Equipment:
Logitech 880 Remote
Samsung HPT5054 TV

Problem:
Starting sometime today, when using any remote (either the 880 or the factory Samsung remote) the TV doesn't appear to respond to the first (or second) IR commands being sent to it. If I push the volume button, and then push it again and again, eventually it will start responding. But the first signal doesn't seem to get the TV to respond, and that never used to be a problem.

How I noticed:
Using the 880, when turning on any activity involving the TV (read: most), the TV wouldn't turn on. Hitting the help button, it would ask if the TV was turned on, I'd hit no... and it wouldn't turn on, it would prompt again to try and turn it on, and it would respond and turn on.

Possible answers to questions:
I'm running the original firmware that the TV came with.. I don't know what version, and I haven't tried upgrading it yet because this problem never existed prior to today.
I did try upgrading the information on my remote, to no avail.

I have tried using both remotes, and the problem exists at all times. Appears to be related to TV, but I'm no guru and have an open mind here.

Anybody have any ideas why it doesn't seem to read that first command. I've never had this problem before... Thanks in advance for any links, help, or hints.

Are any of the suggestions in the following thread applicable?

That's a new one. The simple test is simply replace the batteries in the TV remote with new ones. If that doesn't work, I'd call Samsung and ask about repairing the remote section of your TV.

Not new. The following message is included in almost all owner's manuals.

"Use of some types of fluorescent lighting may reduce the remote control’s transmission range."

Thanks Tom. I'll take a look at that other thread. I don't think the lighting is the problem, as I don't have any florescent lights in that room.. but I will double check when I get home.
