I just bought a Samsung 3241 LCD and I have noticed that the SD channels are very pixelated and in general the picture quality looks poor. The HD channels look great.

I have a Comcast STB connected via HDMI. But I tried a component connection and saw the same poor picture quality.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking that perhaps I just need to tweak the calibration settings. But I am not sure what settings would improve the picture.

I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

I had a Samsung plasma that looked REALLY bad with SD material. Ended up taking it back because I couldn't live with the SD and picked up a Panny. Much better SD on the Panny.

I had the same problem with Samsung LCDs and SD content. SD looks great on my Panny Plasma but I am still looking for a good LCD for SD.

What do you have your stb set out for outputting the 4:3 image? I found with my jvc that setting the stb to output at 480i instead of 480p led to a better sd picture due to the t.v. upconverting the image better than the stb.

The Internet? Is that thing still around?

A lot of this could be as a result of a poor internal scaler. Some sets simply have better scalers than others, hence a better SD picture.
