HD- I believe it because the default color space for game mode is warm2 which is far too warm, whites were a rich cream color on my 46". I just set it to neutral and bumped the color up a few stops and all was good again.

New AVSForum member, picked up a 46" XBR4 yesterday at the Sony Style store in Tigard Oregon and am absolutely loving it so far. Combining my company's corporate discount and Sony Style's gift card kick-in I walked out with about the same deal as a certain box store "fixed" theirs from. If you work for any large corporation you might want to look into it. I got really professional, knowledgeable help from the SonyStyle staff. I walked in expecting to leave with a 46W3000, But seeing motion flow on their 1080i directTv feed made me a believer.

Will this set accept 1080p via component?? or only via HDMI.

The 52''XBR2/3 accepted 1080p over component only, do all these new XBR4/5 do the same?? or is it limited to the 52'' models and above only??

another question to current owners of the new XBR4/5 using a Harmony remote, does the remote offer a direct PC input button??

I agree, however I question the need for people to use gaming mode. Do you find that the regular response time for the set with all the bells and whistles on is too slow? I'm not setting that during my gaming so far. I'm very impressed and have a feeling people are using if only because it says "gaming mode".

Good choice, I saw the 46W3000 at Tweeter and the sale person told me it had 120Hz even after I had him look it up. I wanted to laugh at him but was like I'll think about it. lol Needless to say it's a nice set. When you get a chance to get it in the dark for a move let me know who if you see any mura "clouding" screen uniformity issues.

I'll try my computer out tonight. I don't think it is. I'm running a Geforce 6800GT and it doesn't have HDCP. However if you want to watch HD DVD or Blu-ray videos in full resolution in Vista you need HDCP

What is everyones' opinion on the 40 inch XBR5. Someone told me that 1080p is barely noticeable on a 40 inch. If I can get $800, would you suggest I upgrade to the 46 inch XBR5?

Are you sure this is correct? I'm almost positive that all 1080p TVs only accept 1080p via HDMI.

Not that it would really matter much, as I don't believe any sources output 1080p over component.

I get a corporate discount with SONY, but I would prefer to order from one of the chains like BB or CC, get the extended service contract, and have the extra added insurance of being able to deal with a local retailer in case any of these problems should occur.

Lot's of people here are liking thier sets at the moment. Too bad you were not here yesterday to get the CC goof which made the 46 and 40 almost the same price. Is 6 inches worth an extra 800 dollars? No! Not in my opinion. Would a 46 look better than a 40? Of course. Are you going to notice 1080p on a 40 or even a 46? Probably not but it is always better to have the native resolution of what you are feeding your tv so just matters how big your wallet is and how big your viewing distance is going to be..

Erase your response it is wrong. Sharps, samsungs, they get 1080p over components and vga. 360 outputs 1080p over components for games and over the vga as well. So you are not almost positive. Some tv's do 5% overscan on components that is why people choose to use HDMI

If you have a viewing distance of 8-10 feet you will notice the 1080P on some things. You however will notice the 120hz more often.

If you have a viewing distance of 8-10 feet you may find the 46 inch size somewhat annoying as you have to shift your eyes too often to watch....like being in the front row of the TV.

so it very much depends....as with just about everything.

Yeah, my viewing distance is about 8-10 feet, but that is only or this year. I am moving out of my apartment into a bigger one.

Haven't had a chance to really set it up yet but the HD picture is awesome. SD is not so good (of couse, it's all relative). Hope to have the set on for a few hours tonight/tomorrow to see if there's any clouding issues going on.

read the AAA coupon closer, it states not valid for XBR's
works on the V's and W's tho!
