I have read many posts about 9G models to come out, and all the great things about the 8G elite line. Seems to be the expected MSRP of 5020 is going to be in the $3500 range. My question is this. If there are any 110's left on the market when 5020's come out (June), they might be very close in price to each other. What would you buy if this were the case? My reasoning is that the elites are suppposed to come out in late July/early August, right? It would make sense that they will discount any 8G elite's to make room for new 9G's. So, if the 5020 has deeper blacks but similar color reproduction as the 5010, is it a better deal than a elite 110 with not as great blacks, but more accurate color? I am looking at this from a PQ point of view. I know this may be hypothetical at best if the 110's are going as fast as everyone says they are.

You may want to look at page 18 of this thread regarding 5020 MSRP estimates:

(scroll down, not the top post on p18... and then a couple pages beyond)

The question is whether or not there will be any PRO-110FDs left.

I will bet that there will not be any left. They are already getting almost as bad as the 150's

I agree I suspect that there is going to be a gap between when the 8Gs are gone and the 9Gs come out. I don't think you'll be able to find a 110 on clearance price when the 9gs are released.

If you are on the fence, I recommend waiting a few months and get a 5020 when they come out. Why spend $$$$ for last year's technology?

Better black levels > possibly better color accuracy.

Just a tip in case you don't know ... if you want to link to a specific post, open up a page with that post on it and click on the "link" link in the upper right of that specific post. Then you can copy and paste the URL from the "Address" bar of your web browser into the new message (using the "Insert Link" option of course).

I just figured out how to do this this week after a couple of years of perusing this forum.

Thanks a lot. Yup, I know. In that case I wanted to show him the whole page and not single out the specific post. Thanks though.

Last year the 5010's were 80% blacker, this years 5020, again 80% blacker. The ELites have the same glass, the same processor, the same picture. 4 differences: Elite on the front, 2 year warranty, No option ISF Calibration and a higher price. The calibration feature is used predominantly by high end gamers.
