If you haven't noticed it then don't bother. You don't want to get it in your head because you can't get it out.

Yes, there are some areas that aren't uniform so when a lighter color screen pans across them you can see those areas in the picture.

About 7.5 for me. The closer you get the more you'd probably notice it. I probably only noticed it because of my mess with banding on the Sharp LCD sets. I've looked for similar things on every set after that.

So bpmurr, might a 141 be in your future? Go give that puppy a workout and let us know.

Out of my price range. I only paid under three g's for my set.

Better delete the pricing bpmurr (forum rules).

I guess it would be a 101 (50" Sig) in your case if you went with the 111; it's got the select glass like the 141. I don't know how good the current pricing is or how that compares to your 111 purchase. Can you still return the 111 or would you have to take a loss selling it?

I'll probably just get another 52A650 or 55Bx000 set if the price comes down.

All that matters is what makes the user happy, but they would have more flaws I couldn't handle than the DSE of a Kuro.

I seriously doubt that the 101's are free of DSE, I have seen one 141 that had very minimal DSE, but its still going to be there, and if you know what to look for it won't matter you're going to see either way....

LOL the DSE isnt very distracting at all. Eventually u will just get used to it. You risk more chance of more problems by returning the set. Dead Pixels, more buzzing etc..

My 52a630 has arrived with no dead pixels, but has mild banding.
No where near as bad as the splotching on my old Kuro, but noticable on some content.

It looks to be much more tolerable than what the Kuro showed.

What kind of banding are you experiencing. My 52a650 didn't have anything noticeable in content I viewed. Doesn't mean there wasn't any I just didn't see it and I've got an eye for these things.

Upper left corner is obviously darker than the rest of the screen. (with a strait line dividing it from the rest of the screen) Mild lines across the screen. Mostly noticable when I was reading VGcats comics on my PS3 to test for this stuff. It doesn't jump out on normal content, but the dark spot is noticable if I look for it.

I've noticed the corners were a shade darker on some content. Much like my old 46XBR4. However, I haven't seen any horizontal or vertical bands in the display units I've looked at in a few Best Buys and Sears.

I'm actually thinking that it may have been reflections, but I'm not entirely sure. I observed two darker pillars in the center of the screen while playing Mirror's Edge (my favorite DSE test) that were even with the red pause menu but I didn't check if they were caused by reflections or not. (hard to tell at times thanks to the excelent anti glare of this semi-gloss screen) I also spotted tiny lines again, but I couldn't be sure if reflections were the cause of these either....

The upper left blotch was a reflection as I haven't seen it since I moved the TV into another room. (still have to take it home so once it is there, I can do more extensive testing since the room is a lot bigger and the TV won't be on the floor)

I honestly don't find it funny at all, DSE is obvious once you notice it, and it really grates on my nerves at times, a great way to see if your Kuro has it is play the Mirrors Edge game ( or Demo) that will really show you the downfall of DSE. But you some respects your right, if you exchange the set you may get worse DSE, or dead pixels, or buzzing. My set has no dead pixels, and is VERY quite, so I guess you got to take the negative with the positive.

I think what irritates me the most is that if there was no DSE on the Kuro 111, it would have been PERFECT IMO. Its really too bad... :/ I wouldn't try another set as it could be worse then what I have going on, I would recommend others to try another Kuro either, if you don't like I suggest going with something else, but I am sure that TV will have issues too...

I remember I thought I had banding going horizontal in the middle of my 52A650. It turned out it was a slight reflection of the top of the couch. lol

However, I did notice to every so slight dark bands running vertical in the middle. They were pretty wide so they pretty much blended with a screen pan. Not in your face like the bands on the Sharp LCDs.

I feel so lucky. My 151 is flawless. Can't hear it buzz even when it is the only thing on in the house with no content playing. Very quiet. Not a single dead pixel. No DSE that I have ever noticed. I never had any of the blotching other people report that goes away either. My set was 100% completely uniform from the start and has remained that way.

My only gripe is that the tv is so good, that is really shows the flaws in poor sources from certain stations like on the NCAA basketball tournament. My local CBS affiliate gives a poor signal and it shows on the Kuro. Also the shiny black bezel I have never been a fan of. That is pretty much across the board in most Plasma and LCD's though. Whoever thought that was a nice finish for audio or video equipment needs to be backhanded.

Maybe they are DSE free and maybe they aren't. It’s worthwhile for bpmurr to check it out for him/herself to see if that model is acceptable. In the end one has to find the best display that meets their criteria or wait until one is built that they'll be happy with. I'm not convinced that this so called DSE is a universal problem with 9G Kuros or if it is that the Sigs haven't minimized this artifact to a minimal and acceptable level. Let's let the individual buyer decide what's right for them.

As I've mentioned before, my 141 has slight DSE. It's impossible to see on a
static screen, but there's a hint of it on solid white moving stuff (like snow and
I've seen it on hockey games). Other than that, it's difficult. I'm not saying
it's universal, but I have been through 3 Pioneers (2x8g and now the 141) and
it's been on all of them. In my case, the 141's DSE is very minimal but I do admit
the first time I saw it I had a face palm moment. It's nowhere as bad as on my
150, though (thank god).

You must have an extreme case of DSE then. I know my 4280 had it way worse than my 5080 or current 5020 and it was very noticeable especially while I was trying to beat Assassin's Creed .

i went and reran the slides yesterday, I dont think I can see DSE really. Its not streaky like some of those pics are showing. I dunno I dont think I really know what im looking for. I guess ill just leave it alone. Maybe once I get a blu ray and cable connected to my 111 Ill know more. Which should be next week.

I stated this earlier in the thread but the best advice to be would to stop looking for it . If you look hard enough, you are bound to find some DSE. It sounds like you got a set with little if any which is great. In my opinion, light DSE is not that bad. Of course it shouldn't be there at all but I guess you have to decide what you can and can't live with.
