Tell me the following:

1. The "Model" you have.
Olevia 527V
2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Price
3. What you like best about your LCD.
Colors are better than I thought they would be.
4. What you don't like about your LCD.
Sharpening adds a lot of edge enhancement.
5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
Little better speakers, they lack some bass.
6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
I'd market it heavier, Olevia isn't really a known brand.
7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
Contrast was much better than specs said.
8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
None so far
9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
I paid around $300 for this LCD TV. Well worth it
10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
Sometimes you can't just go by brand name. Sure the primo stuff will always be best, but if you look hard enough, you might be surprised. Only way is to try them out. So whoever's hell bent on a certain brand, try the competition sometime, you might be surprised what the little guy can pull off!.

1. The "Model" you have. Samsung lnt5271

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
PQ is amazing..the most like a crt and my wife loves it.

3. What you like best about your LCD.

PQ, glossy screen, deep blacks the WOW factor.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

Nothing as of yet

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

3D?

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD

none

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

It is huge...and I like it. We went from a 32" SD sony CRT set (xbr200). This set is much better for the viewing distances (8-16 feet). of our room. My SD DVDs look fantastic on this set.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
none

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

Yes. I bought locally and paid a fair price, then they matched another local ad which brings it down to what I paid for my Sony crt 8 years ago.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

AVS forum is addictive...read as much as you can absorb, then go out and see the set for yourself..then try not to read about new technology...just enjoy the one you have!

------------
5271 2002/Oct07 rocks for me.

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Price - Great deal!
3. What you like best about your LCD.
PQ, 3 HDMI input (1 for DVD, 1 for Computer, 1 Spare), able to discern black shades and dot-on-dot option.
4. What you don't like about your LCD.
Nothing yet.
5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
Can't think of anything yet.
6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
Better explanation on their manual.
7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
I have very basic cable - (the $12.98 kind) and I happy to get more channels using OVA and QAM tuner.
8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
No issue what so ever that people keep saying. No banding, no motion blur, no clouds and I have done my testing with TVBlink.
9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
YES! I havn't seen anyone beat my price yet and I have looked.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
It took me awhile before I decided which one I wanted. There were sooo many option out there, and I didn't know much about HDTV then. What helped me out is going to CC with my DVD player and Ratatouille movie and tested their TV's. It helped me narrowed down the TV's I considered and then research on those specific ones for issues.

1. The "Model" you have.

Sony KDL-52XBR4 - 52" Sony XBR4

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

I got it for a steal. Also, when I was comparing in the stores it came down to the Sammy 5271 and the Sony 52XBR4-I went with the XBR4 because I like the picture on it better than any other set, and on certain viewing I liked the Motion Enhancer.

3. What you like best about your LCD.

Picture Quality, Cosmetics, options, color, non-jutter.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

Nothing really, I like having the option to shut off "Motion Enhancer" because sometimes I don't like it on certain programs/viedeos/etc.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

This baby has it all.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

Work on the mura issue...my set is pretty good, but the first one I got had issues. Not to say that the majority do, but it's definatley there on some sets.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

It was a lot bigger once I had it set up, I love it.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

First one had impact dage which wasn't Sony's fault I guess, but there was slight flashlighting and mura...this set though that I have now, it's damn near perfect, I'm very satisfied.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

I could say yes, because that's just how it goes, prices go up, we have no choice but to pay or settle for the "less popular" or "lower" model. I could also say no, because for what we pay not TV is completely flawless, and it should be, but it's just not realistic.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

If you're on the fence between teh XBR4/5 and any other set like I was with the XBR4 and the Sammy 71 and Sharp 92, go with teh Sony, you'll never look back or regret it. Very well-rounded set. HD is jaw-dropping, SD is good too, but anything HD is absolutely amazing.

The best TV is in the eyes of the buyer.

1. The "Model" you have.
Toshiba 47HL167 purchased yesterday

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Price, features, size, connectivity, and price

3. What you like best about your LCD.
Picture quality and settings out of the box. The tuner was also able to pick up more "free" HD channels over Charter Cable than I expected.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
No USB port.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
See #4

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
The out of box picture quality. I was somewhat sketchy because of the reported 'green push', but went with it thinking I could either mess w/ the config settings or return it. That and the channels it's now picking up.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
None yet...knock on wood.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
Best Buy price matched the Circuit City price at $1275 for a 42" 1080P set w/ quite a few nice features and great picture quality. I'm happy w/ it. If you shop around and play your cards right, the prices can definitely be "worth it".

(1) Sony Model KDL-46XBR4 HDTV
(2) Every review that I read on the web said it is the best LCD out there.
(3) It's outstanding picture
(4) Like it
(5) That it doesn't have a cable card slot
(6) Add a cable card slot and a swivel stand and make the remote's menu return to the same place as it was in when last used.
(7) How well it was packaged and the excellent condition it was in.
(8) None
(9) No, the price is too high. But this is the best LCD on the market.
(10) There are a couple of features that I would like to see changed. I listed them above. However everything considered, I am extremely happy with this TV and the online company that I ordered it from. I paid $2900 for it including a 5 year extended warranty.

1. The "Model" you have?
Panasonic 32LX700

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model?
Superior picture, the best with compression artifacts. Smooth image, good motion detail, great off angle viewing and I got a good price.

3. What you like best about your LCD?
Great image, easy to set up, easy access to the inputs

4. What you don't like about your LCD?
The 3D sound option. Fortunately it can be shut off easily. And the top switches, we can't use any of them due to tight clearances. I imagine it would be the same for someone with it hanging on a wall. What on earth were they thinking?

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had?
An extra RF jack. Video out so I could use the tuner as a video feed for my Panny projector.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD?
Better mid-range in the sound. Male voices can sound tubby.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD?
I wasn't ready for how much sound has changed on newer TVs.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD?
Fitting it in our cabinet.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it?
Hard to say, ask me in a couple years.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
Most of the top sets look good. It really pays to take the time and make multiple visits to compare sets. There are differences in places you wouldn't expect. And if you haven't been looking at big sets, be prepared for seeing how poor some cds and cable SD really is. When it's blown up, it is appallingly bad.

1. The "Model" you have.
Olevia 747i (purchased in March of '07)

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Picture-in-Picture features, Realta HQV on-board, accepts 1080p on VGA and 1080p/24 on HDMI, 50W built-in speakers, backlit remote, terrific online reviews.

3. What you like best about your LCD.
Picture-in-Picture works like a charm and is flexible with every input, even VGA and HDMI at 1080p. Last Sunday I was watching three shows at once (a soccer match and two NFL games) using both the 747i's PIP window and a PIP window from my HD DVR cable box. Also SD performance is as good as technology will allow at present time on an LCD (needless to say HD is damn good too). Seeing is believing and the Realta HQV has made a believer out of me.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
CRT Heavy (142 lbs. ), tiny black leakage on the two bottom corners, blacks not as "inky" (1,600 CR) as that of newer HDTV's, no way to access an input directly (have to circle through all the inputs one at a time to arrive at the one you want), confusing Olevia on-screen menu with no numerical scale to share tips with fellow 747i owners.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
120Hz (but I knew going in it didn't have it), ability to tweak in small increments the brightness of the screen (only options are Dark/Medium/Bright Room), TV Guide grid, swivel stand.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
Advertise it more at B&M stores or boutique sellers that cater to AV enthusiasts (i.e. people who'd know off-hand what a Realta HQV is). Virtually everyone that owns this set stumbled upon info of it on the internet. Just because Olevia is targeting a higher-income bracket than the budget-minded consumer that buy 95% of their TV sets doesn't mean they should assume the 747i will sell itself.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
The thick glass that protects the screen and difuses the exterior lights (to make the screen non-reflective when its on) also means I can clean my TV with Windex and paper towels, something I couldn't do on most flat screen surfaces. Also coming from a lifetime of 27" SD CRT viewing to my first HDTV I thought 47" would be too big for my NYC studio apartment. Now that I've had it for eight months I wish Olevia had released a 752i model instead because 47" seems too limiting and small!

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
Tolerable light leakage in the bottom two corners of the screen. That's it really. The 747i has performed like a champ out of the box for months now without any major problem or issue.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
I paid a C-note shy of $3K when I bought the 747i back in March. While I wouldn't trade the eight months of HD bliss I've experienced for the almost $1K I would have saved (Showtime's "Dexter" alone was worth the upgrade to HD! ) I'd have to say no, the 747i isn't worth $3K. Since March prices have dropped around the $2K mark though (less at Target). For that price it's worth it only if you're not a hi-tech aficionado that wants the latest and greatest (that train sailed for the 747i the moment 120Hz HDTV's were introduced). The ace in the hole of this HDTV is the Realta HQV that works on anything (even composite and S-Video) you connect to it. This HDTV will do wonders for people that love HD but want to connect all kinds of SD gear (VCR's, Wii's, older videogame systems, etc.) for a variety of viewing needs. Too bad Olevia discontinued use of the Realta HQV for its new line of 247/52/65 LCD HDTV's coming to market now.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
I waited for months after I purchased this HDTV to post here because I wanted to make sure I was going to keep the 747i and not trade-up to the new 120Hz LCD's that are all the rage this season. Even though 120Hz is tempting (I've seen it in action and its a nice option to have) overall the 747i suits my particular needs better than most HDTV's out there. The PIP is user-friendly and smooth (unlike the pseudo-PIP on Samsung and Toshiba), 1080p and SD both look outstanding and the built-in speakers (a must since my small studio apartment isn't suited for surround sound gear) pack a loud punch. As I said in my CNet review, the Olevia 747i is for the HDTV viewer that still wants to watch lots of SD material not likely to be in HD anytime soon (like "The Price Is Right" or "Amazing Race") while getting the benefits of 1080p technology when he/she wants Blu-ray/HD-DVD/HD period to blow him/her away. If you like what you read swing by Target and see the excellent below-$2K price the 747i is selling for. It's a lotta bang for your buck.

1. Sony KDL-40W3000
2. I had a space big enough for a 40" TV and it was down to the Sony and a Sammy LNT4061. Because the TV was going in a cubby, I chose the Sony due to the speaker position in front as oppossed to the Sammy with speakers in back

3. What you like best about your LCD.
HDMI input, low screen glare

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
Picture in Picture

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
Note sound thing above. Also, I didn't get a remote, and it's hard to use without one.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
Prices keep falling, and unless you're picky and only want that major brand name ultra high end LCD for 1k more than a perfectly fine, lesser known brand, things aren't bad.

1. Vivitek LT46PL3-A (46in LCD)
2. Price--I only paid 799 for it!!!
3. The surprising PQ, HDMI+VGA hookup
4. Only one HDMI input, speakers could use some bass
5. I would say 1080p, but I am really impressed with 720p (after 1080i for years)
6. Maybe advertising?
7. This model has a samsung panel, hence the good PQ
8. The factory default black levels where awful, more like grey levels, but upon calibration it looks fantastic.
9. I was going to purchase a sony, but at this price i could not justify the large extra expense on such a small increase in PQ. so yes.

1. The "Model" you have:

52" Sony KDL-52W3000

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model:

I wanted as large a screen to fit in the space that I had. The picture quality looked great. The price was cheaper than other 1080p models I was considering (including Plasma). It came bundled with a Sony BDP-S300 Blu-ray player.

3. What you like best about your LCD:

Picture quality. PS3-style menu system. No clouding, no dead pixels. I don't see motion blur.

4. What you don't like about your LCD:

Speakers. I hooked up external speakers to get better sound.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had:

Hmm... not sure. More HDMI ports? (It already has three.) Built-in Dolby decoding, maybe? (I don't have a receiver.)

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD:

Improve the speakers. The sound gets lost if you are in a large room.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD:

I like the amount of settings I have control over, including sound settings like Voice Boost and Sound Leveling (for commercials). Blu-ray movies are absolutely amazing.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD:

After 2 weeks, the picture died on the first set that I had. I exchanged it with another one. No problems so far on the new one.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it:

I was prepared to pay a lot more, but this set went on sale and then was price protected twice. The first time I got a free Blu-ray player. The second time I got $300 back. I don't think I get a better deal this Christmas season. I was not willing to wait any longer to buy a new TV.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged:

I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase.

4. What you don't like about your LCD. Nothing, it's fantastic.

10. As a former Sony owner I was ready to purchase an 52XBR4 but after reading some reviews and seeing both side by side, I couldn't justify the $800 more for the Sony. Plus the Toshiba's build and footprint is much sleeker and stylish.

Reality Based.
