Well, I shopped around quite a bit for an LCD TV and read tons of very positive reviews of this unit on CC's web site (well over 300 as of today), but still wasn't up to paying $599 for it. Kept looking and happened upon a "recertified" unit on Newegg for $499 so I jumped on it. I'd read some of the green tint issues via component, but thought "if it's recertified/refurbished, then if the particular unit did have the issue it's bound to have been fixed."
Just got it today, unpacked it and quickly hooked it up. Recently got a DTV HD DVR in the living room and moved the Tivo DVR to the bedroom (where the 232V is now), and hadn't even noticed the best output avail. is S-video. Crazy to provide optical audio, but no component. Anyway, s-video looked OK, a bit grainy but not completely unexpected, yet on some channels it looks quite good.
I connected a TViX media player to it via component, went into the TViX menu and set it to 16:9 output @ 720p and switched the TV to component source. I immediately saw the TViX menu with a green tint and muttered "f*** me! No way...", then got "No Signal" in about 2 secs. Can't get a picture back up with component. I'll try a DVD player next, but if it has the same issue this sucker is going right back to Newegg - amazingly their standard 1-year refund/exchange policy applies to this TV which is HIGHLY unusual (another reason I went ahead with the purchase). Don't know how a refurb would get through QA twice with a hardware issue unless it just never was returned to the manufacturer. Guess I shoulda paid another $100-200 and got a "better" brand. Sucks as I was totally pumped about this TV and really hoping I'd get a good one be it a refurb. However, with plans to use a DTV box, TViX and DVD player with component & HDMI the green tint is a complete deal-breaker. Speakers are also pretty much junk (much worse than my 8 yr-old 27" Sony CRT) and also have the buzz/hiss when switching sources...not a big deal though. Hoping, with much doubt, that the component isn't jacked up.
Why, unlike many of the other LCD/plasma threads, has no one bothered to post their settings??? I was intending to use a config DVD on mine, but may not get that far. I noticed someone suggested posting settings back on pg 3-4, but no one has. For those of you that do have a good model, pls post your preferred settings.
Anyone want a 232V for $500?
