Unfortunately having a world-class monitor like a Pioneer doesn't free you from the limitations of broadcast television. I have Fios and quite often the feed looks like crap. The NCAA Final Four was pretty disappointing with all of the broadcast garbage that was present.

Roman doubts the 151 stand works for the 600M. As far as I know, you are the first one to try it out on the 600M. Please report back the result. Thanks.

have my 600m setup since 3/10, (did 150 hour breakin). compared to a 111pro i dont think the black levels are as good on the KRP. i did dial in the set with AVE disc. when watching blu-ray movies on the 111pro the letterbox bars cant be seen againest the black bezel (in a dark room). on the 600m they can be seen. on really bright pictures its hard to see bezel. otherwise the 600m is great.

this is concerning to me. can anyone confirm that the 600m black levels are lighter than 111 or 151? how much lighter are we talking about? As light as 8g?

Were these side by side? I haven't had the 600M side by side with anything but I did not notice any black level difference between it and the 6020 that I returned under the same lighting conditions.

I wouldn't worry. The 600M black level IS NOT lighter than the Elite or Signature. Please read the below quote from D-Nice. There are some comments directing to some other member's comment but you should get the general idea.

Quote:

Yes the glass that is in the Signature series is the absolute best that Pioneer created, but it's still Elite glass. Are you now saying that a 101/141FD has a visually better picture compared to a 111/151FD? If you do, please prove that.

All Pioneer displays go through a break-in period at the factory.
  • KRP/xx20/111 Elite/141 Elite = 50 hours
  • Signature series = 100 hours

Sure the Signature series gets additional TLC when it comes to grayscale, but its worthless as the panel STILL needs to be calibrated.

I'm sorry but, unless you need the ISFccc modes, additional HDMI inputs and/or personalized book there is no need to get a Signature Kuro over a KRP monitor.

The black levels on the KRPs from what I understand are right up there with the top of the line Pioneers. In fact, they share very similar traits to the Signature series. I highly doubt that the black levels are less than that of the 111.

I'll stick to what D-Nice has stated and he has first hand knowledge with these.

I am surprised to hear about this 111 comparison, I can only compare between a 7g 1140 (50" elite non-Kuro) and from what I've seen so far, the blacks are way off the charts. I could always tell where the black bars edges were on the 7g, but in a completely dark room I have no idea were the bezel starts on a KRP. None.

I will agree with this on mine as well.

Lets all hope that user "elite-home" will be kind enough to share all his results/findings with us tonight after getting calibrated. That will give us feedback on the 500M as well as the 600M. Hopefully we will see some settings pop up on here

The 151FD's stand will work on the 600M...just like the 111FD's stand will work on the 500M.

I would think the 111 settings would be good enough for gov't work. How much different could KRP possibly be with the same glass, drivers, IC's, firmware, yada yada yada

I've been using pure reset to factory settings and I can't believe the accuracy is has right out of the box. I am not compelled to tweak, well I did at first just for fun, but then I reset back to factory and now I just sit back and enjoy. First time I ever thought the factory settings were good enough for me.

I must apologize that I do not have blu ray, although am tempting to get a 83 from Oppo. I just have Oppo 981 and DirecTV. will let you guys know what I think, when that time has come......

Can anyone please advise on where to purchase either a 500M or 600M? I see they are available at plasma.com and monitoroutlet.com. I am in the Minneapolis MN metro area. Thanks.

I am specifically hoping to see the 600M settings. Do you think the 111 settings would be the same as the 600M settings? Maybe the 141 settings would be close. I had alot of trouble finding 141 settings for pure mode. Everything posted was teh ISF settings instead of pure mode only. Someone did just post some very recently, and they look good, but I am still curious if there will be any differences . I have a problem....I cant ever stop tweaking . First step is admitting the problem right?

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/advertisers.php

Is a good place to start. Give some of those forum sponsors a buzz and see what you can find out. Not all of those on the list carry tvs, but the ones in that list that I think carry tvs are:

BuyBestPlasma.com
Cleveland Plasma
Plasma Concepts
Visual Apex

Also recommended is to make sure that whoever you choose, make sure they are Pioneer authorized. Lastly, you may want to check and see if they are listed on www.resellerratings.com and look for good feedback.

AFAIK Monitoroutlet offered lowest price for 600M.
plasma.com offered almost same price with better shipping style(special shipper), I called them last week but unfortunately they said "600M was out of stock now".

The 600M is going to be scarce from here on out. I posted yesterday about them having allocated inventory on the 600M. I know now that every month Pioneer will shipping shipping only 80 600M units nationwide. That is only going to be a handful per distributor and per authorized rep. Pricing will not change on these units. As for the 500M, there are many available from many different reps. I will keep posting info as I get it.

Hopefully they will solve the packing problem or the 80 units will only result in about 40 happy customers.

Even though I am part of that unfortunate shipping fiasco, I had to chuckle when I read that . Shame on Pioneer!

I tried these Pure mode settings from the 141 article last night (w/Gamma 2). Using Warm as my baseline, I compared them to PBJunior2's color temp settings for *Standard* plugged into Pure mode. My subjective impressions are that the 141 #'s do not look accurate to my eye and I much prefer PBJr2's color temp settings. I think the 141 settings made my image much too green. I also think Color at 8 seemed slightly over-saturated. I've been using between +5 to +7 in Pure.

I'm hoping PBJunior2 posts his new Pure mode settings today along with his impressions and, if he got a chance, measurements of these 141 settings.

Also looking forward to any feedback from D-Nice's 600M calibration tonight!

Jordan - You're right about the too much green. Here's the calman report on those 141FD's settings on my 600M. Thanks to D-Nice for the report layout.

Excellent PBJr, thanks for the report. I notice that this report also shows the errors in the secondaries along the lines of the steps you had to take in your earlier calibrations in the Color Management adjustments. Any theories on that? It seems like many other reports for 141s etc don't have that issue.

I'm looking forward to your Pure-post settings when you have them. Thanks.
