Dan: the one at CC is the LN-S4692D. The 96Ds won't be available until later this summer. CC is carrying the 92D at MSRP.

Thats a good price, but the Samsung site says it comes out in June, sure you dont mean the 768p sets?

http://www.samsung.com/Products/TV/L...4096_final.pdf

And fromw hat ive heard the MSRP will be $3999, probably wont drop as fast either since they know the novelty of 1080p is mainly for those who
1. Know what they want
2. Can affourd it
3. Have/want bluray/hd-dvd

they're listing 7000:1 (dynamic) contrast for the 46". Is this BS? The new pana has a contrast of 10000:1 (dynamic). It seems that the new samsungs will have pretty amazing black levels and may equal the plasma's. Anyone think that Samsung is messing with the numbers. If not, they Plasma's days may be over sooner then expected. I expected that LCD would surpass plasma in the next 2-3 years but it may happen sooner!

For the more knowledgable and experienced people here......does a June release typically mean the beginning of the month, end of the month, or impossible to tell.

I return home in June and will be replacing my 50" Panny plasma that went "tits-up".........I had settled on the 4692D but would love to get the 4696D if available.

Thanks and these forums have helped tremendously in researching my next purchase.

As far as contrast, Samsung totally cooks the books.

It should be early june for two reasons. The Blu-rey players coming out and the Soccer World cup mid june in Germany.

I was wondering if the new 1080p lcd sets from samsung will be able to receive a 1080p signal from a source such as the upcoming blu-ray and ps3. The current tvs only upconvert the 720p signal or 1080i signal to 1080p. If anybody knows please let me know.

1080p input should be a given, would be a huge oversight.

it will look pretty much like the 92 series, the picture of the tv in the 6th post in this thread was a concept.

both of these tv's will accept 1080p.

Hey there thanks for answering the whole 1080p thing. I'm gonna wait for the 4096d instead of getting the 4092d. But I do have one more question how much of a difference does a 6000:1 contrast ratio differ from a 7000:1 ratio with the 6d models

Hey folks,

I saw the 4692 last week and was thrilled by it. But nobody seems to know the answers to basic questions:

1) Does the 469* definitely have cablecard? If so, can it be one of the inputs to the PIP?
2) Speaking of PIP, nobody seems to know which inputs can be used. Either of the HDMIs? Component? Svideo? All of the above?
3) Can it do Picture-by-Picture? Can both channels be HD?

The Sony Bravia came out and people said it had PIP. I don't think it actually did. I've learned to be dubious about PIP in the HD world...

By the wording of the PDF
"Picture-in-picture (PIP) enables convenient
simultaneous viewing of TV programs
and video or PC sources."

I take that to mean, You can view a TV program, and then a Video or PC source with it. Meaning, only one tuner for TV.
Hopefully that means youll be able to have 2 HD sources atleast, like an HTPC with a TV window open.

necrolop,

Not sure I understand. You think any combination of video sources will be permitted:

A) a cable box input,
B) OTA HD using the internal tuner,
C) some future Blu-ray input
D) HTPC
etc, etc.

Or are you saying that the internal tuner has to be one of the inputs (i.e. what is a "TV program? Isn't it the same as a video source")?
