1. The "Model" you have. Sony 46EX500

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model. It was either this or a Samsung 630. I chose Sony because of of good color rendition, no display lottery, quality brand, lots of connection choices. I chose 46" vs 40 because of recommendations on watching distance vs tv size said 46. Wanted 120 Hz basic tv; didn't need bling.

3. What you like best about your LCD. People look real!

4. What you don't like about your LCD. Can't think of anything, except that these tvs all seem to have a one year warranty. For the first time in my life, I purchased an extended warranty.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had. None.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD. Why do I have to search the entire channel range to find channel 3 or 4? I'm sure I'm going to have fun trying to get all my OTA local channed programmed.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD. It's bigger in my home than it looks in the store.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD. I've had it less than a week and so far, so good.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it. Yes. I'm generally pretty cheap and don't buy newest just to have it. I think it's a good time to upgrade to a basic LCD tv as prices have come down as models with fancier features have come out.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

I had a 27" Costco special lcd tv. I'm glad I spend the additional $130 for the 46" tv. Don't skimp on size if you have HD! If you have a choice of bigger tv or more features, go for size :-)

I still had 1997 Dish 300 receivers. I upgraded to a new system with lots of HD channels and it's great. I also hooked up my audtioengine a5 speakers to the tv and enjoy the better sound than the tv offers.

Honestly I would not have thought that upgrading would give me such pleasure but I'm really enjoying my new tv setup!

1. The "Model" you have.
SONY KDL46EX400

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Great black level. Bought this after returning Samsung LN40C630 and UN46C5000. I was bothered by the bluish tint on the blank screen on the Samsung 630 and the clouding on the 5000

3. What you like best about your LCD.
Black level/contrast. No clouding. There will always be some bleeding as I have not heard of a perfectly dark/uniform LCD or LCD/LED. The uniformity is very decent on this. Some owners have mentioned that it depends on the batch. May be I was lucky.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
The remote buttons for the menu are a bit too close. Many times I exit the menu instead of pressing the down arrow key. But got used to it after a while. The buttons should have been wide apart.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
Nothing that I can think of. I use it mainly for watching HD cable. I have not watched any DVD yet

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
Keep working on getting a more uniform blank screen (black level) and improve the remote. I believe the SONY uses the same Samsung panels but them why is the picture and uniformity better on the SONY?

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
Nothing about the picture as I knew it was better than Samsung LCD after spending a lot of time at the store. I was surprised by the simple stand. Much less complicated than the Samsung which had 10 screws!! Samsung's packaging of the remote, power cord etc. was lose in the box. SONY had everything tight in place. The rear of the SONY has 2 pockets to put the fingers and lift the TV out of the box. This was cool.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
Nothing so far. People talk about ghosting on this TV but I dont play games.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
Yes. $698 for this TV is definitely worth it. LG and Samsung are more expensive.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
Don't be hung up on rating/reviews on the net. I always thought Samsung LCD's are the best. I just walked into BB and bought the Samsung LN40C630 during the thanksgiving sale. I didn't bother about other brands. I was disappointed when I went home and hooked it up. Same with the UN46C5000 (picture was great but the clouding bothered me). May be I could have saved another $100 if I had bought the SONY KDL46EX400 during the thanksgiving sale. I wonder what the price of the SONY was that time at BB. Anyway... I am going to get the KDL32EX400 for the other room.

1. The "Model" you have.

Sony KDL-46NX810

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

Price ($500 rebate), Stunning PQ, 3D capability (if I am interested later)

3. What you like best about your LCD.

PQ, deep blacks, natural colors, ease of setup

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

Speakers - useless. Had to hook it up to my integrated amp even just for TV.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

None

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

PQ trumps everything...but install a speaker that actually is usable.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

How good it looked once i tweaked it...and how bad the sound was.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

Just the sound...

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

With the pre-Christmas competition, poor sales, etc. driving down prices...yes

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

Screen is reflective, but not as much as a plasma (IMO) so it doesn't bother me as much as I had feared. The PQ really is better than anything else I looked at, and the price was unbelievable, so it was a no brainer.

1. The "Model" you have.

LG 55LE5400

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

After doing over 80 hours of research and even taking my DVR and BD player to test different sets "in store" , the picture quality of the LG LED LCD priced around 1500-1800 for the 55" seemed to far surpass the value of other sets in that price point/size point.

3. What you like best about your LCD.

Picture quality.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

The bright spots around the bottom right edge, I think that's referred to as "flash lighting".

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

Integrated Wifi.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

Integrate a wifi adapter.

7.What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

Moving from a 50" Samsung 1080p DLP to a 55" 120 HZ LED LCD is a huge difference. I knew it would be better, I just wasn't prepared for how much better it wound up being. Let me put it this way, my wife who can barely tell the difference between 480p and 1080p as far as picture quality is even amazed with how much more crisp and bright our new TV looks using everything else the same.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

The only real issue I've seen so far has been two bright spots near the bottom right of the screen that are annoying at worst while watching full black screens or movies that are letter boxed.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

I am on the fence about this one. Considering that a new TV is basically 1-3 weeks worth of pay for the average Joe, I'm not convinced that TV's are balanced yet in their pricing. I think we are close to the 1080p 120-240HZ tv balance point but we're not there yet. I think another 20-25% baseline reduction in price would be appropriate.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

Tweaking (amateur calibration) the picture is almost a necessity when buying from a big box store. I definitely suggest at least running through a built in calibration if your tv has one.

1. The "Model" you have.

Sony KDL55NX810

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

Combination of unbeatable price, reviews and features including 3-D, size, PQ and built in wireless trans.

3. What you like best about your LCD.

Hmm...I can't pick so I'll say I love the ease with which I can connect to sites such as YouTube, Netflix and Amazon on Demand. I do a lot with YouTube and hated having to connect my laptop to the television in order to watch.

Pretty cool that I can log into my Photobucket Accts. from a widget. I just wish I could figure out how to upload some photos to be used as "frames". There is one, gorgeous, factory issued photo that can be used as a frame but for the life of me, I can not figure out how to upload my own.

I also love how clear the 3-d is. No, it isn't IMAX quality, but it is pretty remarkable and makes the viewing experience special.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

I can't seem to view HD YT clips. Don't know if that is the TV or something else.

I may be overlooking the feature but I can't seem to figure out how to get to an internet browser on the TV. It isn't a huge problem as I have that feature on my PS3, but I can't understand why the feature wouldn't be present for the TV as well.

Again, both of these issues could totally be the result of user error.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

At the moment, access to an internet browser, or at least the ability to figure out how to access it. Other than that and uploading photos to be used as frames, the TV has pretty much everything I could ever need.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

If there is no internet browser, add one.

This doesn't pertain to the actual TV product but, rather, to the accessories. The Sony 3-d glasses are simply too heavy. It makes 3-d viewing incredibly uncomfortable, especially to those of us who are unfortunate enough to have to wear glasses. I don't want to have to pop in contacts just to watch 3-d. I do hope/suggest they are in the process of attempting to make these accessories lighter.

PQ is great but it I think it is even better/clearer on some of the higher end Sony models. I know I can't have everything but I think Sony should continue to strive to work on that.

Consider featuring a built-in 3-d transmitter.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

How freakin' gorgeous the monolithic screen looks on this product. I just rolled my eyes while I was researching and I got to this portion of the set's description. I only cared about the PQ and other workable features. Why on earth would I care about how the TV's physical appearance? I couldn't have been more wrong. Sometimes, I just like looking at the set while it is off. That is how handsome it is. Well done, Sony!

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

None, really. I had an incredibly difficult time getting my PS3 and TV to communicate when I first hooked them up but it eventually was resolved. Apparently, it is a common issue. No harm, no foul.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

If people get a similar deal to me, it absolutely is worth it. I won't give the exact amount of the total purchase but I got the TV, 3d starter kit (3-d Alice in Wonderland movie, 2 3-d glasses, 1 3-d transmitter, 1 hdmi cable) and a PS3 in one bundle. The price for what I got was phenomenal. Not to mention that Sony threw in two free 3-d Blu Ray DVD's and 4 free 3-d PS3 games I didn't anticipate. Yeah, there is no beating that deal. No regrets. No regrets at all.

I'm also considering getting the LN40C630 and I also wondered how the TV handled older gaming systems like Nintendo and Super Nintendo.

1. The "Model" you have.
Toshiba 32C100U

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Had to replace a dying Vizio VX32L. Cheap, no overscan.

3. What you like best about your LCD.
The "Native Mode" option to disable overcan, the solid black levels.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
Motion artifacting - a LOT. Horizontal bands of uneven brightness. Few inputs. Bevel is all curved, so I can't balance my Wii sensor on it.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
I'm not very interested in advanced features.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
To fix the artifacting and uniformity problems, of course!

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
The biggest, most unpleasant was the motion artifacting. There was also a blue accent on the bottom of the bezel, which looks nice, but I didn't notice it in any of the pictures.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
Dark objects on light backgrounds leave huge, thick, dark motion smears. This is not a problem with most content, but some scenes are almost unwatchable because of it. Screen uniformity is poor - corner flares are constant and there are horizontal bands of uneven brightness across the screen.

9. Do you really think that today's "Prices" are worth it.
It was VERY cheap, about $270. Obviously, you get what you pay for.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
I wouldn't recommend this TV... too many image issues.

1. The "Model" you have.
KDL 55NX810

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
This forum! I was set on a Sammy UN55C800 until I learned about the cursed "input lag", then I was gonna buy a LG 55 (i forgot the model) until I did research and heard about the banding issues, then I went back and forth between a sony HX800 and NX810 until I went and saw them in person and the NX810 had better PQ.

3. What you like best about your LCD.
I haven't owned a TV in 7 years, I love the PQ and the fact that i HAVE A TV! ;-)

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
Nothing yet, the color is crazy but I haven't mucked with the settings yet, (I got it yesterday and have been gaming like crazy!) Ah! the sound is horrid! I've seen some calibration recommendations around here, just got to track them down and give them a try...

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
I'm pretty happy with everything.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
Not sure how you could get better sound with those tiny speakers... so I think i dont have suggestions yet.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
Looked bigger in my livingroom... Looked even better than in the store, so it was a GOOD surprise.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
none yet, everything has been very easy so far..

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
Hmmm, not sure. With patience you can find a decently priced TV, even it it includes waiting for a slightly older model. I would not have paid the "SRP" for this thing... no way...

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
I spent about a gazillion (not exaggerating) hours on this forum and found out more than I ever wanted to know about buying a TV, this forum as well as insane amounts of research made me prepared to make the best decision for my needs and happily I stumped the sales folks on many topics... (I don't think they were expecting a woman to know THAT much about TVs...) There is such a great wealth of info here that I wanted to thank everyone for somehow having 99% of my questions already answered here in one form or another. I'm really thrilled with my new TV! No onto sound bar research!

1. The "Model" you have.

Panasonic TC-L42U25

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

price, reviews, looked at the one at best buy and was happy with what i saw

3. What you like best about your LCD.

it's not the 20" SDTV i was using when my Sony KV40XBR800 died, no HDMI issues with my AVR (my AVR seems to have issues with a few displays with HDCP compliant DVI inputs), acceptable picture quality

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

120Hz without 5:5 playback of 24fps content, only basic controls for color/tint, 3:2 pulldown on the TV blows... my PS3 and HD-A20 do a much better job, some overscan on 720p signals, no "auto" mode for aspect ratio, no 1080p over component or (at least according to manual) PC input

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

see above

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

if possible to do it with a firmware upgrade add 5:5 playback and some advanced picture controls to the user menu

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

none

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

firmware update does not work

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

i hear so much about LCD prices being kept "artificially high" but i'm not sure how much of that is BS

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

none

1. The "Model" you have.

SONY XBR40LX900

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

Features & its the top of the line for this size.

3. What you like best about your LCD.

Looks? PQ? Crossbar Menu? Built in 3D? Built in Wireless?

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

I don't like how I can't access Files and Folders on a Network Share. DNLA only and even then it's very picky about what types of files it will play.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

See Above. Also, maybe local dimming, but I haven't noticed a problem.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

See #4

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

How beautiful it really is! Nice job SONY.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

Intermittantly turns off, probably a feature I am mis-using.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

Considering I paid $200 less for a top of the line 35" tube TV 15 years ago... yes, the Sale price was worth it. But it is expensive.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
Logitech is the only company that makes a decent remote. Sorry SONY, you do a nice job but you could do so much better in this department!

HD picture quality, styling and price.

3. What you like best about your LCD.
The quality of the HD picture.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
The quality of the SD picture. Looks OK through the HDMI cable but not so hot using the composite or S-Video cables. My old CRT set looked much better in this respect.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
More than 1 HDMI input.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
The ability to call up a specific video source directly instead of cycling through all of them.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
I was pleasantly surprised at how good the PC picture looked when connected to my laptop.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
So far, none.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
For the most part, yes. However for the average TV buyer who'd end up watching more SD than HD programming then NO.
prettty awesome answere in each category..!!

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
The picture, slim design, and price

3. What you like best about your LCD.
How clear and sharp the picture is.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
The light leakage from all four corners during black or dark scenes.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
None.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
Fix the light leakage problem! I am now on my second tv in less than a week and will most likely be exchanging this one in hopes of getting one that does not have this issue.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
Came with free WiFi adapter.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
See #6

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
Not sure if I'm going to keep this one. May look at a comparable Sony 46NX711 or Vizio LCDs.
