Got my 500m from quickclicksales yesterday. Arrived in good condition, strapped to a pallet and was tied to the side of the truck.

Manuf. Date on the box said April 2009

R+L carrier delivery guy wanted me to sign without inspection, he was in a huge rush to leave. I wouldnt sign so he finally relnted and helped me open the box and look for cracks. Everything was OK.

The stand unfortunately was a "PM" so it was not glossy. A bit dissappointed by that.

Otherwise took me 18 days to get the TV from the time I hit BUY it Now to my door, I am in LA and it shipped from Edison NJ.

Running the burn in disc right now.....On side a note my wife came in while I was setting up the PS3 and she said "now that is sharp!" (coming from my old Panasonic DLP)

First time poster. I would like to thank everybody for the huge amount of information you've made available regarding this TV.

Ordered from quickclick sales 2 weeks ago and just received the KRP-500 today. Came on a pallet with no dents/dings on the box. Runs great out of the box. All my friends are completely blown away by how it looks. Plan to start running the burn-in slides tomorrow.

Just received my KRP-500m...
No scratches discovered, powered up fine to the "no input" screen. Delivered from Beach Camera in NJ. Not on pallet. Delivery guys helped me power it up. Looks good so far...I am going to do a more detailed inspection tonight.

Received 500M from Beach Camera, Manufacture date November 2008. Damn this tv is old.

I ordered it on Monday and it arrived here in GA today, so it was a quick turnaround. Would recommend them.

I think I may have been told a very plausible reason for so many broken panels. My dealer was at the local FedEx freight station the other day and he saw 6 large flat panel monitors being lifted by a new type of "forklift". This lift clamps onto the sides of the box to pick it up instead of lifting from underneath. In this particular case, he saw 6 boxed panels being lifted at once, in a 3 on 3 stack. I would imagine the amount of pressure needed to clamp the bottom three boxes would have to be pretty high to lift the entire stack. Squeezing a TV box to pick it up certainly sounds like it could easily crack the large glass face on the front of a plasma.

Dang, this thread has me skittish. I was set on buying a 500m, but now I'm thinking that even if it gets here in 1 piece, putting it in my family room with 4 kids running around might be a bad idea. Wouldn't hurt as bad if a lower end panny or sammy gets injured, but I shudder at the thought of an investment like this getting destroyed. How fragile are these things? Are they really much more susceptible to damage than other brands?

I don't beleive that they are any more fragile than any other plasma, it seems to be more a case of some poor choices in handling during shipping and distribution. See my post two up from this one.

It has nothing to do with the display and everything to do with the packaging. Don't worry, they are no more susceptible to damage than any other display. I've had a wide variety of plasmas shipped to me, and every single one was packaged better than the KRPs (including very cheap Samsung and Panasonic models). I got a cracked KRP but in the end, I was 2 for 3 on successful shipments. Just buy from a reliable dealer and inspect the TV before you sign anything and you'll be fine.

The plasma itself definitely is not any more fragile than any other plasma, but the packaging stinks compared to other plasmas.

500M - MO (Philadelphia, PA?) - No Pallet - Box was kind of banged up with some dents - Unit works good, no buzzing, no cracks with flashlight check and running break-in dvd

One question guys. Box says "MFD March 2009" but when I look into the back of the TV at the top right vent, there's another sticker that says "MFD December 2008". Which one is right?

I ordered a 600M for a client from cleveland plasma and it had a small ding on the left side. Tv functioned perfectly and the plastic bevel was not broken, only the metal frame was.

500m arrived this afternoon via DBSchenker, bought from B&H photovideo. Unfortunately I found about 2 cracks in the upper portion of the screen. Didn't even bother trying to plug it and powering it on, as it shouldn't turn on with cracks (right?). Called B&H right away, might get a replacement after the next week, which they have off for some holiday.

My heart stopped beating when my flashlight revealed those cracks, like my nightmare was really happening. This thing has to travel by air from New York to here in Qc Canada, which makes it even more stressfull for me. It's such a shame that a nice piece of equipment like that should go to waste. I'll keep going at this until there is absolutely none left.

As much as it travelled, I actually suspect bad shipping precautions locally from the warehouse in quebec to my appartement, the box was lying horizontally in the truck as if it tipped over, laying on the box of the ts02 stand shipped with it.

I just received a KRP-500m from B&H Photo Video yesterday. It was trucked via ENA Couriers and I was a bit concerned as I live all the way across the country in Washington state. It was delivered to my home via a minivan. The delivery person stuck around long enough for me to inspect the box, inspect the panel with a flashlight, and turn it on to see the no signal sign. Things went great and I'd certainly order it from B&H again. Doing the break-in now...

Escoffier,

B&H has been good to me in the past, so I called them to see if they had any 500's in stock. This was this past Monday. They had one left. Hopefully you'll get a replacement. I'm awaiting shipment of one myself (not from B&H), so hopefully it will go well.

They were the only ones I found willing to ship to Canada, this might be my last chance at getting one in here so yeah, I'm really hoping I get a replacement. I can see the store is closed for the next week which makes me even more anxious. Right after I called on thursday to file for shipping damages I received an e-mail for a new 500m order, so I'm guessing I get at least one more crack (no pun intended) at this.

I feel kind of sorry that wanting one of these in here has resulted in putting another to waste. That is if they can't replace a broken glass screen.

Just ordered a KRP-600M form Monitor Outlet. I called Pilot Air (their shipper) to set up a delivery date and time. When I talked to the rep at Pilot he said the monitor was damaged when THEY got it. WTF? So they sent it back to MO. I called MO and they said they hadn't heard about this yet...? Anyway, MO said they would ship one out tomorrow. Anybody ever heard of their monitor being broken before it even arrives!!!!??? This pisses me off!!! I'm trying to shop around for a PS3 and Blu-Ray's, and now I have anxiety about even getting a Kuro that's not broken before they are EXTINCT from the new retail market!!!! ROBBLE-ROBBLE-ROBBLE!!!!

Beach Camera, no pallet, no damage. I ordered my KRP-500m on a tuesday night and 8 days later it was in my house on wednesday morning. I couldnt believe how fast it got from NJ to san diego and with no cracks to be found. The picture is stunning. I still cant believe how cheap these are now.

Received (and refused) a PIO KRP-600M today via FedEx. When FedEx truck arrived I was waiting. I looked into the back of the large delivery truck to see the 600M lying flat on the deck. Oh-oh, that's not good I said to the driver and he agreed. They had obviously set the screen against the front wall nearest the cab in a horizontal position with no tie downs???. Why they didn't at least put it along a side wall in a length-wise position is beyond belief. The box had a huge dent in the side and when I opened it up the screen had 2 side to side cracks in the glass! Daaamn! The 600M was also shipped on a very skinny pallet which was the same width of the shipping box!!???? It didn't provide any stability at all. And no shrink wrap either, just a couple of straps attaching it to the mini pallet. I don't know why fedex doesn't use tie downs or wall to wall supports inside the delivery trucks!?? Oh-well, Elite-Home is very cool about it and is setting up a new shipment for later this week. I made some suggestions regarding packaging and tie-downs....let's hope AVI takes to heart! The wait is killing me!

Hi All,

It has been a bad day for me and other KRP potential owners

MO Shipped- Rich and Jared have been super to deal with

Feb 2009 Mfg Date

No Pallet despite Pilot promising to put the box on a wooden pallet+Shrink Rap

Large Diagonal Cracks on both Upper left and right side, Did not bother to look more

Will call MO and request another and may have to speak to Pilot Head Bay Area person as the truck arrived 3.5 hours after delivery window with rented Hertz Penske truck that had no tie downs and no auto lift gate. Pilot come on and get your act together

Yes - had a Samsung panel that didn't make it to the house. Amazon sent a note saying it was being returned (never even got it or a delivery call) because it was damaged enroute. Only thing I can think of is a) shipper inspected the panel before scheduling for delivery or b) someone dropped it/tipped over/whatever, they hard a crunch, and sent it back.

Either way, the panel was delivered 'white glove' delivery, so I assume they inspected prior.
