1. The "Model" you have.

Sharp LC-37SH20U

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

Great price at Sams
A great return policy
True HDTV resolution
The "Sharp" name
Both analog and digital tuners built in

3. What you like best about your LCD.

Picture Quality
Great view ability from EVERYWHERE in my room
Free HDTV with antenna
Smart stretch is surprisingly usable
60,000 hr estimated life of the backlight.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

Remote leaves more to be desired... it only controls the TV and can't be programmed to control other devices.
Color saturation lessens when viewing at angles 160 and above.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

PIP, DVI and VGA inputs

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

Add VGA and DVI inputs. Include a universal remote.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

How great I was able to get the standard analog cable picture quality to look!
The vertical/horizontal viewing angles are great even though the color saturation changes at side views.
Smart stretch is usable for 4:3 broadcast

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

None that I've found thus far. If there's any I should know about, please let me know!

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

For what I paid, definitely. But this model is $400-$500 more at some stores.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

If you're in the market for a 37" for less than $995 and don't mind buying an older model, I'd say check this model out before you buy the off brand LCDs.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
Add a Tuner, and the standard warrante is quite short only 90 days..

THe fact that it supports (scales) even super high resolutions on the VGA input

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
None yet

I think they will come down but considering what i paid ($720) for a beutiful 32"

1. The "Model" you have. -> Samsung LN-S4696D

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model. -> Research from this forum and others. In-Store Display compared to other brands. Pricing.

3. What you like best about your LCD. -> It is sleek looking which is a + for the WAF. The colors are vibrant and the contrast is great.

4. What you don't like about your LCD. -> Won't search for an active source. You have to select the input

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had. -> See #4. Also, ability to turn overscan off.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD. -> See #4 and #5 above. Otherwise this LCD has been great.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD. -> The weight (much lighter than Sony Bravia's)

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD. -> None as of yet.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it. -> It is better than it was. I remember similar sized plasmas going for over $14K a while ago.

1. The "Model" you have.
Samsung LN-S4695

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Was comparing it to the Sony 46V2500 and Sharp Aquos 46" LCD. Went to 4 different stores, and in each the Samsung had the best picture by far. Also, got it at a great price.

3. What you like best about your LCD.
The picture is great.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
Trying to figure out the settings.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
Don't know yet.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
Don't put on the swivel stand. It took me about 6 hours of aggravation and several calls to Samsung, as well as, a trip to Home Depot, Lowes, and the neighborhood hardware store to try and figure out what screwdriver to use.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
How big a 46" TV truly is. It doesn't look that big in the store.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
Trying to take off the swivel stand. Other than that, I wish when watching non-HD channels, the TV would use the whole screen, instead of just part of it.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
No. I think these TVs are too expensive. However, I believe that the price will drop soon enough like everything else.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
If you get one of these TVs it's best to get a HTIB system or some type of surround sound system. I bought the Sony DAV-DX375 home theatre system and with the TV, you would swear that you are at the movies.

Extra HDMI and Extra Component

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

More in/outs,

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

1. The "Model" you have.
Syntax Olevia 337H

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Low price with decent reviews.

3. What you like best about your LCD.
Picture size is the same, but it is much smaller than my older 40" Mitsu tube.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
Black levels aren't near as good as on the Mitsu.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
Onboard HDTV tuner, removable speakers, adjustable stand.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
Don't know enough about manufacturing to say, but an adjustable stand so you can tilt up or down a few degrees would be nice.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
Was expecting a few dead pixels, but there were none.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
None

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
In general no! I paid $670 shipped for mine and that is the cheapest I have seen a 37" that didn't involve a ton of rebates or standing in line for 6 hours

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
If you can pick up a 37" LCD for under $700 do it, they can't get much cheaper than that in the near future can they

1. The "Model" you have.
Samsung LN-S4695D

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Price and PQ.

3. What you like best about your LCD.
Piano Black finish

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
Long delay in response after you push button on controller.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
Wish it had a 3rd HDMI input like the XBR2 etc...

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
If you fix the overscan issue and add an HDMI port and can still keep the price within 100-200 dollars of current, it would probably sell way better than Sony's XBR line.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
Cute noise the set makes when you turn it on and off.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
None currently, will update if I do.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
Got an extremely good price, $2600 from BestBuy. They have dropped a tremendous amount since 1-2 years ago.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
I bought the Onkyo HTS894 5.1 Surround Sound system to go with it and it makes a world of difference. The two built in speakers work OK, but a HTIB makes it great.

Optical Output, Volume Bass/Trebble, Easy access to Video select instead of pressing one button to get at all your hookups.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

Better Quality Control on the LCD for Dead Pixel, don't send it out with any! Longer labor repair instead of just 90 days, as everyone else has 1 year in-house-labor. But they do have 2 years on the LCD Panel and 1 years on Parts.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

It's so big and it has huge widescreen 37 by 37

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

Dead Pixel, No Remote codes for Motorola DCT6412 Phase III

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.[/quote]

Other than the Dead Pixel, which is minor, but watch HD Movies and Nature shows the darn LCD 37" Widescreen was extremely wonderful to use. I still have it though... Until they have a replacement I'll hold on to it...

1. The "Model" you have.

Viewsonic N3752w

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

The Price ($999.99 Cdn) and Costco's wicked return policy initially and the clincher was the great PQ.

3. What you like best about your LCD.

3 HDMI inputs, weight, the look (all black) and excellent PQ for the price!!

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

Viewing angles could be better, and, access to the back inputs could be more accessable

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

1080p, well, eventually, but, really, it is all I need and want at this time

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

Keep up the good work but, widen the viewing angles!

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

Looking at a lot of the more expensive TV reports above, I would say the fact I have NO backlight issue with my TV is cool. I also love the that you can tweak this thing through access to the factory service menu.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

Nothing really....

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

Seriously? Thats a question...who caould go wrong at $1000 for a 37" LCD flat screen TV?

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

Over all, this TV is probably the best bang for your cash right now, lotsa inputs, great PQ, built in ATSC tuner and tweakability...

Sony 52" XBR3
2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
I like Sony products
3. What you like best about your LCD.
1080p, floating glass design, many inputs, picture quality controls
4. What you don't like about your LCD.
So far I think it's awesome!
5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
It came stock with more than I need already.
6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
Make it cheaper?.
7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
How happy I was I got LCD and not Plasma. We have lots of windows!
8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
None
9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
I'm 48. How much longer can I wait? Remember 5 years ago, a 50" plasma was $15,000.00?....

Love it. Love it. Love it. Best picture, color, and depth I've ever seen!!!

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

1. Olevia 237V
2. Cheap cheap cheap. I never saw one in the flesh, just decided to do an impulse purchase from a web site having a crazy special.
3. Picture is great, even zoomed SD is not bad. Loads of inputs including VGA.
4. Not compatible with other multi-function remotes. No way to jump to a specific input, have to scroll thru them all.
5. Standard remote codes and direct input selection
6. Adopt standard remote codes.
7. General PQ and specifically the lack of backlight bleed, which I assumed would be worse on a "budget" panel like this. I don't tend to use this set in totally dark rooms for theater purposes, though.
8. Nothing to complain about yet.
9. Only bought it because of the deep discount - wound up paying pretty much what I paid for my last new TV (an 8 year old 32" sony trinitron tube)
10. Glad I took a chance on an unknown brand. It was a risky dice roll but so far so good.

1. The "Model" you have. - SONY KDL-40v2500 1080p HD LCD

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model. - 20 trips to best buy and Circuit city to compare the picture qualities betweem Samsung and Sony and Sharp. Also had a friend with a wholesaler tax ID and he got me a great price, no tax/delivery

3. What you like best about your LCD. - cabinet design, front facing speakers (not hidden), picture quality

4. What you don't like about your LCD. - would like a 3rd side input HDMI

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had. - PIP

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD. - keep doing what you are doing, the picture quality is amazing in HD

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD. -- 40 inches in store doesn't compare to what 40 inches hanging on wall feels like, love it

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD. - nothing so far, fingers crossed

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it. - if you can get a good deal on it, absolutely, i remember seeing a Philips 42 plasma in short hill s mall 5 years ago for 10 grand

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged. -- I did a lot of fieldwork on LCD's and truely feel that SONY is the best set out there at this time. Not to say that SHARP/SAMSUNG/TOSHIBA aren't goot sets, but everytime i saw this set compared to the others, there was no competition, hands down the best PQ out there.

1. The "Model" you have.
Samsung LN-S4092

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Online reviews - didn't compare at retail, or even look at an LCD for that matter.
Cost difference $390 for the 46" bit too rich for my blood. This will make a great bedroom TV in 4 years, when I get the latest technology then (hopefully at lower cost too).

3. What you like best about your LCD.
Awesome PQ from any input, can't imagine noticing better PQ at 1080p than what I have.
Viewing angle, form factor, energy saver mode.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
slow switching between inputs, and 40" is not really 46", but actually 40"

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
free lifetime bulb replacement
virtual reality picture mode
other than that, i'm good.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
50/50 split screen PIP
programmable disable/skip unused inputs when switching between them

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
SD PQ is excellent via S-vid, but via HDMI is almost as good too

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
Nada (after a whole 8 hours)

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
Yup, relative to 6 mos. ago. Mine was cheap cheap cheap (well, $1530, not bad anyway) delivered free w/no tax via Amazon (2-week wait - perfect on arrival)

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
I am glad I purchased online from an authorized dealer. Also glad I got Belkin PF40 power center - even made my Sony Wega 27" flat CRT look better for the brief time is was connected.

1. The "Model" you have.

Sharp LC-37XD1E

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

The price and quality of the set. Imo Sony and SHarp make the best LCD sets.

3. What you like best about your LCD.

Classy design, 1080p, fantastic PQ, handles SD better then any other HD set I've seen.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

The fact that VGA and Component doesn't accept 1080p. The viewing angles are not very good at all!

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

Dedicated component connections, a separate VGA and DVI one.
More picture options whilst in VGA and Component mode.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

Add more ports! Speeden up the menu. I hear some LCD's suffer banding issues, mine might suffer from it slightly, work on PQ and offer customers quick replacements!

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

The SD quality, it's phenomenal! Much better then even the Sony X range.
Blows my old Sony Bravia away too.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

Read above.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

Not really, but then again, Sharp are actually pretty cheap. I paid only £1100 for mine after 20 mins haggling on Tottenham Court Road (London).

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

This screen is FANTASTIC!

1. The "Model" you have.

Westinghouse 37w3 37"1080p

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

I practically stole it at the price I got after thanksgiving at J&R online. 1080p monitor is best for gaming on pc, htpc use, full detail shown for 1080i content and full 1080p for bluray/hddvd.

3. What you like best about your LCD.

Great PQ, especially over hdmi. 6 1080p inputs! good upscaling as far as my untrained eye can tell. Pixel size is great, 1920x1080 is perfect resolution at 4 foot distance as I cant see the pixels. I think anything larger than 40" in the future should have more pixels, like 2560x1600.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

Deinterlacing leaves a little to be desired, ghosting on interlaced content. Black level is not as good as crt, but thats normal for lcd. VGA for some reason overscans four pixels width on the left when scaling 1024x768.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

One more HDMI input. Multiple fill/zoom/stretch modes instead of only 'fill' and 'standard'. Center channel 'in' for using the builtin speakers for center channel.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

A universal remote would have been nice. The deinterlacer could be better.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

I can pick it up myself with no strain, whereas I dread when my mother needs me to help move her 35" tube tv- it takes two people straining to move that thing. My girlfriends old vhs tapes of MysteryScienceTheater3000 look better though the composite than I have ever seen them, I thought they would be unwatchable when scaled so much. In addition to PIP it has two other modes: POP, which puts the little second picture beside the main instead of over it; and PBP, which I love, it puts two pictures split screen sidebyside.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

Only problem is the four pixel overscan on vga at 1024x768, but that really doesn't affect anything.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

I paid US899 plus 62 shipping. This was half what I expected to pay. Prices are definately coming down and I got way more than my moneys worth. In three years I expect to upgrade to a 50" 2560x1600 lcd for similar price with better blacks, led backlighting, and better scaling and all digital inputs.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

This is a monitor and best used as such. Recomended most for HTPC. Best when fed a good 1080p signal. Thats why its so cheap, its not a tv, its a monitor.

1. The "Model" you have.

Insignia (Best Buy house label) 15" LCD

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

The VERY low sale price.

3. What you like best about your LCD.

Well, the price was right.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

Everything. The picture quality stinks. Which brings me to the point about a low price on junk.....it ain't worth it. It's like getting a 90% discount on a broken car. At the end of the day, the car is still broken.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

First it was "Enhanced Definition". That means anything smaller than a billboard is unwatchable.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

Go back and redesign a real LCD set.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

That the picture quality was so awful.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

See above.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

I could've saved some money the day after Thankdsgiving on "no-name" big screens, but I went for a Sony 1080 LCD for my bedroom for a lot more money and I'm very happy I did. I should have waited for my kitchen TV instead of buying this Insignia junk.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

Think carefully before you buy....and do what feels right.

1. The "Model" you have.

Sharp Aquos LC-40C37U

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

Sharp LCD notoriety, ideal size, great Costco price (with even greater Costco satisfaction guarantee)

3. What you like best about your LCD.

Dazzling PQ, surprisingly bright, 2 HDMI inputs

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

Non-swivel base - not much else

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

Not really a wish, but 1080p "peace of mind" would have been nice.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

-

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

That 37" turned out to be ideal for our living room (was considering 40-42" models)

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

zilch

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

Sure.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

The set rocks. May be the best value in a <42" non-1080p LCD available right now.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
maybe a backlit remote

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

None so far. only had it for 4 days though

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

shop around. I got this TV for $700 less than some retailers are asking for it.

1. The "Model" you have.
Sony KDL-40V2500

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Styling!, 1080p, Bedroom needed a TV (so did wife, me and the 360 took over the big one), Sony Brand

3. What you like best about your LCD.
PQ with tweaks applied, nice stereo imaging

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

Perfect feature set for a bedroom TV

fix clouds

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
Light weight and ease of setup. Black Levels Rock!

Build date of November 2006 - some visible clouds with completely dark bedroom (no ambient light), TV brightness turned way up and no input. Haven't noticed it under normal (or close to normal) viewing conditions.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
Some yes, some maybe, some no - did fair on this one with sale and coupon.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
Don't get anal about things that you can "almost see if you try and man I gotta take it back."

1. The "Model" you have.

Sony KDL-40S2010
2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

Well, I was going back and forth and initially went with the Panasonic 42" HD plasma (which looked amazing), but I was completely consumed by fear of burn in (even if it is ridiculous) since I'm a pretty avid gamer. I found this TV for a nice price and it was a good size.

3. What you like best about your LCD.
The black panel is nice, HDTV is pretty damn clear and games look really, really nice on it.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

The nature of LCD's in general. The Panasonic plasma had great black levels and going to LCD was a noticeable difference.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

1080p and another HDMI slot.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

More HDMI inputs please.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

The peace of mind that came without having to worry about burn in. Just how white whites seem to get. The panel is really nice looking, too.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

None. No dead pixels, no clouds that I can see, none of that bad stuff.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

Definitely, especially if you catch good sales. I got my 40" LCD for $1500. Not bad at all, I don't think.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

Think before you buy. I jumped the gun on the initial purchase and was filled with doubt (in some ways, I still kind of question whether to go with 1080p or not). I ended up trading in one TV and almost doing it a second time, nearly becoming one of those annoying customers.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
No integrated HDTV tuner, I suppose. Too new to tell.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
None that I can think of or may be an integrated HDTV tuner.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
None that I can think of.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
None

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
None (just got it two days ago and put it up last night)

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
Ease of set up.
8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
None of far
9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
SO far. Started this trip after watching the same tvs for over 10 yrs. Got hooked on all the HDTV stuff. Started with DirectTV HD-20 RX and Sanyo 32477. Not bad for a while till I realized the limited selection of HD. Then TV got the "Greenies" and had to replace. Next choice was ILO 32" Bad choice. Trouble initializing that set. The Initialize function was required each time I started the set. Used Walmarts 30 day feature and now we are viewing the new Sanyo. The improvement is great.
10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged
Not at this time. Current config is 2 weeks old. Only time will tell.

More to follow if anything changes. Great topic!!

1. The "Model" you have.
Philips 42PF7421D/37

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Wife. Not a what but well...

3. What you like best about your LCD.
Decent bedroom set.
Simple software update.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
- Remote does not work with anything but the TV, even same brand!
- Noticable uneven back light if viewing off axis (as little as 30 degrees).

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
- Digital audio in and analog audio out, like the 37PF9431D/37.
- S/N meter for OTA reception. If this represents the only ATSC tuner in your home, good luck with antenna selection and placement should you choose this route.
- Program guide. Many older tuners have this, there is no reason it cannot be done here.
- Toggle and skip buttons for A/V inputs.
- More than one personal video profiles.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
See 4 and 5 above.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
It worked even with severe abuse from UPS. I was for sure it had to go back when I could see part of both the front and back of the TV without opening the box.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
None just yet. Hopefully it stays that way.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
We wouldn't have bought otherwise.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
