I thought the event was on 1/7 (tomorrow)...

I am waiting on pins and needles so that I can figure out what I am going to do with my badly banded 46" set. I am leaning towards returning it to Best Buy and paying the up-charge for the 92 -- provided they are available in the next 2-4 weeks.

Sharp better hurry up...JVC, LG, and Samsung have already announced new chips with the 120hz rate. The JVC will be 52" and compete with the Sharp and Sony 52". Also, Sony and Mitsubishi announced new sets with HDMI 1.3.....again, nothing from Sharp. Maybe the best announcement from Sharp won't be 120hz and/or 1.3 but that the 92u series won't have banding.

Well, less than 2 hours for any announcement from Sharp. (I just mean we're getting closer to some details this week). Certainly wish I could be at CES to see as much as I can see. lol.

Cheers to all avsforum users that can attend. Have a great time!

If it shows up in the d92, I may have to pick up a 57d90. Westa6969 seems happy with his.

Too bad there's no live streaming video feed from the Sharp press conference... Instead it's just me hitting the Refresh on that engadget link to get the latest comments...

So westa, are we moving up to 64" of cutting-edge Aquos goodness in March or are we perfectly happy at 57" with a generation gap?

The sign from the press conference says they're shipping now

But how come we don't see the 42incher on any of the sites yet?

Anyone have an educated guess when these TVs will hit best buy?

DVI-I? That's interesting! So it'll be able to transmit both Analog and Digial signals.
So I guess we *CAN* use VGA-DVI adapters on this thing!! This is important for folks
who have an xbox 360 and a VGA cable. Just grab a cheap DVI/VGA adapter.

Anyhow, I'm a bit lost on the details of this TV. Does it include TRUD or not? Is it
HDMI 1.3 or not? It almost sounds like it's basically the current D90 series with the
new 8th gen panel, 120Hz (TRU-D or not?!?) and a new backlight system which
they didn't even mention. It seems they are keeping hush on this thing. I'm actually
disappointed the interviewers didn't ask more specific questions on this TV. I guess
it'll all be answered at the CES show booth tomorrow right? I expect such. I'm just
so surprised they didn't mention anything about the 5-wavelength backlight and
other enhancements. For the HDMI 1.3 guys out there (I'm hoping too of course)
I wouldn't fret as they just don't seem to care for those specifics. It's as if they
dumbed down things for the press conference. They actually had to be asked
about HDMI 1.3 for their blu-ray player.

Good to see that they truly are shipping now. I took the plunge and preordered this
thing a few weeks back, so it's great news to me. I am taking a huge risk on this
thing though (ie: banding of d62). Heh, I'm surprised no one asked them about
banding at the press conference. Next time I think AVS members should put some
cash together and send a representative to the show to ask some hard questions.
