Perhaps the 1024 firmware given to WilliamG was a Beta version and not final. Who knows as it seems every samsung tech has a different story.

Which is 99% of my use on this 4665f. Not a single issue with 1022 with 1005 board. PS3, Elite 360, and PC. I watch american chopper and a few sporting events and the rest of the time is gaming/pc use.

1. While playing the Halo 3 Beta I had some kind of dropout, where the TV showed white static and then it went back to the Halo 3 screen again and it kept doing this constantly until I turned the TV off and on again.

2. Every time I turn my 360 off and turned it on again the screen ratio changed to the point that I cannot read part of the dashboard blades, I had to change the ratio in the TV menu to fixed it.

My TV is a 4061 with the 1009 Feb16 firmware and 1004 hardware. I have everything connected via HDMI with port savers and running the HDMI through an Onkyo receiver and haven't got any pink or green flashes yet with the PS3, 360 and Motorola HD STB.

Has anyone experienced any of those 2 problems?

1. Check connections.

2. Sounds like your tv is in shop mode. Does it lose any changes made to the other settings as well? If so, switch to Home mode and it will save all the setting. Its in the manual somewhere, and may be in first post of this thread as well.

So I take it you used WilliamG's 4661 1024 upgrade on your 4665... Or did a field tech upgrade you (both board and FW?)

If so then it's the combo of a new board 1005+ and 1024.. Remember I have 4665 1022 and 1005 with mad flickerz... My 1022 may be the culprit since I already have 1005 installed.

Not BETA, as any Samsung technician has access to it. I didn't get it directly from Samsung. Samsung just authorized the technicians to use it. It came from the tech-access-only firmware page. End users don't generally get BETA firmwares.

Anyway, perhaps 1024 + 1005 is the key. Perhaps not. I would know within 30 minutes if I had a 1005 board. My 360 Elite on HDMI2 flashes and drops so often it's a joke.

I changed my TV to Home Mode when I first setup the TV the weird thing is that I can only get the correct aspect ratio via the menu only, the Psize button on the remote doesn't correct the problem.

That I do not know, as I've never had to return anything to them. Might want to give them a call and see.

I REALLY wouldn't worry about it: Amazon goes far and beyond their stated policies. For example, they'll usually price match far beyond the 30-day limit. Heck, they just gave me $4 back on a CD I bought in December! (I fully expect when the 4661 goes down in price, they'll refund the difference as well.) In most cases, Amazon's customer service is simply phenomenal. They're the last store you should be worrying about.

But many of us want the assurance that if we just do not want the TV or other item, say if we hear of something better, we may return it. Yea, careful reading seems to imply that Amazon will take things back if in new condition although opened within 30 days. But the wording seems to have changed from when I purchased a few months back to allow for restocking fees on all opened returns. There is not a statement that says that they will accept opened but in new condition returns without penalty. I thought they stated that a few months back, but not sure.

Anyway, I did get email confirmation on returns before ordering the TV a few months ago, and would encourage others to do the same as Transcend recounted previous.

Hey guys,

no offense, but arent you guys too sensitive at viewing a LCD TV? mine is 4665F, and after 2 month of usage, my set has absolute no problems at all. but after reading all through this thread i found out some owners experienced some problems such as hdmi etc, but to be honest, my set is perfect, and im not as picky as some owners are.

nothing is perfect, couldnt you make yourself life easier?..~

I'm glad your set is *perfect,* but remember that one man's perfect is another man's err.... poison. Yeah. That was the line, I'm sure of it.

When playing my XBOX 360 Elite, I probably get between five and eight flashes of pink per hour on my 4661. Is that acceptable to you?

Don't forget: Everyone has different equipment and different issues.

also its been since wed this week i had my new 1008 board installed and so far so good ,,,it was never an extensive problem mostly green/pink flashes 3-4 times a day and occassionally had to restart TV , once every 3-4 days but since new board OK ,,, but i am just using for HDTV for now , no game stuff

No, I just had a brain fart and typed the wrong number. lol.....its a 1022 with 1005. It came from bestbuy that way. I d/led the 1024 but havent used it as am a firm believer that if it isnt broke, dont fix it. If I ever start having problems, I will surely flash the firmware, but I am lucky so far.

yeah, some have had to do it again though....if that doesnt fix things, I would exchange for a new set as you are the only one to have that issue with a 360. My Elite is well...errr...ELITE when using my 4665 with it. hehe

Actually, "no offense", but it's guys like you that are part of the problem. You have a "perfect" set, right? So it isn't fair when others pay the same price but don't get a "perfect" set. If no one said they didn't have any problems, no one would feel cheated, right?

I had my 5265F mainboard swapped on Wednesday and i'm now on 1022+1005 and so far no pink flashes in about 3 hours of use.

I previously had 1024 and 1004 on a 5265F with tons of pink flashes (at least once every hour and usually more like 10 times an hour).

Most of us with good sets aren't trying to downgrade those with bad sets. If you do happen to get a bad set, post your problem if you don't know what your dealing with yet, and ask for advice. If for some reason you cant get it resolved and decide to send it back, then thats cool, no one here is profiting off your sale anyway so do what you have to. But the problem is that most of the times these message boards are overflowed with users posting because they did get a bad set, then they make outrageous claims about all the tv's being awful, which is complete BS. We are all here to help each other, if the sets not for you, thats fine. People like me, and a few others, are trying to let those of you who have yet to buy one, or are looking to exchange the one you have, that there are "perfect" sets out there. Obviously, nothing is "perfect" i dont care what tv you own, its not "pefect." Just stop posting trash like, "i got a bad unit, samsung sucks" blah blah blah. You need to remember people here are more motivated to post, esp if they got a bad unit, so if you think that all you are seeing is bad reports about the tv, search elsewhere, check out cnet and other reviews, these sets beat every other lcd out RIGHT NOW. If you want to wait around your whole life for the perfect set, then do it, but leave us in here alone then.

Hey everyone,

Have the 4665 with the 8300HD box. I get the occasional green flash once in a while and had the dropouts twice.

1016
1004

I have another question. When switching from HD source to SD source tv makes a sound like when you lose the signal and the screen shows the snowscreen for a second, then I see the picture. I don't know if that made much sense.

The STB has 1080, 720, and 480p as the outputs.

Is this something I should worry about?

Also, if I only have 1080 output on the STB then the SD channels get stretched. The way I have it now is HD 16:9 and SD is 4:3.

firmware 1022 or 1024 and 1005 or higher hardware? How can I make sure while I am at J&R that this is the correct software and hardware before purchasing? Will it be listed on the box?
Is it worth it at this point? I plan to use it with my PS3 through HDMI and well as HD-DVR 8300HD all running through an ONKYO receiver.

Is it worth it at this point? I plan to use it with my PS3 through HDMI and well as HD-DVR 8300HD all running through an ONKYO receiver.

Thanks

I don't think there's a concrete way to tell when your set was manufactured. Chances are if it was manufactured in April or May that it will have a 1005 hardware revision. However, since at least two people have said that 1005 doesn't fix their issues, I wouldn't count on this being the fix quite yet.

Is it worth it at this point? There's no question these sets are great. But they have their issues. I can say my PS3 isn't as bad as my 360 Elite, - maybe 1 flash every viewing session, so if you can live with that, and the occasional picture drop, I'd go for it. Samsung have got to fix this completely at some point, and I see it happening sooner rather than later. And if you go by what some people are saying, it's already happened (1005 or 1008 mainboards).
