Hi. I'm not sure where you got that contrast ratio info from, but it's wrong. The static c/r would be something more like 3000:1 if that and at a very low backlight setting. 5000:1 is only achievable on a very rare display, such as FALD with a VA panel (usually a Sharp U2VA).

It has great sound though because of the DLED backlight and thicker casing.

1. The "Model" you have.
LG 47G2 (new to me)

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

Passive 3D is very good. Price on used market was extremely competitive ($550)

3. What you like best about your LCD.

Passive 3D is excellent for family and guests, access to Google Play Store, 3 USB that can run HDD, USB hub, etc.
Remote is ref, not IR, so no LOS issues.
2d to 3d conversion is good, especially when set to around 14.
The primetime guide is pretty nice since I only have basic cable.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

No ARC, isn't really compatible with anything in the play store, no flash support anymore after update. No analog inputs, without corded mini plug adapters.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
*Flash*
*PVR functionality to external HDD *

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
Taking flash support out was dumb. Not letting me switch inputs without drilling thru menus dumb.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
No analog input jacks, just a mini Jack pigtail solution.
Primetime app is more useful than I thought.
Having to wait 45 seconds to access anything but live/cable TV.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
None really

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
At 550 it is a great buy, but I'd rather have the non-google model if I was paying much more than that, they are just more useful and flexible. Luckily my HTS is also LG and has the LG smart tv apps built in, so I get both versions.
10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
I love the passive 3D, much more comfortable for everyone than active 3D... and my dozen or so pairs of movie glasses from the theatre really fit the bill (and my wallet) better than the LG OEMS.

Sony KDL-48W605B

1. The "Model" you have.
Sony KDL-48W605B

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Bargain price (I think): what corresponds to USD 720
Great review here: http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/kdl40...1404233740.htm
Low power usage: 45 W

3. What you like best about your LCD.
Good picture. Easy menus. Low power usage. Very light

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
No real motion compensation
Virtually non-existent user manual

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
Motion Compensation ("real" Sony Motionflow)

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
Make a user manual somewhere (online, in the TV menus, on paper, whatever), that at least briefly describes the purpose or at least the functions of each menu option

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
No motion compensation. Unlike many others, I hadn't really bothered to look into whether or not the TV has proper motion compensation, so I do not feel cheated that Sony advertises the TV as having motion flow. And I still have about a week to decide if I want to return it for at refund. So I am no angry about this - just surprised that my 6 year old Samsung which I replaced beats the new Sony in this category.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
I have had problems calibrating contrast to fit some test patterns. The picture certainly changes, but it seems like I am not able to hit the target in the two patterns I tried. Both were from an HTPC, which may complicate things, so I may just be doing it wrong.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
For sure. Despite my small complaints here, it is great value for money. I think I paid something like USD 2000 for the old Samsung and the USD 700 Sony clearly beats it in almost every category.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
Not really.

Hi guys! New to the forum!

1. The "Model" you have.
Insignia NS-48D510NA15 48"

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
The OP of the Official owners lounge of this model on this site, the price, and the possibility of this having a Samsung S-PVA panel.

3. What you like best about your LCD.
Image quality

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
Grey banding

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
Nothing extra, quite fine with it, was looking for a simple TV with a good panel for use with gaming consoles, and possibly an HTPC, but looks like my PS3 will do just fine playing videos from my ReadyNAS NV+.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
Make the back of the panel out of sturdier materials or thicker plastic. It isn't horrible, but feels a bit flimsy when tapping on the back of the display casing compared to a Vizio at work.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
The image quality and size once placed in my apartment. Plenty big, but I was surprised with the image quality once I played with the settings a bit using my PS3 as the source (RGB limited mode).
Playing Bayonetta on my display was a great experience with NO issues I could make out.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
No problems so far, *knock on wood*, and I usually have the worst of luck with things.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
I paid $399.99 (CDN) + environmental fees + taxes, and it came out to just over $500 with a printer I purchased for my father, on sale as well for $20.
SO YES, a BIG FAT YES, especially for this TV. Great value for what it is, and I honestly think it can rival much more expensive TVs for image quality, not features.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
Plain Jane was what I was looking for and I got it.
I'm incredibly happy with the TV, and kept comparing the image quality to my Nexus 7 (2013) tablet and LG G2 phone. Yes I know, they're mobile devices what the heck are you doing? To me my LG G2's display on full brightness is beautiful and vibrant. I went with the settings provided by the OP of the owners lounge here, and then adjusted to my preferences, brightness at 51, one touch higher and blacks went "lighter" and had a glow, so that was my max. Contrast bumped up to 67 I believe, can't remember exactly, and sharpness turned way down, then it looked great to me.
The reds a bit orangey, but I can play with tint and colour later. The other colours seem pretty good, not over saturated, but not by any means dull.
I am one happy owner. I could've went with a 55" Samsung UN55H6350 for double the money, but I thought I'd save some dough.

Edit: Oh, and cheers, Mike.

1. The "Model" you have.
Sony XBR65X-850B

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Old tv going bad and price drop to $3K with new Blu-Ray player.

3. What you like best about your LCD.
Picture quality and easy setup.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.
The feet are not very sturdy, they are only held on by two small screws each. The camera dosen't fold back unless you unplug the usb.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
Better low end sound, indicator that you are indeed watching either 4K or 4K upscaled.

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
Smoother edge lighting, better speakers for deep sounds.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
That it turns on and switches input after placing in a DVD!

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
There are a couple bright edge light spots when playing letter box DVD video. Lava effect during some solid colors.

9. Do you really think that today's "Prices" are worth it.
Getting better, full aray backlit is still way over priced.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
Overall satisfied, I wish there was a "easy" setup feature for screen setup.

How does the passive 3d experience on this 4k set compare to active 3d on a 1080p set ?

1. The "Model" you have.

Vizio M552i-B2

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

I was looking for the best value within a limited budget.

3. What you like best about your LCD.

Great picture quality for the price!

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

I'd love darker blacks.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.

Gamma control would be nice, 20-point greyscale adjustment, tighter control of the local dimming feature

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD?

Nail down the local dimming feature and the set would be incredible.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.

The panel looks great on the wall. Aesthetically, it looks good.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.

None so far.

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.

Absolutely.

10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.

Very happy with the purchase. Yes, there are things I'd like it to do better, but there's not a set that can beat it for the price I paid!
