I am seriously considering a large LCD for HD movie viewing and HTPC use in a room where I will be sitting less than 8 feet away. I am leaning toward the Sharp but the Samsung 57 seems like a reasonable full spec 1080p alternative for about $3000 less with another HDMI input.

Any thoughts? Is the Aquos worth the 3G premium?

The Samsung can be had for half the Sharp - you must be speaking strictly MSRP.

I know several people that've purchased it "LNS5797" from authorized Samsung Dealers for half the MSRP of the Sharp 57".

I'm a big fan of Sharp as I own two but I'm not insane enough to do a double markup on any TV when they are both 1080P and reports of Excellent PQ and one is selling for the price of an automobile. :)

Samsung 65F8000, 60D8000, 40HU6350, Panasonic 50E60 LCD's
