I went back to the 548 previously but I see now that it was not correct. Bringing GH to 508 definitely makes the color balance more right looking. Blacks do look truer too. I've concluded that the 548 level is not correct. All the other panels with stated values here are within close range of the 500 mark. 548 makes no sense.

Hey I'm glad you got a bit more brightness without the sensor. The one area of performance that I would improve my Kuro right now is in absolute brightness/ brilliance. As you know the contrast won't go much above 40 - 42 - there really is not much added brightness and dynamics above 42. Going too high results in an ugly chalky-pasty-grainy white that I don't like at all. If only the Kuro could do whites like the Sony XBR 75X940C. I looked at that Sony again the other day and its a knockout picture. On the right material though my Kuro still looks awesome.

Yeah it turns out my GH is fine where it's at. It was the sensor that was F'n up the color.

How much brightness do you need? I find it's too bright for me now with contrast at 40. Kind of looks unnatural. It's as bright as any LCD I've ever seen. I don't get this obsession with brightness. Its nice I have the headroom now but I turned my contrast down to 35. Depending on the movie, 28.

How many hours is on your kuro? Maybe your brightness has diminished.

My panel has 10,100 hours now so this may account for a bit less light output than your panel. On good movies the picture does look very bright with plenty of contrast, but with OTA channels from the inbuilt tuner I could do with a bit more pop when viewing in the daytime with higher ambient light.

A LX5090 is not a KRP 500M (for which i payed 1,000 euro). I also own a LX5090 which i payed 500 euro for. It is a back-up TV for the KRP 500M which is a class above the LX5090..
