Larry, would you please check the black in a completely dark room (no lights on) and see whether the screen is completely black just like OLED or could you still see some lights on the screen?

Can you still see / find the screen when the room is pitch black? Is it PERFECT BLACK?

Curious what you feel about the up scaling from the X950 to the Z9D, it really perked my interest with the improved X1 chip.

Neither. I have an older Bello stand that has top and bottom horizontal support beams with two projections top and bottom that are padded and hold the set to the vertical back uprights. It's a fabulous stand that isn't available anymore.

One of my favorite movies for evaluating a set is The Fifth Element. I watched the Atmos enabled BD via my Oppo (so upconverted by the Sony, via the Samsung 4k (upconverted to 4K by the Samsung), and by coincidence, it was also playing on a movie channel on DirecTV. I have never seen this movie look so good. As great as is the 950B, I think the processing in the Z9D is better.

We should start seeing more owners. I know that Video and Audio Center has sold a few sets and does have them in stock. I have purchased from them for 25 years and I can honestly say they are an excellent company. I am in no way affiliated with them. I'm simply saying this as a very satisfied customer.
Something tells me Sony has already sold more 65Z9D than Vizio has with the Vizio R series to date.

Relax, just a joke to keep the mood light.

If someone had said the same joke but called it "ks9800 killer" or "samsung killer", I would have zero Qualls at all. It's all in good fun!

How about inputting a full screen grey test image to check for any dirty screen effect, dark corners and/or dark center screen area as well as vice versa, horizontal/vertical banding, noticeable shadow of FALD array seen onscreen, etc ?

HD Guru article stated; However, Sony would not disclose if the LCD panels used in the TVs are true 10-bit panels, or if it is eliminating banding artifacts only through processing.
Unless you have something different that was reported?

Exactly. Don't you wanna know what it looks like from the first owner watching normal content? Does he think it looks way brighter than his 950B? It's supposed to be a lot of things. Now we can find out if it delivers.

The problem is that you can't really tell from pictures how bright a panel really is. Nevertheless, yes we all want pics.
