Game mode will probably not make a difference. You said previously that the effect was not noticeable most of the time so I wouldn't worry about it.

[QUOTE Since the V10 will be replacing the PZ850U, i presume it will have the extended Pro Settings menu. Hmmm, now i'm wondering if the 46G15 will have any Pro Settings, that would be nice.[/quote]

Is the 46G15 a soon to be released commercial model??

Well, now that I am returning my Kuro, I'm back on the TV market, so I have narrowed it down to one of these Panasonic sets (50g10) or a Samsung LCD.... (either a 52a630 or a 52a750) Still haven't figured out which way I will go yet. (both have advantages to me and in my enviroment)

I'll have to see the set in person, but with the 58pz800u being almost as cheap as the 50G10, I'd be inclined to pick up the 58pz800u for the extra 8" if I was in the market for a tv right now.

The prices aren't exactly close...some vendors are offering the G10 for as low as $1700, and the lowest 58pz800u by street price is around $2200 shipped. $500 is a HUGE difference at that price point.

And I think the shot he took of the jokers make-up, maybe have had a bit shakey camera work to it. There is no way it is that blurry when paused.

I am pretty much between close to the same sets as you right now, though I am also considering a 61" LED DLP

Thank you very much, StinDaWg.

I'm surprised. The PZ800 looks great too. Both look the same TV (camera blur aside)

I don't consider $500 to be a huge difference at that price point. Going from 50" to 58" is a HUGE difference. 58pz800u is considered the best 58-60" set next to a Kuro. If I'm already going to spend that kind of money I'd rather spend a couple hundred more for a larger size. Feel free to PM me where they are selling a G10 for $1700 shipped because I don't see that anywhere.

Colorwise they look identicle, but shouldn't the g10 have deeper blacks, a brighter image, better motion and use half the electricity. the G10 obviously seems like the clear winner...but ya, those pics are a bit blurry, blacks look great though

I don't see how you can say the blacks are better on the G10. Let's wait for some measurements.

I am pretty sure that the G10 picture of the joker's face close-up with the make-up has to have been the result of some motion of the camera during the time the picture was snapped. It is WAY too blurry, and none of the other pics showed that blurriness at all.

Chris, can you comment on the picture that you posted? Any chance you could retake that one so we could see it again?

Not sure why it matters to you, since you have proclaimed multiple times that LCD > Plasma, and that your Kuro is terrible, plasma is terrible, etc etc etc. Why bother?

I never said the blacks were better on the g10, i said shouldn't they be, since that's what panasonic claims, but ya going by the pics i can't tell. But the blacks look good enough for me, but again they're just pics...Measurements would help

I already have a LCD that's great. I'm not worrying about LCD. I trying to recitify my Plasma situation. I have a Kuro, its a great display, but I'm just not happy with 50 inches. I hope that answers your question.

a brighter image, Should be, but most people don't necessarily want a brighter image in a dim environment. It will be great for selling in the stores though
better motion Probably, but again how noticeable will this actually be?
and use half the electricity If you calibrate both sets the difference in electricity will be minimal if anything

I'll break this down in my opinion. G10 should still be a great set, but if you are buying on these points alone you might be a little disappointed.

It should be fairly soon, because Abt Electronics has the 54S1 and 54G1 up on their website, for preorders now.

They have just added the full series of C1, U1, as well as all the X1, S1, and GI sizes.

The TC-P42U1, 1080P, 30,000 to 1 contrast, should be attractive for those who are looking for a entry level 1080P Plasma at a very low price level. The MSRP price is only $899.00

Yep, I'm well with in my 30 days. I set up my Outlook to send me reminders as I get close to the 30 days that I have to return it. Its a great display, but I think I want something bigger than 50 inches, that's not too big, I think 54 is a nice size.

These G10 pictures are slightly shaken, especially the night shot. Try turn on the camera's antishake

Yeah, thanks for posting the pics StinDaWg.

I also thought there was camera blur at first, but look at his left / our right shoulder. The dots look very clear and possibly even more detailed on the G10. Although I could be wrong, I don't see why only his face would be affected by the blur.

As far as I know, game mode's purpose is exclusively to alleviate a sizable amount of input lag and has nothing to do with phosphor lag (green trails).

Green trailing is a problem inherent to plasma technology at this point. All plasmas with NEO pdp will have this picture artifact, as was establish even prior to the official CES announcement by D-nice and others. All we can hope is that the problem has been minimized.

Is there typically any reason to wait to buy a plasma until after they've ironed out any issues? i.e. Am I part of the "test" group by buying early?

I've been researching for the longest time and was settled first on a an 800U but am now having a tough time locating one from a respectable seller. I also heard the 850Us were subpar to the 800Us (true?).

I then shifted to a Sammie pn50a650 series but after some more research was convinced that Panny builds a much more solid set and that Sammies will never be able to attain the color accuracy and black levels of pannies (true?).

Having waited now until to 2009s are out, I am ready to buy the 46" G10. But what I am hearing now is that the pic is not as good as the 800U. Isn't it possible that calibration on the G10 will make it as good, if not better, than the 800U?
