Wait till Thanksgiving?

Hello members,
I am looking to get a 65" samsung ks8000 and was waiting till Thanksgiving. But I already noticed the prices drop below $1700 so was wondering are they going to drop anymore over black friday? I haven't really followed TV prices over thanksgiving before so not sure what the trend is. Should I wait for black friday?

Nobody knows. Just make sure that what you buy is not a "dealer specific" model. In other words, you can't find the model number on the mfrs site.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will wait till Thanksgiving.
Do you consider the Costco model to be dealer specific and therefore should not buy it?

Write the model number down of the one at Costco and then see if you can find it on the mfrs site. Chances are the model number is just slightly different. One of the reasons that's done is so that you can't price match because price matching is for the exact same model (which is determined by the model number). Another reason is that the dealer-specific model may be lacking a feature or option that is not apparent.

I got my JS8000 around this time last year at Best Buy (it was a best buy exclusive). I really like the set, but it is hard to find info on it since it was a Best Buy set. But as far as price, it was listed at $1800, but went down to $1400 days later. What I did was purchase it with Amex points on-line (which offered free deliver, setup and removal of old set [which was a giant 56" RPTV). Best Buy offered 30 day price match if it goes on sale, so I got the $400 cash back. So check into where you buy it to see if they do offer a refund if it goes on sale.

I think Best Buy has posted their Black Friday Deals ad - I think the model you listed is in the ad online.

Since my crystal ball is out for repair, I can only give general advice. If you do not need the TV immediately. wait and see what the prices do. Certainly they will be no higher than today. Most of the really hot Black Friday deals are on lower end models that may not have the features or quality you want. It is unlikely that any specific model you are considering will be a door buster deal.

There is no money in this type of product. I bet it has a small sale price for Black Friday as it is mid end TV. High will see no impact.

My gut feeling is the ks8000 won't be a black friday special. Black friday TVs tend to be lower end models that need inventory clearing.

Double check on Best Buy match policies. As I mentioned earlier, if you buy it now and it goes on sale even lower in the next 30 days, you should be able to get the difference.

Isn't Black Friday deals exempt from price matching though?

There's a change that prices will go even lower, but they might not. I think you should not wait for the lowest price possible. Instead wait for a price that is suitable for your budget. If $1700 is okay with you then just buy it and forget about it. I never liked Black Friday events.

I don't think they exempt anything. From their website; "If we lower our in-store or online price during the return and exchange period, we will match our lower price, upon request.".

I am in the same boat. I use crutchfield. They will honor any price for 60 days. So if you buy now you will get a refund. So they told me. I will still wait to see what happens.

Sorry, do not think that is correct. Then you could purchase the TV they day before BF and have them price match. Almost sure it is exempt. That is why they will not match BF deals from other stores.
