Okay guys,
Here is the situation.
New house, we are moving in a week.
16 foot wide, by 26 foot long room.
The TV will be mounted above a low profile fireplace, with the bottom of the TV being some 4 feet off the ground.
Ceilings are ten feet, with windows only on one wall, with very little direct light getting in the actual room.
Main viewing area will be somewhere between 12 to 15 feet back from the TV, roughly halfway back in the overall room.
I'm coming from a Panasonic plasma, TX-P55VT50 (55") that is in excellent shape, and i love everything about it. The reason this TV has to go is it is just to small for the new room, it would look awkward up on the wall, it's going to get moved to the master bedroom. That being said this has been a great set for me, i truly love it.
Here is my issue, from everything i have read, and from what i have seen in person to an extent, the natural progression from my Panasonic plasma is to go OLED, with my research leading me to the LG-C7. The viewing angles, the pure blacks, from what i have gathered, this TV is premium quality.
That being said, i feel like i might possible need to go a size larger (75") and i simply can not afford the LG 77" OLED, it's close to $10,000.00 and that is out of the current budget. If money was no object, this is the path i would be going down.
If i go 75", the TV i have zeroed in on is the Sony 940E, it's an LED that gets relatively high marks, but the down side is the viewing angles, blacks while very good for an LED (maybe the best of any LED) can not touch the OLED, and I've read there can be some slight motion issues.
I'm really torn on what to do here. In the past I've been a firm believer in buying the best possible quality TV i can afford (picture quality being the main concern). I feel from what i have seen the LG-C7 is the current answer if i'm looking for best picture quality but i'm not sure it is going to be big enough for the room. I like the 940E, it is definitely bigger, but i'm concerned that coming from the Panasonic plasma i'm going to be disappointed.
I need some guidance here, what would you all do?
Does overall size trump picture quality in this instance? Coming from the Panasonic plasma will I be disappointed with the 940E, how do those two sets stack up.
If i go with the OLED, do you think 65" is adequate for my room size.
I've got a lead on a cheap-used Panasonic Plasma VT60 here in town, is it best to go that direction temporarily, or at this point do the 940E and the C7 both out perform the plasma?
Anyways, any advice would be much appreciated as i am stumped, and have been out of the tv game for a couple of years.
Majority of TV watched is sports, coming from a cable box (Xfinity) We do stream some content as well, but that is not a deciding factor.
Audio is not an issue as there is a nice 5.1 system involved.
Thanks in advance, it's much appreciate. All opinions welcome.
