1. The "Model" you have:
Samsung UN55C6500

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model:
Eight months of comparative viewing and then waiting for the price to come down at one of my bookmarked websites.

3. What you like best about your LCD:
The picture, obviously. When watching blu-ray, it no longer looks like I'm watching a movie. More like I'm on the set and watching actors in real time.

4. What you don't like about your LCD:
The god awful chrome stand which really didn't figure into the equation since the plan was to wall mount.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had:
The ability for one of the hot actresses to pop out of the movie and make me a sammich when I pause the action.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD:
Do something about certain panels so there's less po'd people in the Samsung threads.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD:
That the wife actually liked it.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD:
Not one.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it:
Depends on what you have your eye on and what you personally are willing to pay. In my case, yes.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged:
Trust me. Not every HDTV out there has a problem. Some do. Some don't. I spent a month troubleshooting for the usual problems. None found that was worth talking about. Remember...people come to this forum the way some people see their pastor and that's when they have a problem. Do your homework and take the plunge. If you have a problem, be proactive.

"I am NOT suffering from insanity... I happen to be enjoying myself!"

Just got a new LCD Flat Panel? Post it here ONLY. Please do not post projection models.

Tell me the following:

1. The "Model" you have.
LG 55LH90

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Local dimming, THX certification

3. What you like best about your LCD.
Great color saturation, and almost candy apple color character. It's enjoyable to look at what this TV displays.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
Slight blooming with white letters on black backround, inconsistent black level when viewing movies with what is supposed to be consistent black aspect ratio bars. Seems sometimes like the program written to adjust the local dimming feature needs to be tweaked to improve consistency of blacks in the image, especially in contrast to brighter neighboring zones.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
I wish it was an OLED but that is impossible, so for what it is, it's pretty darn great.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
Bring on the OLEDs! LCD is good and you can try to minimize it's weaknesses only so much. LCDs have obvious flaws but still look good on most content.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
I expected it to be a more perfect TV. I had high expectations. It's not a perfect set, but I've since learned LCD by design can't overcome the things that I wish it did well.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
No issues.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
10 years ago, I would have paid over $3000 for an inferior 55" RPTV. Considering I paid $1673 after rebate, it's amazing I got a TV of this quality. Today's prices are more than fair IMO.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
Despite this TV having a matte finish anti-glare screen, the sharpness is very, VERY good having ACED every sharpness pattern I've displayed on this thing. Edges are noise-free and there is plenty of razor sharp accuracy without adding any info that shouldn't be in the picture. For instance, when there is video of a cityscape of buildings being panned, the edges of buildings don't "shimmer" like so many other sets I've seen (unless there is an error in the source video from some kind of interlacing/de-interlacing). I recommend using 'medium' gamma for daytime viewing and 'low' gamma for night viewing to keep blacks as deep as possible. 'medium' gamma tends to have noticeably better contrast/shadows/shading but in dark room'd viewing, the deepest black isn't truly black, close but just shy of what I want, however, during viewing with competing room light, medium gamma is gorgeous. 'low' gamma for pitch black room viewing is required for truly deep blacks but the contrast/shadows/shading isn't quite as realistic as it could be. Still, even on 'low' gamma, this set looks really, really good. These pictures were all shot with the 'medium' gamma settings. Most people will honestly say that the blacks are deep enough even on medium gamma but there are moments here and there where I swear the local dimming programming in this set gets confused and fails to dim it's sectors enough and other times where it dims sectors and not others giving a slight 'uneven' look to some items on a black backround. For instance, on netflix, the screen just before your video starts, there is is a bar at the bottom that shows the progress of buffering. Part of the white border where the red progress bar grows across is brighter than the other and as the red progress meter fills up to the right, the white border gets brighter. This clearly shows me there is MUCH room for improvement in local dimming.

Showing off the black level this set is capable of in a pitch black room. It's really good for an LCD.

And yes, the pictures here look virtually identical to the picture I see on this TV. I was definitely nitpicking on my critiques of this set. It's clear to see in my pictures that this set is one great LCD when tuned up.

1. The "Model" you have.

Vizio M420NV

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

It is a LCD/LED with 1080p, 120HZ Refresh rate, which makes it perfect for HD gaming

3. What you like best about your LCD.

Great picture and sound, many features

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

Not anything so far

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

I wouldn't mind having web apps, but my PS3 does all of that already

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about
your LCD.

Not anything at the moment

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

How thin it is

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

None

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

A good TV is expensive, but it is worth the price for quality

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

This TV is 42 inches diagonally, so it makes it perfect for a average side room, it includes 4 HDMI ports and 3 USB ports for Multimedia, so it can be a real crowd pleaser for multiple devices and media sharing. It has a very slim and streamline look, though the glossy cabinet may be susceptible to fingerprints and smudges.

My 26LE5300 arrived three days ago. I'm so glad I found this forum when I was in my research phase. This is my first tv in 8 years. I do not think I have the panel that everyone spoke of in the threads even thoguh my code on my box was the same as some of the ones that said they got the better panel. However I cannot be more pleased with it! Now I can watch pretty nature programs till I get sick of crisp and pretty Cheetahs and fish haha!

1. The "Model" you have.
LG 26le5300
2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Price/Review/Size

3. What you like best about your LCD.
Picture,

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
I want to run it through my old stereo with a red/white audio cable but it looks like the audio wont accept that sort of connection.
5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
Picture in Picture, better sound.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
I haven't had it long enough to make that sort of review.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
Lip sync issues

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
The green hue of the image when I first turned it on scared the crap out of me. I would think the tv should be calibrated right out of the box.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
I think there should be more options for 26 inch tv's, 26 is the perfect size for me and I was really disapointed in the choices I had. Really I felt like the LG was the best bang for my buck but I wish I could have had two tv selections to chose from.

1. The "Model" you have.
Panasonic 37DT30

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Viewing angles, IPS quality screen

3. What you like best about your LCD.
Blue Ray movies and 720p TV shows look amazing, even with Motion Pro 5 enabled on high.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
I wish they made the same features in a 46" screen size.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
Componant stereo out to hook up to powered monitor speakers.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
Componant stereo out to hook up to powered monitor speakers.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
This is my first LED screen... it's even thinner then I expected, yet very rugged feeling. The sound quality is excellent as well!

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
None whatsoever.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
~$1,000 for a 37" screen was a bit steep, but the build qualty surpasses Sony (My former preferred manufacterer) by a wide margin.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
If small screen size isn't an issue, you would be foolish to pass up this TV as an option. Watching Avatar and Game of Thrones was like looking through a window, not a TV.

Good comments on LD series. Plenty of options to adjust the picture. Availability.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
How thin it is. Not much thicker than my father's LED.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
Faint vertical bands/lines easily noticeable when the image is moving (during a hockey game for example). It's going back for a replacement.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
Only on special: some places have prohibitive prices. I have to buy or else I would wait a bit.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
Input lag with the playstation move notably. I'm sure it would be problematic for rhythm games or shooters.

1. The model I have.
Toshiba 32FT2U (Best Buy Exclusive) 1080p.

2. What convinced me to purchase this particular model.
Toshiba name and low price. Purchase on-line and store pickup.

3. What I like best about my LCD.
I use it as a big computer monitor and to watch HD-DVD & Blu Ray discs from
my computer using Any DVD HD and Corel Win DVD 9 Plus. I have an extensive
collection of HD DVD's and am buying Blu-Rays now. I have an LG GGH20L combo
drive which plays HD-DVD and plays and writes Blu_Ray. (Haven't tried the write
feature yet.

4. What I don't like about my LCD.
The text is a bit soft even though it's 1920 x 1080p. Might be a function of the large size.

5. What features do I wish my LCD had.
It has everything I need for what I want to do. I suppose I wish I had more control
over the picture settings but I am using HDMI so I am pretty much limited by the
four picture pre-sets in the main menu. The PC mode seems to be the best compromise for all my viewing.

6. What advice or suggestion would I make to the Mfr. about my LCD.
Make this set generally available and not just thru Best Buy.

7. What was my biggest surprise after I received my LCD.
Because I only sit two feet away, I was worried I would find it too big.
Not so.

8. What problems or issues have I had with my LCD.
Basically just the type res and It doesn't really bother me very much.

9. Do I really think today's prices are worth it?
It's technology man! I bought as Franklin Ace OMS computer in 1983 and paid
$2200 for it without a monitor. I just built an Intel i7 2600k with 8 gb of ram
a terrabite HD, an ATI 5770 Video card, 750w Bronze 80 PS, Pioneer 206 Blu ray
read/write and an LG GGH20L combo Blu Ray/HD Dvd drive all top notch stuff for
about $1600! I'm sure in the future prices will fall. That said, I still prefer plasma
for best picture quality. If somebody made a 32" 1080p plasma I'd probably be all over it.

Philips 55PFL5505

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
  • Price
  • Picture Quality

3. What you like best about your LCD.
  • Very bright, sharp image (great for my living area)
  • Fantastic value

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
  • thick bezel
  • unattractive menu displays
  • somewhat limited overscan adjustment options
  • annoying HDCP sync issue with my STB
  • no discrete remote commands for switching inputs

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

Address/Fix items #3,4,5 noted above via firmware - no additonal features required.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

See above

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

Superb image quality and black levels despite being a budget purchase.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

Scenes with greenery (i.e. grass) exhibits a subtle -but noticeable- white snow/sparkle effect (white pixels appearing/disappearing) on broadcast TV.

Also, see Question 4, point 4.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

Absolutely, yes - TV prices have come down drastically in the past several years due to the maturation and continued evolution of flat panel display technology. My first HDTV was a 50" 720p DLP which cost me $2600 in 2005 - this one cost me $900 and is superior in every way.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

Despite a few annoying quirks, I really love my new TV on the whole.

Until I use a serious flash this will have to do.

1. The "Model" you have.
Emerson 32" WalMart

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Price

3. What you like best about your LCD.
It's so much better than the 30" Sony CRT that it replaced

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
It's not even close to state of the art.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
RCA stereo audio outputs. We don't all put HDMI in the spare room.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
See #5

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
That it didn't have audio outputs. And that for local news, DISH SD, Wii, and dvds it's fine.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
None

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
More than worth it. A new bulb for my Panny projector (w/ 93" screen) in the big room just cost me almost a c-note more than this tv alone.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
I probably should have done more research and been more patient. I probably could have snagged a better tv for less.

1. The "Model" you have.

47LD420 (2010 model)

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Price (588 euros with shipping), Color (seen in many market, don't found any real pro test of this tv on the net, so i trust my eyes)

Low input lag (from users all over the net).
Picture quality.
Low Ghosting (from users all over the net).

3. What you like best about your LCD

Low input lag, low ghosting, clear and very good picture for the price, very good Pc gaming Tv

Too Big to play on 50cm away with a mouse and a keyboard? No!

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

Only 47? ^^
2 HDMI, don't need more for now, but we never know.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

It is fine for me.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

Do more simple 60hz Tv with even more low input lag and no ghosting like a good TN 2ms pc monitor ;D
No need for fake 100/120hz for pc gaming.
Do real 120hz. (let the graphic card do it like on monitor^^)

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

Size :O
Quality.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

SO FAR NOTHING

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

Yes! With 3D going on, Simple 60hz lcd CCFL Tv are getting cheaper and cheaper, you can get an 46/47 inch for a very good price now.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

I recommand it for pc gamers. IF you want no ghosting and input lag at all, then go for 120hz pc monitor.

But between 30 and 19 ms i don't think you'll see any difference, i don't saw any from my 2253bw Barely more ghosting, very very barely

1. The "Model" you have.
LG42LK450

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
PQ comparison at Best Buy. I felt the PQ was as good as any similar LCD, including Samsung, Sony and others. Plus decent sound quality and volume, especially compared to the competition. Finally the price I paid was very reasonable.

3. What you like best about your LCD.
Excellent picture quality.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
Nothing so far.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
I can't think of anything.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
Continue to make great TV's.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
I kept reading things about "terrible blacks" and I fully expected blacks to look somewhat gray. Not the case at all. Blacks are really black, as they should be. Another thing I liked was how sturdy the stand is. Finally, my wife loves the new TV, which is a surprise to me as she didn't want it initially.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
None so far.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
I paid a very reasonable price, I believe. But I didn't opt to get one of the newer LED sets. Overall I think the price for TV's is kind of high.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
I also bought an LG wireless Blu-ray player (BD670) which is excellent.

Akai LCT3201AD - 32" w/DVD

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

On sale at Office Depot ($599), and it fit my entertainment center.

3. What you like best about your LCD.

CSI:Miami in 1080i

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

SD shows, lack of ability to turn to a specific OTA HD channel, then adjust my antenna for best picture.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

PIP... but that will soon be remedied with an SA 8300 HD.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.

Use VESA mounting holes and make the DVD player upconvert instead of just progressive. Also, have 'direct' access buttons on the remote for each input, having to cycle through 7 diff inputs can be a PITA.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

That I need about <--> that much more space in my entertainment center to get the side loading DVD out.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

Not being able to turn to a specific OTA channel, then adjust my antenna for best picture.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

At $599, I think so... but that will depend on longevity. It replaced a 27" Sony I paid $500 for 10 years ago... that's still going strong. If this one makes it 5+ years, then it's worth it.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

It's freakin' kidprint magnet... what's up with that?

dragging up an ancient post. It died yesterday (sounds like a power supply issue) after 4.5 years.... The Sony tube tv was still going strong as of last week.

Now I've got that sad I gotta spend money, happy I get a new tv feeling.

The good news is that now your $599 will buy a lot more TV - 40 to 46 inches with 1080p resolution.

no kidding. Picked up a 42" Insignia Plasma last year for $399, and relegated the Akai to the bedroom.

I have a VM230XVT 23 Visio Razor. All I get on the picture is a blue screen with 2 wide vertical grey bars just off center of the picture. No sound. When I enter the menu I get a grey box where the menu normally would be so it is trying to send the signal but the LCD screen is only exhibiting the most basic of signal.
I get no change from any setting TV, VCR, USB- etc. The TV has a 12volt power hook up and has a transformer in the plug to get from 110v to the 12vdc. I have been using the TV on my boat and using straight 12v power. My batteries went drained when I left the charger off, could have the low power supply damaged something.
I contacted Visio and it was one week out of warranty so not their problem, sorry about my luck.

What should cause this can I replace the part and how do I trouble shoot?

how little an issue the 60hz TVs actually have with blurring (at least watching football)

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

Awesome deal!

I am looking for a very similar type/price range.

I too was thinking of 60hz to keep the price low. I've seen a few with really good (2-5ms) response times at 60hz...I wonder if that is better than having a 120hz with a slower (12ms) response.

Anyone know?
