I would like to purchase an LCD ~60" for our conference room. Looking for some guidance on connectivity and resolutions. Most of our laptops have Mini-displayPort output. What about wireless connections for video? Any help is appreciated. thanks
I would avoid LG at 60" for computer connection due to their lower end LCD TVs using a WRGB pixel structure which has an effective 2880×2160 resolution. Its often not an issue for video content but can be a larger issue for computer content like text and diagrams. Do you have a budget, or viewing angle/brightness/color gamut/contrast requirements?
I looked at the Dell Conferencing room monitors and besides connectivity I am not sure what they offer for the extra price. A lower gloss screen would be my preference and viewing angle is important. I looked for a buyers guide on the net and could not find much information. Most of the time this will be used for Power Points. How well do Mini Display ports to HDMI adapters work? Thanks
I found the RTings site and they have a rating for use as a PC Monitor. Seems they like IPS screens for wide viewing and I found the warning on the LG screen as mentioned above. I will focus on 55 and 65" models. If anyone has a recommendation under $1.5K I would appreciate it.
You might check out the Sony KD55X720E, which is an IPS panel with a very wide viewing angle that supports chroma 4:4:4 for sharp text. Just what you need for only $750, so if 55" is too small, just get a pair of them for $1,500.
We are now thinking of a 65" panel minimum. If I use a pair how would that look for power points where we are taking up full width. Do you know of a 65" with IPS besides the LG? Thanks
I had Best Buy install the Samsung 65 LCD: connected by a 50 ft fiber optic HDMI cable to a laptop
we had a design review the next day using Autocad Inventor and Power Point: worked great
it replaced a 10+ year old Pioneer 50 inch plasma fed by VGA: big difference
