dear all

i'm looking to buy an extended in-home warranty for my Aquos
so far i have narrowed it down to Square Trade, Repair Master, GE and Phillips

if anyone can comment on these companies and/or their standards of service, i would REALLY appreciate it. After all, my experience with similar products is restricted to the local BestBuy

thank you !

http://www.sharpusa.com/SharpDirect/...n_Plans_Terms/ appears to indicate that service on TVs larger than 26" is performed 'on-site'

How well to the Sharp USA service plan services compared to Circuity City or Best Buy or Sears?
Any of you experienced the differences?

FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!!

Bought a refurbished 40" SONY from a SONY outlet store. Since it only came with a 90day warranty, I considered the extended warranty. They had a 5-year SONY in home warranty for $189 and a 2-year in home from SONY for $50. Went with the 2 year deal since I am out in the sticks with the service guy one hour away. Went around and around with sales guy on 5 year plan. When it became apparent I was not going to budge, the manager offered to lower the price of the TV by $139 and include the 5-year plan so that there was no change in price I paid. Finally I said "sure".

Now where do you think the the $189 went?????? Manager's pocket???? Do you think SONY is worried about the 5-year coverage??? I don't think so!!!

Does make you think about the value of an extended warranty!!!

So after a lot of research for a couple of months, I've decided on getting the LC42D64U. I got a pretty sweet deal on Sears, after fighting with them for a couple of weeks, for a deal they didn't honored (God their customer service sucks big time). But that's a whole different story.

Does Sharp offer extended warranty for this TV(How much?), and if so, do you think it would be better to go with the Sharp one, or the Sear's one?

hope the fight was worth it !
can't go wrong with either as long as its an in-house plan
just remember to watch out for any exclusions that may be hidden in the small print
