Would cheese cloth be a good textile to use for cleaning an LCD display? It's soft and great for waxing my car, and made of 100% cotton I believe.

Good God No! The roughness of the cheesecloth will scratch. Use a microfiber cloth and a special non ammonia cleaner

try a camera store for the micro fiber cloth and cleaner
if it won't hurt a 3000.00 dollar lense it won't hurt a flat panel.
