Official Samsung KS8000/KS8500 Owners Thread

READ BELOW BEFORE POSTING

*********************************************
MODERATOR'S NOTE: This thread is exclusively for current owners of the listed sets. It is not a comparison thread. It is not a "Help Me Choose"" thread except, perhaps between listed models. It is not a place for owners of other sets to come in and bash this set, even if you also own this set. OWNERS ONLY and discussions of the listed sets ONLY. If you do not own the listed set(s), it's highly advised you DO NOT POST in this thread.

Many of these same owners are subscribed to the help-me-choose threads and regularly check the section's front page and will happily field non-owner questions there. They've kindly asked for a place where they can discuss things between themselves. So, please respect their wishes.
*********************************************

The attached Guide contains a collection of information based upon thousands of posts in this forum. Use this to help you with your questions BEFORE you post here. It's likely that your question has been answered. If not, or if you need clarification, please post as we welcome the discussion and the opportunity to provide you with guidance.

Features of the Guide:
- Organized into six sections: Potential Owner, Initial Setup, General Usage, Troubleshooting, Advanced Topics, and Glossary
- Clickable links to the forum itself, external websites with relevant information, posts within the forum, and common forum searches within each section
- FAQs within each section

We also welcome any suggestions to improve the Guide.

If your question isn't answered in the guide, try the "SEARCH THIS THREAD" box above. Better to get your answers quickly rather than creating a post and wondering why nobody's responding to it.

Good deal. I have a 49" on pre-order for my study, but might move up to the 55" depending on a few things. Pictures whenever you have a chance.

Congrats on the tv

2) Tv is bright (dependent on what settings I guess). I tend to use Dynamic and dial it back some as my 47 year old eyes are not a good as they were when I was younger. Most of my viewing is done in the daytime with lights on.
3) As you start to angel off you do start to see light bleeding I guess you call it on the black bars. Sitting in the center the bars are black.
4) I don't see any clouding when the screen is black but haven't had a chance to watch a full movie and set it up.
5) Tizen seem fast and responsive but I have to familiarize myself with it since this is my first time using it.

I will take pictures when I get a chance. Based on my knowledge I don't think I should be the one to start an owners thread. I will try to answer ans many question as possible.
Thank you for posting! I'm very interested in the new Samsung models and waiting (impatiently) for Best Buy to put up floor models. I'm thinking about exchanging my JS8500 for a KS8500.

Sorry the best I can do for now. Pictures not so great on my Galaxy S7. The one with the Dune logo is black but for some reason the logo looks like is has blooming when is doesn't.

I put some HDR demos on a hard drive and when they played at the top of the screen it let me know it was HDR content.

One thing I don't like is the remote. It will control the cable box but without number button you have to
1) Hit the number button to bring up the numeric pad.
2) Enter the cable channel you want. Moving the cursor right and left to get to the number.
3) Click done. The a slight pause then the channel is changed.

Im still going to use my cable remote. Will try my other remote to see if it works.

Ya. I've seen those new remotes and I don't like them at all. I'd still use my DirecTV remote in it's place.

Thanks for the pics. They look really good. Considering 95% of my TV viewing is going to be regular cable and sports in a light filled room, I think this TV is going to work great. Now.... keep the 49" pre-order or get the 55"? lol

Thanks again.

I think Samsung is nuts to think people are going to go through all that just to change channels on a cable/satellite box. It's nonsense. Samsung claims that their Tizen 2.0 interface provides convenience and control - the remote should have a numeric keyboard.

Bluewhale1, much has been made of Samsung switching to edge lit LED's at the top and bottom instead of on the sides. Have you noticed any issues? How is the viewing angle that you've noticed?

(Smart Led on low) When there are black bars and you start to move of to the side you do see a sort of glow in the bars if you will. Dead center its good. If you are the type of person who watches movies in the dark and sit off angle if that bothers you then this might not be the tv for you. I play with it some more bet its in a narrow space so its a little hard to gauge how bad it would get.
Motion seems fine to me but keep in mind I don't have the greatest vision. So far i don't have any stuttering.

I am very interested in this exact 55 inch set. Might you be able to tell me what the distance is between the feet on the stand please? A lot depends on that for me? I appreciate the help and I hope you are enjoying your new purchase!

Can you take a few pictures of the Tizen 2 interface? Also, can the apps like Netflix and Amazon be pinned so that they are always in the same place?

Have a look here. The feet are a little strange they curve outward.
Tv length is about 48 & 1/4 "
Tv feet distance from end to end of the feet is about 44"
The center hole where the feet are inserted is about 40"

@PTV Programmer still trying to figure it out once i do i will let you know.

Thank you! Disappointed that there's no option to get it with the V shaped center stand I have seen in so many photos? I guess they're just doing it that way in Europe? can't have everything!

Looks like the answer is yes. (So far) I have Netflix first and Amazon second. Turned tv on and on and they are still in the same order.

One good thing is you can add channel to the channel menu (although you have to scroll thru them to get what you want ie it took a little while to get to channel 506 to add it) Its nice but using the cable remote would be much faster dependent upon how many channels you add

The feet are not really locked in either. (You just push them in and the weight holds it, nothing to screw in) The y mount that comes with the 9000 looks much better.

Thanks! This is awesome. I wish I could make an educated decision about either sticking with my JS8500 or getting the KS8500/KS8000.

The second that the new Vizio P hit stores hundreds of posts proclaimed it the "winner" and that the Samsung's, despite no owner experience, were dead upon arrival. I'm not a fan of the whole "casting" approach and still very much interested in staying with Samsung. My only decision is keep my JS8500 or exchange for a KS model. My local Best Buy isn't making it easy because despite having stock they claim there won't be floor models until April 9 or 10.

So far so good. I like it but we will see what happens in a couple of days. I will take more pictures but HD material (Blu Ray) looks good. Very rich and colorful. Most problems people have had with edge lit tvs I have been lucky and haven't had to deal with.

Sony tvs may still handle motion better but for me I haven't seen any problems as of yet. If I had to guess however your cable channels looked on other HU/JS versions of Samsung tv will probably look the same.

I do miss the 3 settings for the Auto motion plus

I got the KS8000 because The HU8550 doesnt support HDR and wanted a bigger screen. The only FALD models Samsung will have will be to big.

I will try to see if i can get a good shot of the angels but its a little hard.

This is the best i can get out of my phone. The flower image is from the LG Oled demo on youtube. Color of the flower doesnt come thru to well but you can see the blacks

I do everyone once in a little bit see a little noise but still playing with the settings. Only twice have I seen some judder (i guess its) called when the camera is panning. Still working it out.

I wish I could answer everyones question about motion compared to other previous models. Watching boxing and mma i didnt see anything bad.

I looked up a review anyone who is a gamer may not want to consider this one as it has a 40MS in game mode so that ruled this tv out for me the KS9000 has 21MS in game mode

Can't seem to find any HDR content on Amazon. Followed the instructions Master List of HDR content and for some reason its only in UHD. The second season episode 2 of Bosch in the beginning of the episode when the whole screen pans down from the sky it was really shaky/juddery.

I attached a youtube video. Can you see it?
