Also I very much doubt I will be returning the set after seeing the 747i owners thread. Its a nice TV and all but at 120 lbs and the boxy frame with those giant speakers...just doesnt compare to the 66. Even the owners themselves talk about "making sacrafices" to get those 747i's: no HDMI 1.3, mediocre blacks, massive weight and prices that arent so cheap anymore for better SD and dual tuners with PIP options galore.

I'm in the same boat except HDMI: as these Sammies still come with a standard 24-bit panels - the same as, for that matter, every other mass-market TV will sport for many years to come - that HDMI v1.3 is completely meaningless so you might wanna take it off from your list...
I'm not worried about weight nor should anyone who had CRT before IMO and price is the same as Samsung (Why would be something cheaper with a state-of-the-art VP onboard?).

Black level and SD - those are my questions but I have yet to see these sets and the 747i is nowhere to be found in NYC...

I have decided to buy the samsung LNT4061F after reading for a few weeks on this forum, but now the question is where to buy the tv? Does anyone have experience with Amazon and LCDs? One reason I'm leaning towards them is because they will adjust the price if it goes down within 30 days of purchase. Although I've never purchased a television online before and was wondering if it's better to go to a store in case we need to return it.

Also, just to be sure, the picture on amazon and samsungs websites of the T4061F shows a power button in the bottom middle (like last year's S versions), but the T4065F doesn't have the big round power button on the bottom middle, is this just the wrong picture or do these two sets have the power buttons in different locations?

I believe if you buy the 4061F from amazon, you will have to either purchase through Vanns or J&R. May want to give those sites a quick check.

I'm probably in a pretty good position to answer this question. I bought the Sony V2500 one week ago today. Brought it home, plugged it in, and there were the clouds -- no mistaking them. Could see them clearly in the opening crawls of the Star Wars DVDs. Fortunately for me, that was just about the time word was getting out about these Samsungs. So on Friday I returned the V2500 to CC and placed an order for an LN-T4661F (six were en route to the store). It arrived the next day, I plugged it in, and can tell you that there is not a cloud, band, egg, smudge, smear, or scratch to be seen. The backlight is perfectly uniform -- the Star Wars opening crawl looks great.

I am also a Sony refugee. I purchased a Sony 46V25L1 from Costco in January and noticed the clouds immediately. I tried tweaking the set for 2 months to minimize the clouds. I finally got tired of dealing with it and returned the set last week. I picked up a Samsung 4661 from Vanns and have had ZERO problems. No clouds, no bands, etc. Just a perfect picture. As much as I loved the look of the Sony, I have NO regrets in making the switch!

I know there is no price talk, but I have a general question. I'm from Canada (and from what I can tell) these sets aren't available yet. Could someone tell me if the T5265F is more in line in terms of price with the Sharp D62U or Sharp D92U series?

Don't want to get my hopes up if I can't afford it.

From my experience, I am debating between the 2 myself, the samsung 65 and $3xx cheaper than the Sharp d92, 46" or 52".

61 series has power button on front middle bottom and control buttons on right side.
65 series has all buttons on top side.
66 series has all touch-sensitive buttons on front right lower edge running vertically down.

Hi everyone... I purchased a LN-T4066F a few days ago, and am loving it so far, aside from getting it tweaked as good as I can (still debating on whether I should get it ISF calibrated...)

I currently am running it with a Panasonic DVD-S53K upconverting player I bought at the same time, and I'm very happy so far, bought the TV mainly for Xbox 360 use.

I do, however, have a rather embarrassing question, and I'm especially afraid to ask it on here because I almost went insane from researching different TV models on AVSforum because of how scrutinizing and picky some of you are...

...a few minutes ago I was vaccuuming behind my TV stand, with the hose attachment, and I pulled too far and the vaccuum tipped over and the handle smacked into the LCD screen.

There was no visible mark aside from a superficial streak that wiped away when I touched it. No dead pixels or anything of that sort, the TV appears to be absolutely fine.

My question is, is there like a plastic cover that protects the TV in cases like this, and if there appears to be no damage whatsoever, should I just forget it happened, or should I return it while my 30 day period is still in effect, just in case it causes problems down the road?

I mean there is NO visible damage, I am just really paranoid right about now! I'm such an ass, argh

I bought mine from Best Buy (not where I wanted to, long story) and both they and Circuit City do price matching too. I'm not saying there aren't better retailers but these two and others I were looking at all offer price matching within 30 days.

Onsale and Macmall look too similar; they look linked. macmall has a bad reputation on resellerratings. Onsale has a better rating, but again they look the same to me. TechDepot also has great prices listed. But none of these stores with the discounted prices have them in stock.

I've waited this long to buy a set, i'm going to wait a little longer for the set to show up in more stores and see how these prices hold up. Ideally, find a local store who will bargain. I'm looking at the 5265. Lowest online I've seen is a good 8xx lower than BB. If I can find someone local to sell the set at 4xx off than I'm a buyer.

Yea I havnt gotten to trying a new box yet because my brother (his HD DVR) is scared that he will lose all his saved shows when I disconnect it from the power and cables. I tried to explain its a HD like a PC but hes still worried. Im going to phsyicaly have to show him using my box that it wont happen before he lends it to me.

Hmmm if the speakers can be removed...a main factor was that it made the whole set too tall for my location~

You make the same points I was trying to convince myself with to buy the 747i. Belive it or not...I actually never owned a CRT. My first "TV" was a 14 inch LCD with my first pc many a year ago. Bout the pricing, the reason I braught it up, was that anybody I talk to when I say Olevia they go "oh..." You being in NYC should know what Im talking about, go to any BB, CC, or PC Richard and ask them about Olevia: "We dont carry bargain brands" or "We only carry quality TVs" or my favorite "Go to Target"

So it seems that the difference between the 65f and the 66f sets is the speaker locations. I am looking at getting a new bedroom tv and was thinking of maybe getting a 4065f or a 4066f. Has anyone compared the sound output from these two models to determine which one of these models has the better overall sound?

Format Neutral. Living in HD bliss with the A1, A30and PS3.

QUESTION:

For those using xbox360 vga cables..... I have a 4066f, just purchased the vga cables and have my xbox outputting 1920x1080 for games. I put in a movie to see what happens and when pressing the info button on the remote, the resolution say 1920x1080p at 60hz. Is the xbox upconverting my movies to 1080p and displaying them natively on the tv. I ask cause when I watch movies before through components, the tv will switch to 720x480p automatically. Anyone have an answer? New to the vga cables so not really sure how they function..

Not sure where to start here, but i'm in the dilema
Few weeks ago i desided to purchase 52'' XBR2
Then someone mentioned about flashlight and cloud issue on those sets and i found thread here in AVS
After following that thread for a while i was torn whether i should go with Sony
A few days ago i found this thread and was reading through almost to the last posts
Here i am, now desiding between Sony and Sammy, tough
Went to BB today to look at Sammy 4665F
Fortunatelly it was right next to XBR2
The PQ is really really nice
Almost everything about this TV is better than XBR2, colors, blacks, brightness, contrast, details, etc
But what cought my eye is the glare from it
Some ppl here mentioned about it and i wanted to see it myself
If you compare plasma and any LCD, this TV would be closer to plasma in terms of reflection
It is not as bad as plasma, but not even close to lets say XBR2
Yes, i did compare TVs with ON and OFF switch

I will probably pull the trigger on Sammy. This set is just awsome. Blacks are as good as on plasma imho, much brighter than anything i've seen, PQ is the best i've seen on LCDs, or the best period.
I guess i'll live with glare, since it's not too bad and it won't be much of a problem with my current room setup

Well, this is my $0.02
Hopefully it brings some clarifications to fellow members

Whether it's better to have the DVD player perform the deinterlacing or the TV, really depends upon the chip and algorithms in use in each device, but I think it's safe to say that as a normal rule that the deinterlacing in the player will be superior over the deinterlacing capabilities of the TV. (Except maybe the Westy with the HQV processor...)

1) Do we have a consensus here that a DVD upconverting player via HDMI cable is the way to go short of HD-DVD or game console? And thanks to all! Almost bought an XBR2 knowing of the clouding/quality issues until by chance I bumped into the new Samsung series......2) Any comments on Smsung customer serv/warranty service
