No finetuning after is needed!
May not be enough for panels with High RED TINTED Blacks.
Check "Blacklevel test" pattern after in a dark room.
If the RED TINT (RED glowing blacks) is still there perform Advanced
Blacklevel adjustment (reset)

ADVANCED (RESET)
Resets the panel and adjusts various voltages to compensate for aging.
Perform this method ONLY if the panel has High RED TINTED blacks or if
"Standard" method isnt enough.
Fine tuning may be needed on some models.
Note: The TV will Power OFF when the reset is done.
Wait 10 seconds before Power it ON again.

BLACKLEVEL TEST ON
Puts up a fullscreen blackfield pattern for checking blacklevel and for checking red tint.

BLACKLEVEL TEST OFF
Disables the pattern

BLACKLEVEL ADJUSTMENT
Adjust blacklevel UP or DOWN.
Down: Higher contrast with a greater 3d depth in the picture.
Up: Lower contrast with a more flat and washed out looking image.
Note: setting blacklevel to low may affect picture quality on some models.

MISFIRES CHECK ON
Puts up a 100% white field for checking magenta misfires after reset

MISFIRES CHECK OFF
Disables the pattern

CLEAR MISFIRES SLIDER
Clears magenta misfires
Increase one step at a time until the "Misfires Check" pattern is clean.

ABL LOW
Lower the ABL (Automatic Brightness Limiter) for less Dimming and a more correct image.
Note: May increase panel heat and power consumtion depending on what picture mode is used.

ABL DEFAULT
Puts back ABL to its default value
Are these buttons referring to a specific type of software program?

I don't think you are getting abuse at all. I think the language barrier is the biggest problem. The "buttons" explanation is the big question.

Based on my knowledge of the Kuro service menu and the programs I've developed, I think someone developed a program that attempts to automate the voltage tweak process (set rstp to 1, sad to 108) and the reset process (cpm command followed by poff and pon commands) and created shortcuts for various actions including displaying some internal patterns/masks and adjusting sad and rstp independently. With regards to the ABL adjustment, it better adjust it on all drive modes.

I'd rather perform the tweak / reset process manually and have complete control over what I'm doing so that if something goes awry, I can always revert the changes.

Whatever he's trying to tell us, i have zero understanding what's he posted is supposed to mean.

I'm still waiting for someone to find that hidden service menu so the picture management settings can try to get fixed. If what that one member said was true.

This. From member, Bumtious-
Quote:
There was never a problem with voltages, as you are now learning from member inarbi, there are more hidden commands, in fact there are 2 further menu systems that only the factory could get to and THAT'S were the red tint issue lies, screwed up picture management algorithms NOT voltages. Its not that Pioneer would not fix the problem, they couldn't because there was engineering team left to fix it when they pulled out, so they said it was in spec.
He also claimed this
Quote:
We got them in stock first and were the first dealer in the UK to get the 5090, in fact the day after we received them, Pioneer head of servicing visited us to look at the fault I discovered with the drive sequencing resulting in colour oscillation between the where the picture management software that controlled the dark parts of the picture and the light part was misfiring causing the colour to flicker on and off, the only preset that did not show this was the movie preset and the set had to be in drive mode 2 to avoid it. It took 4 months of coming back testing a fix on 4 of our sets as well as theirs. This led to a software fix with a slight side effect which to this day has never reared it head on the internet.
Wonder what side effect it is. If any of this is true.

I remember this I am like you whether this is true or not who knows. You guys know how many new TVs that I received from Pioneer and a couple of them were bad right out of the box. One had red tint right from the get go. And also another problems these TVs exhibited is if you did not watch them for couple days when you powered them on 50% or more of the screen will have a big area of red magenta color that would take a minute or two to go away along with other problems. I can't believe the TV company that made such a great product didn't know about these issues and they're probably was a fix but that would've meant recalling a bunch of TVs or sending quite a few service man out. The problem I found with the three or four servicemen that came to my house most of them didn't know what they were doing they had to call Pioneer to get info on how to repair the TV

I get that magenta color too on start up when the TV is off for a few days.

It is a shame a company like Pioneer weren't more Insightful to these problems. To be fair, the kuro tech was still new and being perfected by them. All these issues would have been fixed by the 10G's. Or even just a firmware update for 9G's. They never got a chance to address any of them unfortunately. Overall though, i have no complaints with the picture these TV's still produce.

saprano I'm not hating on the guys if they sent out to fix the TV but if you're having to call Pioneer because you're not sure of what your next move should be that should be that little bit dangerous. I'll give you a prime example the first kuro I had it had a mild issue they sent a gentleman out to reset the TV will of course we know later on that doing a full reset will cause side effects to your kuro. He wasn't sure on how to do the reset so he had to call Pioneer even after reading the instructions that came with the service remote what ended up happening was magenta colored sparkles shortly after that was done. And that caused this whole problem that I had because as time went on they got worst so that's what started this whole TV exchange deal I went through. My point is if you're going to send somebody out to work on a TV at that time that was still consider very high-end you need to make sure you send somebody out that knows what they're doing. Because in the end you can cause more damage than good nobody would want a mechanic to work on there car if they only knew a little bit on how the car function and trust me I see that all the time seeing that's my chosen field

Yeah you seem to have no luck with all those kuros you've been getting.

I agree Pioneer sending out "service technicians" who have more questions than answers is not very professional for the kind of TV they were selling. I never trust service or repair guys in any field 100%.

Maybe the ''new'' ones were tested and was decided to keep them in storage because there was something wrong with them..

I don't know what problem was but I got four of them one them was broke a 6020 the screen was smashed two had serious problems.one of them was a 151 the other was a 141 the last on 141 the they sent me seem to be the best one.Unfortunately because of financial and personal reasons I had to sell it I had it about four months and seem to be the best of the four they sent me. Who knows what goes on in their long Beach warehouse I'm sure they get moved around banged around like you said there could be problems with them they may have had a problem and were pulled off the assembly line repaired and set aside I find it funny like I said that I've had four used ones with virtually no problems two of them I bought was over 9000 hours on them and the only problem I have is a bad HDMI port

Which is why I prefer to buy a used set over a brand new still in the box one. Not only are they much less expensive, but they are confirmed to be working up until that point and can be tested thoroughly.
