Sharp LC-52D92U automatically recognizes composite video, but not s-video in same input. If there is nothing or s-video only connected to that input port, it is not selectable. However, with composite video, the input is selectable.

Plays HDMI (cable box and Aquos Blu Ray player) as well as composite video just fine. Note that I did NOT connect the included external speakers. I could not find any other threads with this issue.

For both of these inputs, I have tried various cables as well as devices (DVD player, Prismiq media player) but to no avail. I have even tried reseting back to factory settings.

I called Sharp Aquos Advantage in hope of them informing me of some magical hidden setting. All they can offer is to have someone come out and look at TV.

Any thoughts? Am I missing something? I would hate to have to have this sent back for repairs AS I JUST CAN'T LIVE W/OUT MY HD!!!

I LOVE this TV.

I FINALLY got my LC-52D92U working with VGA to DVI. The trick is in the cable. There are apparently 5 types of DVI connectors. Most of the new cables are DVI digital. There is also DVI analog, such as with VGA to DVI. Also, there are combined analog and DVI. So make sure that you the right DVI cable. Note that the interface for the Sharp is DVI-I. See the article here:
