Anyone have any recommendations on the best 720p 40-42" HDTV? I have been looking at LG, Sony, Sharp and Samsung. Any comments appreciated.
Thanks

Sony 40S3000

Samsung 4053H or 405H (thru Sam's)

Sony has matte panel .. Samsung has glossy.

Second this.

The Sony looks awesome especially with SD source. OTA 1080i looks excellent as well. The sound is very very good.

Some shortcomings of the Sony... side speakers (more room), control buttons on top (very annoying), no swivel stand (older s2500 model has it), 2 HDMI inputs, 1 coaxial for ANT and Cable.

I haven't seen the Samsung 4053 but had the 4052 (7000:1 Contrast) and the Sony kicks its butt.

46" would be nice but the reason is money. About $1000 from what I can tell. Thnaks for your info. I will keep my eye on pricing. So far it looks like everyone is suggesting Sony. I was leaning towards LG but I think the main reason is the 2 year manufacturers warranty over everyone elses one year. Maybe I am putting too much into the 2 over 1?

The LG is a nice unit.

Be aware that during the warranty period on these (and other) units the manufacturer will simply replace the unit outright if a problem develops.

Once the warranty is over, though, parts will be very expensive (if they are available at all ) and you will likely be forced to purchase a new TV.

The longer warranty of the LG is a definite advantage!

This is the wave of the future. CAVEAT EMPTOR!
