Does anyone know the difference between these two similiar models of SHARP 52" LCDs ?

Costco sells the LC 60C52U and the LC 52D62U is widely talked about on the web. The Costco Model does not show up on a web search.

I saw the 52 at costco today. The specs are the same for either. the costco model doesn't have the wavy-looking speaker enclosure at the bottom. The speaker panel is black, rectangulal shape and lays completely flat across the tv from left to right. I didnt check inputs for differences as i couldnt see the rear of the panel on display. (the price was no big deal at all, either.)

I'm interested in learning more about it too..
Here's some facts on the Costco site..
it's in the same price range as the AQUOS 52"
2 HDMI
2 Component
1 SVid
3 Composite (who needs that many?)
4 Audio

Anyone got some feedback on it's quality?
Is this an older model?

Yes, I would like to know about the differences also. Comparing prices of the Sharp to the Sony models XBR2 and XBR3, is the additional cost worth it with the technology changing so much?

Why is it that Costco has their own model numbers for specific TV's?

According to Mike53 a Sharp USA employee who was banned from posting anymore by his employer, Costco normally will have the same TV that is sold in all the other stores. The model number is changed and maybe some of the features/bezel design. Other than that it is the same set.

Makes sense since Costco is such a large retailer and has such a good return policy. They want to make sure that what comes back in 6 months is something that they sold.

Thats what I figured..thanks for the info! Although I am surprised that Sharp would go through the trouble of making a model slightly different just for Costco.

Spoke with the COSTCO Rep today and he said that they have their own model numbers also so that they do not have to price match to another retailer. He also said that it may be shipped from a different warehouse also.

Thanks for the information!

I was about to start this thread (same questions) when"search" turned it up.

As previously mentioned, the Costco LC-60C52U specs are the same as the LC-52D62U.
The case, stand and speakers seem to match the D90U series,
which was curious as that line jumped from 37" all the way to 57".
See here

I suspect some sort of hybred to use up parts?

I'll probably try one out as the 46" Sony is no longer on the web site.
And people say it has "cloud" problems.

By the way - another thread had a post stating that Costco is changing its return policy on TVs in Feb. of 2007 due to costly returns.
Anyone know if this is just a UFR (Unidentified Flying Rumor) or is there something to it?

These two models are both listed on the sharp website. On their site the 60C52U consumes more power (302w) than the 52D52U (270w). Funny, because the costco site indicates that it's 60C52U model consumes the lower value.

BTW the costco coupon book has a $300 coupon for the 60C52U from Feb 19-25. There's a $200 costco.com 'instant' coupon thru Feb 4.

I have been looking at the SONY Bravia XBR2 46" ... worried about clouds ... saw the 52" Aquos in Circuit City next to the SONY an it gives it a run for the money ... still looking ... best of luck ... let us know how the 40V2500 works out.

Does anyone have one of these Sharp 52D62U models? If so can you post your comments on what you think of it and how it looks etc.. I'm in the market for buying a new TV which supports 1080p and it seems bigger size Plasma's don't always have true 1080P.

Any info would be much apperciated.

I have the 52D62U and really like it! I did see a small bit of banding at first and tweaked the settings on the TV. It has a great picture and very impressive black and viewing angle. Now that I have the adjustments made it looks a good as my friends Pioneer Plasma!

You should look at all their bad reviews on Pricegrabber.com

http://www.pricegrabber.com/rating_g...094/m=21287451

I don't know why AVS continues to allow TV Authority to advertise at the top of this site and continue to be a paid sponsor with this type of posted feedback.

Can this many people be wrong? Read the reviews before you get involved with them.

Now compare them to a sponsor like MonoPrice who suffered through a rough period of defective HDMI switches 6 months ago and yet the owner, Sean leaned over backwards to make things right for any of us who did business with Monoprice.

I have the 52D62U and it is a great TV. If I go to the service menu and put up a completely gray screen I can see some banding in both the verticle and horizontal, but on regular TV and movies, it is very hard to see and has not bothered me.

I would like to have the time to watch the set more, but since I got it I have spent about half my time on the road and out of the country. I am dying to watch the whole season of Battlestare Galactica that I have missed while gone (I am currently in Helsinki). BTW the set is excellent on SD signals, best that I have seen so far.

I have seen the Costco model and it looks like mine but with a different speaker. Basically the change is cosmetic only around the speaker as far as I can see.

Picked this unit up last night at Costco.. beautiful picture except..

there's a foot wide by 5 inch smear, as if a damp cloth was swept across the center. Everything is a few shades darker in the area.

It's going back.. too bad it was the store's last one

Does anyone owns a sharp lc-60c52u.
I often heard a clicking noise when I turn the power off
and something while watching, I heard a loud pop noise.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
