Or you can just sell your Xbox and buy a Playstation 3, whose 1080p works fine with this TV.

Hahahah! I don't even think that can be called a fanboy remark, can it? I mean, it's true! HAhahaha ... I don't think anyone predicted such a problem. This isn't to say of course, that the PS3 won't have its share of problems ... but this is really hurting the morale of faithful supporters in other forums.

In reality, MS never wanted anything to do with 1080p (they previously stated - consistently I might add - that it is impossible for games on either console).

Due to Sony making such a big deal out of 1080p however, MS's hand was forced.

It should come as no surprise that there are problems with it.

Does anyone know the specific TV model that isn't working? I saw another thread that said it did work on someones XBR2... I want to know which model has problems before I go drop 50 bucks on a VGA cable...

I find that hard to believe...if you can find the thread please post it here.

We get it. In your opinion the PS3 is better. Enough already, you're not changing anyone's mind. I'm not selling my 360 when it has almost all the good games for this holiday season. We'll see what the competition looks like after its had some time to grow.

We do not train to be merciful here.

Link to thread please?

As far as I've read, the 360 1080p update isn't compatible with the sony xbr2/3 at all.

From one of I've read ...

Sony XBR's = no

Some (maybe all) Mitsubishi's = no

Some (maybe all) Westy's = no

To be honest, the only TV's I've read confirmations for are Samsung's. If that is the case, I'd imagine there are more TV's than the above that don't work.

Do you think it would work if you feed the Xbox 360 component to a receiver that will send it to the Bravia via HDMI? I think Denon & Yamaha both have receivers that do that.

Interesting, that might work but you'd have to verify that you receiver supported 1080p over component.

I just check my receiver manual and it claims to support this. But it also might be a typo because it does not actually mention component 1080i -> HDMI support.

Potentially ... but that assumes your receiver supports 1080p.

Even if it works though, you may suffer from lag due to the digitizing process.

I'm insanely excited about a system.

The last time I was excited about a system launch was the original Playstation.

I skipped the next generation totally (a little Halo here n there), but yeah.

I feel like its 1995 and I'm 11 again.

Except this time, I won't be asking my EB games salesman "It's 32-bit right?".. Instead, I'll be asking, "You sure this is a 1080p game? I have a 46XBR3 waiting for some cute signals"

I suppose it could be user error though?

Is anyone hooked up to a PC with DVI to HDMI? My ati card has a dvi output which ive been using with my sony 19" lcd. Now i've got the 46" XBR3 hooked up via VGA...and 1920x1080 is obviously just a stretched 640x480 or something.

What's the best setup for PC?

The X-box does not have HDMI.

You will have to use Component set to 1080i.

VGA 1080p probably won't work ... at least until MS makes some sort of firmware update.

did both. vga has better text output (plus u save an HDMI port). however, i'll eventually phase it back to DVI-HDMI if Microsoft gets their act together and allows 1080p to work over VGA for XBR2/3.

It should work with DVI->HDMI ... but then again, VGA should work fine as well.

Is your PC set up (or capable) of outputting 1080p?

Long time reader, First time poster.

I've been reading this forum while at work for nearly a month now. I've gone to BB and CC a couple of times and checked TVs. Everytime the wife and I return to the Sony 46XBR2.

My new house will be finished at the end of November and this will be the first TV I have bought in nearly 10years (I'm 23). I am not real big into the AV world. I like to play my Xbox360, watch DVDs and TV. I haven't owned an HD tv and when we finish the house we will be getting Metrocast HD cable service, because I will be in the sticks of Maine.

So My question to you is, will this TV live up to what it looks like in the store. I read on here about motion blur and other issues and I am worried about dropping 3k on a tv and get mad when I try to ply a first person shooter or watch the game on sunday night.

I will get quality cables and a backup power supply so will I be happy with my new toy in my new home?

Well...windows display control panel has 1920x1080 as an option...but it's clearly not 1920x1080...i mean this IE window takes up almost half of the screen in default size. I'm using an ATI 9800xt 256

ur probably the only one who forgot.

before i bought my xbr3 a month ago, i had like 3 posts total. now i'm almost at 200.

this forum is addictive; that's what i've learned. it has me looking forward to silly things. haha, and refresing, and updating, and yadda yadda yadda.

top 3 things i'm looking forward to (not all are because of this forum, but it certainly didn't help):

1. PlayStation 3
2. Xbox 360 1080p update (the hopefully soon-to-be 2nd update)
3. Petmic's ISF calibration settings.

Same here, I wish MS would've tested this update more before releasing it. Now I'm anxious to actually get the next update that will fix the 1080p problem. Dammit, hurry up MS.
