$3000 is likely to be your price floor for any panel in great condition (and under 10,000 hours).

Controlcal you say? How much are these? If I wasnt dead set on getting a 60" display I would probably consider the ELITE transformation. Care to give me some more info as to what this entails or what the result is?

I've had buicks for years this one is grey and pretty clean garage kept. It was a designated race car that used to go low tens with all the parts I have for it should have gone high nines. But I took it apart and never put it back together. I just bought a new house and need the money. I live in Roseville but am moving to Macomb Twp to a bigger house.

Go to controlcal website and make a donation Turbe will help you through it. The board swap is easy I did it in my 6020 I had before I bought my 141 & it took an hour. If you are keeping your 5020 it's the best $120 you'll spend and will take a little over an hour to do.

I assume you mean $3k for a used 60"...

I'm toying with the idea of selling my PDP5020 and getting something that doesn't heat up the living room as much and is a little bigger... What do you think a fair price would be? It was purchased in March 2009 and I would estimate that it has about 6,000 hours on it...

I haven't seen any come up used lately so I'm not sure what it's worth...

Sorry, just saw your question....$1200? I think 50" has become an inundated size compared to 60".

Hello, I hav a Pioneer Kuro KRP-600m that I hav had since about mid 2009... I was watching a movie whn the tv powered off by itself and now doesn't power On... Whn I try to power it On it trys to switch over and the LED light on the tv goes blue thn turns back to red and flashes every few seconds... I don't know much about the internal hardware of these tv's but I would have to guess the power supply went bad... Is there anyone else out there that has ran into this issue and if so please let Me know what I should do... Thx

Can anyone give me a fair value selling price for a Pioneer Kuro KRP-500m that was purchased in December 2009, has a 3-year Mack Warranty, was calibrated by D-Nice in ISF-Day & Night Modes and in Standard Mode before receiving the TV, and is virtually PERFECT except the 'rare' occurrence of one flashing on and off green little pixel barely noticeable on the lower right corner of the screen?

I bought it as a pixel perfect TV and after 2 years only 1 pixel rarely flashes on certain HDTV programming. Only noticeable from a close up distance. TV has a couple thousand hours on it, but IMHO the picture is better than when i first turned on this TV. Black levels are better definitely now.

But again, considering the description of the TV, what would be a fair price to get for this TV?

Thanks in advance.

A single failing subpixel is within normal spec for all manufacturers, if I'm not mistaken. You should still be able to get away with asking $1400 for it.

Would it be unreasonable to sell my Pioneer Kuro KRP-500m for $2000.00?

I really don't want to sell for an under market price unless I'm compelled to up to a limit, and i'll 100% sell at $2000 and not a penny more.

I bought it for $2600 with the Stand included and like I've stated...3-year Mack warranty expiring December 2012 and is D-Nice calibrated in ISF-Day & Night Modes & in Standard Mode, and I bought it as a Pixel-Perfect TV, which it was when I first bought it.

Black levels are better now than ever. And that small tiny single flashing pixel problem in the lower right of the screen is really not an issue at all, and probably wouldn't be seen at a reasonable distance away (I look at the TV 3-5 feet away in my bedroom so it's probably why i'd notice it more).

And it's a rare event on certain HDTV programming, it has never bothered me at all.

$2000 - fair maximum selling price?

Offer it for $2K, but you may have to negotiate it or change it, to sell it in this economy.

Good luck with $1200. I'm trying to sell my 5020 and haven't had any bites, and I'm selling for $900. 50 inch tv's are cheap, less than $900 and will be hard to sell. Plus not many people in the market have a clue how good a Pioneer tv is or was. May just end up donating to charity along with some bedroom furniture and get a nice tax write off.

RIP Robin Williams. Thanks for the laughter.

Do you think offering it for $1,500 would be giving it away at a bargin bottom floor price?

Yes, the economy is tough and that has to be considered, but I was scrolling up this thread and vinnie97 was suggesting $3,000 as a bottom floor price for a Pioneer Kuro KRP-600m and if that's the market...how much below the 600m bottom floor price should i go (assuming that's the bottom floor price for a 600m).

Is the 600m worth $1,500 more than the 500m? Only difference is the size, everything else is the same.

You are competing with what's available in stores in the $1,500 - $2,000 range unless you run into a Kuro lover.

When new, and if you bought on line, there was a $1,300 difference between the 8G Elite 150 and the non-Elite 6010.

Many of us paid around $2k for our KRP-500's in 2009, and that included a stand. So asking that for a used set might be asking a lot.

But does the fact that these TV aren't manufactured anymore and could be considered collector items raise the value of these TV beyond the current TVs?

Not that I've noticed. They do command more money than other TVs from the same time period.

I don't know if I'd say "collectors" item per say. I guess it could be one, but not that good of one. Can't really appreciate one unless it's on, and in that case you are devaluing it and it can't be improved upon or revitalized. Its a good nostalgic and rare piece though. Also like the person above said, they sold that cheap when they were new. When I bought my 600m I got it for $2,900 and could have had the 500m for $1,600. Once the market dips THAT low if/when it recovers not many will pay that previous top price (especially when the economy is poor). Bottoming out the base price of a product devalues it in the eyes of most consumers. The only way that is gonna keep it's base value is if it's a top tier item. Yes, any KRP is top of the line pq, but the "50 class tvs in general are not top tier anymore in my opinion. That is what's going to hurt you and that is what keeps the 600m demand top dollar still in my opinion.

Not to run on here, but I just remembered something that my help put things into perspective. Even in Dec of 2010 I saw a "50 elite KRP at best buy open box for $2,100. It probably had to have low hours on it cause they had just put it up a couple weeks before I saw it . Couldn't have had more hours than your set probably. And this was an ELITE monitor. The general public just seems to care about 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,:1 contrast ratios and the almighty 3D. Both make me gag. If I wanted to blind myself I'd look at the sun. And every 3D tv experience I have had was horrible. And I've demo'd they supposed "Best". I know different strokes for different folks. Just my opinion. The 3D stuff gives me a headache as well.

I know what you mean. I had to let a 5020 go for $1k in 2010, as I was in a rush at the time. I only took a stab in the dark if time was no object, but thanks for your anecdote.

I paid $1400 for a used 500m- great set, but I wouldn't go any higher than that myself. What ticks me off is watching people try to sell them at $3500, etc.

It's a really good set, but it's not worth $1000 more than when people who bought them new at the time.

BTW, how do you know if the black level will get deeper? If there is a black blob in the middle of the screen that is darker? I can't remember if that was the sign that it would get better.

Wouldn't that put mll below .0004 ft/L?

Yeah, that's what I meant. I know it's not a "KRP", but really if you think about, it is.

And I know it costs more. That was my point. It was selling at a lower price than this guy wants/wanted to sell his 500m for.

Can anybody point me in the direction of a forum on here that would be appropriate for discussing what computer set up to get for a home theater, please? Is the Home Theater section too broad for that?
