Try this.
1/ Put a movie on with Letter box bars
2/ Get a 4 or 6 of 8 foot step ladder
3/ Position the ladder in from of the Tv about 10 foot away and go up the ladder and yes go up and grouch up and down when you do this and do it on both sides about 35 degrees. do the same and you will find your top bars will not be so grey. you will find a SWEET spot
4/ How remove the ladder and do the same in the 3 same positions but this time you throw yourself on the floor with your head about 6 inch off the Floor upwards and look at the TV,,,,,. HORRIBLE !!!! Top GREY to White BARS

Please read post thanks to member ohyeah32. read where he says 19 in off the floor. Now this is for a 86 inch Tv so your 65 inch will be slight different as the TV is not so high LG 86SJ9570 Owners Thread

Sorry to hear that Yes I had the same issue years ago. The other option you might have is tilt you tv down as much as possible so you are looking as close to the middle of the TV. Its not as good but if your are having the grey letter box with bars up the top and possible down the bottom too because your tv is too high just give it a angle. Try it as I would expect this to be your major problem.
I have found that the high the resolution the worse the issue is.

Rtings.com review is out. Nothing surprising I'd say.

Still continue to be disappointed in LG's lack of any forward progress with local dimming. I continue to believe there's a market out there for wider viewing area IPS screens mated with FALD, but no one but Vizio (for one screen size?) seems to bother.

Sidenote: Thankfully it appears Rtings.com has changed from the Bond (Skyfall?) scene viewing angle test. While OK for contrast, I always thought that was a terrible frame to judge colors by.

Can you tell me how to apply the settings in the last part of rtings settings page with lot of pictures. For what mode are those settings for and where does it start from left to right? I am confused and a newbie
