Sony KDL 40R450A Best Settings ,

Cinema mode + Cinema Scene select

All Eco settings @ OFF

Backlight @ Max

Brightness @ 57 - 61 or preference depending on program

Color @ 55 -57 to preference depending on program

Hugh /Tint @ G3 to preference depending on program

Contrast (picture ) @ Max

Color Temp @ Neutral

Cine Motion @ Auto

Screen settings

Wide mode @ Full

Auto Wide @ On

4:3 defailt @ Off

Auto Display area @ OFF

Dispay Area @ Full Pixel or +1 depending on source

These settings result in best overall results and best color accuracy
short of a professional measured calibration.

I was able to get a pretty decent HD picture competitive or better than
most similar price. I tried lots of different settings including AVS HD.709
and found the above settings to work best .

The narrow viewing angle is a weaknesses one should consider though .

Hi. I'm not sure where you got that contrast ratio info from, but it's wrong. The static c/r would be something more like 3000:1 if that and at a very low backlight setting. 5000:1 is only achievable on a very rare display, such as FALD with a VA panel (usually a Sharp U2VA).

It has great sound though because of the DLED backlight and thicker casing.

1. The "Model" you have.
LG 47G2 (new to me)

2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.

Passive 3D is very good. Price on used market was extremely competitive ($550)

3. What you like best about your LCD.

Passive 3D is excellent for family and guests, access to Google Play Store, 3 USB that can run HDD, USB hub, etc.
Remote is ref, not IR, so no LOS issues.
2d to 3d conversion is good, especially when set to around 14.
The primetime guide is pretty nice since I only have basic cable.

4. What you don't like about your LCD.

No ARC, isn't really compatible with anything in the play store, no flash support anymore after update. No analog inputs, without corded mini plug adapters.

5. What "Feature(s)" you wish your LCD had.
*Flash*
*PVR functionality to external HDD *

6. What advice or suggestion would you make to the "Manufacturer" about your LCD.
Taking flash support out was dumb. Not letting me switch inputs without drilling thru menus dumb.

7. What was your biggest "Surprise" after you received your LCD.
No analog input jacks, just a mini Jack pigtail solution.
Primetime app is more useful than I thought.
Having to wait 45 seconds to access anything but live/cable TV.

8. What "Problems or Issues" have you had with your LCD.
None really

9. Do you really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
At 550 it is a great buy, but I'd rather have the non-google model if I was paying much more than that, they are just more useful and flexible. Luckily my HTS is also LG and has the LG smart tv apps built in, so I get both versions.
10. Any additional information that you want to add is encouraged.
I love the passive 3D, much more comfortable for everyone than active 3D... and my dozen or so pairs of movie glasses from the theatre really fit the bill (and my wallet) better than the LG OEMS.
