I appreciate the suggestion. I would have to do something like that I suppose. But the point was there trucking company they use mana already said they have a box. And mana is the one who took the box with them last time. Hisense via Facebook said that they'd have mana bring a box too. But now hisense is calling saying this seems to me like there trying to just not honor their word and look for any reason they can to back out of this.

Why buy a tv with 256 dimming zones only to turn them off. Everyone who sees this tv at my house with these settings asks where I got it and wants one. Is it super accurate in color? No, but it has oled like contrast and looks amazing. By turning off local dimming, turning down the backlight, and turning up the brightness you are washing out the blacks and hurting the amazing contrast ratio with this tv.

Picture mode standard
Brightness 50
Contrast 53
Color 50
Local dimming on
Backlight 98
Eco off
Overscan off
Tint 0
Sharpness 5
Motion off
Noise reduction medium
Adaptive contrast medium
Color temp standard

Local Dimming sure makes the picture pop but it has it's quirks. There is a weird edge vignetting effect that happens anytime there is a large portion of dark or black area. For instance like black bars on a movie. Also the white/gray levels are blown out. If all you do is watch movies and TV then you may not care to notice it but you do any sort of graphics work via htpc then it's extremely noticeable and bad. Pretty much the whole picture will be altered.

Vincent Teoh recently reviewed the NU9700 on his HDTVTest channel on YouTube. I found it very interesting that the new flagship model has many of the same issues experienced by members here. His conclusions and advice for Hisense at the end are spot on.

My favorite line in the whole 30min review is:

"Clearly Hisense has plenty of money in their marketing budget, but my suggestion to them is to spend some of that money on R&D"

Amazing to me that Hisense, even with their 2017 flagship, still can't come close to consistent color or HDR rendering. It's a shame really.

At least I feel a little better that I only paid $950 for the same color issues that new NU9700 buyers pay $3000 for.

Hi All,

Still no word from Hisense on an HDR (HLG)
firmware update, YET !.

SO, is there, (With Amazon starting HRD10+ streaming)
soon.
Any chance of an HDR (HDR10+) firmware update.

It's a big improvement on HDR10, that's the last
HDR firmware We received.

HDR10+ is a Dynamic Metadata HDR, were as
HDR10 is a Static Metadata.

HDR10+ is royalty Free, so any HDMI 2.0 socketed
TV can Upload IT.

It,s Samsung's (Dolby Vision) competitor.
Both are Dynamic metadata and
HDR10+ is still based on (Pq) =
Perceptual Quantizer.

It can be used on the old HDMI 1.4 socket too,
but you need HDMI 2.0 because all Films
streamed are protected, and HDMI 2.0 will
open HDR10+, but HDMI 1.4 will not.

Thanks BF.

No HDR on Netflix, no HDR on Youtube, no HLG, no magenta drift solution, nothing then nothing.
Hisense has abandoned our TV.
Will be my prox TV an Hisense? Mmmh, I've some doubts about this...

Hi All,

@Zappomax , Have you Netflix (UK) if yes
contact Netflix and ask if they have a
(Dolby Vision software download) ready.

I'm saying this because (Sky Perfect JSAT) Japan
setup a (HLG software download) last year 2016
for ALL there 4k HLG Customers.

Ouote.. Sky Perfect, In response to the commencement
of 4K HDR (HLG) broadcasts, a software update for
Toshiba's 4K Regza Z20X series is scheduled to be
available for download from late August (2016).
THE PRODUCTS of other COMPANIES (HISENSE)
are also scheduled to sequentially become 4K HLG-capable
from late autumn 2016. LG Philips HISENSE, in other
words ALL UHD TVS on the market.

Why you say, ask for a Dolby Vision download, because.

Until CES 2017 it was widely assumed that DOLBY VISION
hardware needed to carry a dedicated CHIP. HOWEVER,
it is now POSSIBLE to ADD DOLBY VISION
support via a FIRMWARE UPDATE to devices with sufficiently
powerfull processors.

Dolby Vision essentially is extra information
applied on top of an HDR10 CORE.

So it's easy to ensure that ALL DV content is also compatible
with devices that ONLY SUPPORT HDR10.

MINT.

Netflix (UK) are now steaming with DOBLY VISION
and HDR10. today 25/09/2017.

Thanks BF.

Got a refund in full finally after 2 hdmi ports on my replacement 65h10b2 died then it went to black screen of death no picture. Gotta thank hisense for the refund didn’t know it would ever happen. Hope you guys the best of luck. Hopefully the promised update comes. I went back to Samsung for my living room the ks9800 has come way down in price I’m happy with it def. Hdr material is killer on this set. As long as I don’t have to deal with Samsung customer service I’ll be happy. Atleast hisense has a Facebook support site. I can’t say his name but the gentleman their I believe he does try it’s just hisense overseas moves super slow. But his hands are tied on alotta stuff unfortunately. Most 65h10b2 customers have gave up but I’m hoping you n9000 guys get something as in a step forward in correcting color issues and the lack there of hdr just too name afew.

For what it's worth, Hisense messaged me the following:

"The R&D team is going to release new firmwares for both LC-65N9000U and 65H10B2. The new firmware will include picture quality fixes, HDR banner, HDR preset, and HDR Netflix."

Based solely on the conversations I've had with their customer support lead, it seems they're working on doing right by all us N9000 owners and not just running down the clock until Jan. We shall see, I suppose.

I know its probably an unpopular opinion but I'm still not mad at all.. I got my set for a hair of $1,000 shipped at a time when the closest equivalent was at least $500 more and even then not a direct comparison (FALD, etc.). HDR on this set is a mix of highs and lows, some content can look really amazing and other content can really shine a light on what is either poor color processing or HDMI handshake issues (or both). Something like Glow looks atrocious with HDR on but some PS4 games are breathtaking with HDR on. I did not personally buy this set expecting perfect HDR, in fact the HDR was literally just a "oh cool" idea. I went in knowing HDR is a wild wild west scenario right now and in my opinion likely wil be for at least another 18-24 months. There is now a dozen TVs (or more) in the sub $800 price point that claim "hdr" support because its so easy to do so without quantifying what that REALLY means. Samsung is clearly a leader as is LG and if you expected that out of this set thats fine, I personally did not. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but it's easy to switch of HDR on this set and in my opinion have one of the best displays at this size and price point. Even at today's pricing, a 65" edge lit tv from Vizio or Samsung or LG is just not going to compare. Yes, at $1600 and up you are going to get a better TV, absolutely zero argument. that being said, when I pop in a 4k blu-ray, my PS4 (or PC), and enjoy really high bit rate 4k content, HDR is just an after thought for me. In 18-24 months I'll likely pick up an OLED and give get rid of this TV or make it a a garage TV or something like that. I've said it countless times in this thread, and I'll say it one last time. For about $1000 this is truly a rocking deal (even today) for a 65" back lit with many zones 4k standard color range TV and maybe tehy will dial in the HDR a bit more, I'm fine with it even if they don't because I can't think of a substitute that would give me the same features (FALD, 120hz, 4k, 65", etc.) for 1000ish. I get some people are mad that it's not as good as a Samsung that costs 50-150% more. I get some folks are mad because they feel like HiSense failed to deliver on the promises, but I think it's a bit of a leap to say the TV is garbage.

Totally agree John West. This TV with all it's faults around HDR and Color Gamut still offers really good PQ for the price.

Movies like Gods of Egypt look stunning. If Hisense does deliver on the next firmware update, I may have Kevin Miller come over and professionally calibrate it for me.

He's calibrated 2 TV's for me before. Great guy who loves his work.

At this point I feel like 3D should be included in the next update. I know it’s not a top priority like making this tv show HDR like it was advertised.. but after all the hoops and waiting it would be a very welcomed addition. It was in the Beta so shouldn’t be any problem porting it over. Get the tv working to spec and then as a sign of good faith the 3D would be nice

While I am awaiting this new release it need to FIX this issue this time.. Otherwise I will likely file a chargeback and may consider legal action.

Hi All,

Can I ask, does your ( US ) version of the ( UK )
65XT910 have a Satellite tuner installed, if Yes,

Could someone check this out please.
I scanned in Hotbird 13e with the Hisense Sat tuner.

The question I need an answer too is, why
did my (HDR10) icon light up on
Hot Bird 4K1 channel, Hisense TV said--
--(Use HDR for the best picture)

Hot Bird 4K1 is the first to use HEVC coding.
HEVC ( High Efficiency Video Coding )
is also known as H265, one step up from
Mpeg4 ( H264 ).

It's broadcast at ( 50fps in 10 bit colour depth ).

I'm not saying use Hotbird to check, unless
your Sat dish can look around corners.

Do a check of your Sat's to see if you have any
HEVC channels broadcasting to see if your
HDR light's UP.

Thanks BF..

In the US we don't have satellite tuners in TV sets. The two providers, Dish Network and Direct TV, keep that locked down to their own respective boxes. I don't believe there are even any third party boxes or tuners available that are compatible.

Support for H.265 HEVC video decoding.

By the way BO, does your US version have HEVC enabled.

I went back to the beta firmware for the 3D. I also think the beta has the least color issues on my set. If they resolve the color issues and get HDR working, I would consider updating firmware but it would be nice to keep the 3D feature.

All it is 65h10b2 firmware if you should have access to that on the 65h10b forum on here. The beta is not there but newer firmware is.
