check with the forum sponsors like roman at buybestplasma, chris at cleveland plasma, john marty at axxis audio, robert at value electronics, and mountvision.

there is also an ext warranty thread to read up on them.

for a pro111 under $5000 a mack 3 year ext warranty would give you a total of 5 years and cost approx ~$280-300.

for the Pro151 $5000-6500 it would be approx $400-$440

Boy, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a trouble-free unit, because I do like the TV I'm replacing (a 60" Sony SXRD) and can't get another once I sell it.

The difference this year is that more than one person has stated that buzz gets louder from time to time.

I think you and I were in the same boat with our "buzz" concerns. What have you decided- Kuro or no Kuro?

I have a Costco American Express card, which is basically a green card. I just checked the AE website. They say that for this card they will double any manufacturer's warranty, up to one year.

This means that on either the 111 or 151 the warranty would be three years (2 from Pioneer and 1 from AE).

I bought my 151 using my Costco AE so I am going to assume the warranty is now 3 years.

FYI, for anyone interested, the Culver City, Ca Costco still has some 5010's for sale at $2599.. These have the Costco 2 Year warranty on them.

Thanks so much for that info. I used the same card to buy my 151, so it sounds like I've got three years. That actually works pretty well for me, because I'm forever in upgrade mode and few components last more than about three years around here.

Thanks.

Will do. Will post my findings tomorrow.

Thanks, man. One of the guys in the non-elite thread checked his 6020 and it did the same thing. It just seems to be the way they were designed. Be interesting to see if yours is the same way...

What is the source? Some TV programming can have those annoying edge artifacts.

Break-in disk if I understand your question. Focus near the bezel not what's on the screen.

Listen before the trolls appear. I am not making a big deal of this. My 50" has the same thing to a lesser extent. Just wondering if the bezel covers others 151 screen completely. I have tried all modes auto, dot by dot, wide ect.

I can't see it from 3 feet.

From what it looks like, it's the edge of the display area for the panel. The space between that and the bezel looks like micro wiring to the individual pixels.

Oh and for the record, my 151 is like that, too. Just seems to be the design of the 9G's. I think part of that is to reduce the display reflection off the inner edges of the bezel.

Here are some pictures.

Right after delivery. Hard to really see size difference but it is much bigger.

Here in spare bedroom....break-in.

I will post more after the Break-in is complete.

Man, I just got a phone call that my 151 will be in on Sunday instead of Wednesday!

Umm... So what is the general consensus about the 9g Elites in comparison to the 8g?

I know this is kind of dumb of me, and rather lazy, but strolling through 25 pages seems rather daunting

Are there any issues that I should look for?

You've got some time between now and Saturday! Start reading!!

Haha, just kidding. I didn't own the 8g but I researched that a lot before I got my 151 and the difference was appreciable! Blacks and colors are more rich and deep.

If you used a major credit card to purchase the elite. Most double the manufacturers warranty. So that would give you 4 years.

This information is incorrect.

Geordon posted the information below regarding credit card extended manufacturers warranty:

AmEx will double up to 1 additional year. Visa will do the same. MasterCard will double original warranties of 1 year or less. Anything longer will not be extended. In other words, buying your non-Elite or Elite on MC will result in 2 years total warranty. Discover doesn't offer anything. I think that pretty much covers "most" major credit cards.

Sorry for the incorrect information.

So what's the consensus on hooking up the color sensor? If it's totally useless, I won't even bother hooking it up since it looks ugly hanging off the panel.

It will be fairly difficult to install once I hang the panel (provided I don't return it, jury's still out).

I found one dead pixel. It's top right about 10" from the bezel 4" down. Can't see it unless you are about 3' in front of the screen. What should I do? Return it (I have until July 11) or live with it.

What factors are the jury still considering? Are you talking about a replacement unit, or are you still undecided about the Kuro in general?

Someone earlier had a dead pixel that woke up after a day or two. I'd hold out awhile and see.

What about buzz? Does yours have any? I've got mine breaking in in the living room (not the HT), so I haven't bothered attaching the speakers yet. But there's definitely a noticeable electronic buzz.... Whether it would be very noticeable if I were playing any audio is another thing, but I'm hearing it right now from about 8' away in a relatively quiet room.

What is that noise at the right edge of the screen? Is that part of the Break-in disc?

I'm having a problem that is very common on various TVs, so it's not a 151 issue, but with all the possible adjustments, I'm hoping somebody has an idea on how to fix it.

I play Rock Band on the 360 at 1080i (no 1080p) over component cables. I'm playing with the 151 in movie mode (to minimize burn-in chances).

I assume some familiarity with the visual elements of the game which are similar to Guitar Hero. When the notes come down the screen, they and the horizontal lines stutter and shake. The rest of the image is steady. It appears that the downward movement is causing issues.

I've read suggestions elsewhere that it's an interlacing issue or maybe related to 3:2 pulldown. I can believe it's an interlacing issue, but I don't know. I haven't seen an answer anywhere and given the wide variety of settings, I'm not sure where to turn.

Are there settings in the 151 that control motion or other interlacing issues? I went through the manual and everything appears meant for adjusting colors or other irrelevant issues.

TIA

The TV is fantastic otherwise.

Oh, I'm definitely going to have a 151FD, just not sure if it will be THIS 151FD (I've decided I really can't see the problematic pixels from my viewing distance of 8-9', but I know they are there).

I just wanted to know if people were mounting the color sensor or leaving it off (obviously with the intent of never using its functionality).
