Wrong thread, this is about upcoming Sony models, not the 2007 models, W and XBR4.

The answer though, is that the XBR4 has 120 hz, and the floating glass design, those are the main differences.

Hard to say then, whether the W4100 will be an XBR4 in disguise, or a W3000 w/ 120 hz. Or a new panel. I'm personally waiting for release before deciding on a TV (Z4100, Samsung 650T etc).

Will the Z- series be the same or better?

It is seeming more like the W- and Z- are only different cosmetically and financially.

Built a new home, now filling it with sights and sounds!

Costco has started selling 52" W4100 series of LCD. As alwasy the the models sold in Costco have different name but same specs. KDL-52WL35135 has same specs as KDL-52W4100

Its not the same tv, the w4100 looks nothing like the KDL-52WL35135 and we really don't know all of the official specs like respose time for the w4100.

Expect the 2008 W's to be the XBR4 with another years worth of bugs worked out of them.

shouldnt you compare the z's to the xbr4/5s for the time being. Is the Wseries a lower end model.

The 2008 W is 120Hz.

Thanks,

Those numbers look impressive. I'm still skeptical about whether they will be better than the XBRs though.

i think i'm getting the 2008 V52. circuit city should have it in no later than 5-1-08. i'm guessing price will be $2,699 when on sale.

i hope the new chassis (hole in the bottom) grows on me.

any thoughts on all of this?

Speculation: the W4100 will be superior to current XBR4 minus x.v color capability and large speakers.

Strange how that article is about comparing the 2008 W to the X and they go on and on about bezels and such but they don't even mention that the 2008 W's have Motionflow, unlike the 2007's.

Let's all hope the Bravia Engine 2 does a better job of handling motion than the 2007's.

i'm glad all the new 2008 models have the black bezel. i did not care for the gunmetal/metallic bezel on some of the older models. i think the black bezel provides more contrast and "pops" the picture out and just looks so much better.

What's this "shimmering midnight-blue finish" they're talking about? Not sure I like the sound of that.

The thing I don't liike about the 2007 Sony bezels is the "miters" in the corners. They never seem to fit quite right and look kinda cheap.

Any informed speculation on when the W4100's will be available?

I feel somewhat like a little kid before Christmas... the difference being that I know what will be in the box, I just don't know what day it will arrive!
