks/contrast wouldn't be nearly as good when watching it directly in front of the TV. Just need the price of OLED to come down and this no longer is an issue

Alright then, wow yeah, haha, OLED will surely not be around the corner at that price range Well, will I get used to it? Or is it not as bad as I've perceived? Otherwise I really have to get an IPS 34" LG computer monitor heh.

Did you put the .msd file in the root of your USB drive? If it's in a folder on the drive the TV won't find it.

Bubble burst. HDR in Game mode is making me more and more frustrated over time. It wasn't so bad when the only thing I was playing with HDR was UC4 and the Slim and Pro were pretty new, but there's enough HDR stuff out now or coming soon (Horizon!) that it's getting to be a real pain.
Ya, im debating just gaming in movie mode...

I just unsure how badly that will affect gameplay.

You can leave it in a folder. I leave the "image" folder intact. The TV knows to scan folders to find the file needed. I've never extracted the files to the root of the drive.

Hi guys, I have a couple interesting question's for the more knowledgeable members of this website.

1.)Is it at all possible that since the samsung 2016 higher end 4k tv's use native 10-bit 120hz 4k panels and that the connector's are on a external brick (aka the mini connect), could it be possible in theory that the 2016 high end 4k tv sets connectors be upgraded to HMDI 2.1, as long as they still use the same connector port? Especially the KS8000 and KS8500 series of 4k tv's?

2.)Would the internal tv video processor be able handle the tv's signal going at an actual 120hz 4k resolution, even in PC mode? Since a HDMI 2.1 connector would support it and the screen is also a 120hz native 4k panel?

As always thanks in advance for any info!
