I had no buzz at all, but when I turned on the tv tonight and the cable box didn't come on, I did hear a little buzz, but with the cable box on and watching a show, I don't hear it. What does everyone use to clean the dust off there screen. I know they give you that little blue rag for the frame, but I wasn't sure about the screen, and the last thing I want to do is scratch it. Ive only had the tv for 2 weeks and just from running the sleeve of my sweatshirt around the frame it looks like there is tiny scratches. I guess with that high gloss finish its almost impossible not to get tiny scratches, just like a cars finish.

This is really sad...... Don't return it. I have this set and and absolutely love it. Game mode blows me away and BD are outstanding. This set replaced a Mits DLP 60"
and that set had TWO fans. One stayed on all the time and the other came on when the set was turned on. Had it for five years and never found it to be a bother when watching it. Only when I had to sleep on the couch could I hear the fan.
If you return it for another set you most likely find some other issue that bothers you. There is no perfect TV. There is a ton of things that make this set the best set you could buy. YOU WILL FORGET ABOUT THE BUZZ!
It is not like you have a dead pixel.

Ooh Sorry I did not mean to imply. But now that is funny Hope the next set is as great as mine. Can not figure why some want a 850 over a 650. Looking at my 650 I can not tell how thick it is. All the same features.

Today I noticed the dead pixel on my tv was gone! That figures, since the new one is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow morning. I'll go ahead and take the exchange anyway, just in case that same pixel would stop lighting up again.
Is this common with plasmas?

Hi All:
I just got my 58B650 couple of days ago and just wanted some advice on the pink issue. I started to notice some pink patches (on almost white screen of the BreakIn DVD). Not sure if these were the ones that I should be worried about. I tried taking couple pics but not sure if you can see them. There are couple long vertical patch/areas on the left side and at dead bottom of the screen . When I do the scroll test, the pink at bottom becomes a darker solid right through the scrolling procedure...
The ones one the left side are noticable when you are looking at that area. An idea below here:
| |
| pp
| ppp p
| p pp
| p p
| p p
|
|
|pppppppppppp

I also have the buzz if you go near the tv or definitely at the back. The buzz does not bother me as I have heard it on several other models but the pink may :-)

Should I be worried or am I being over paranoid? Do they go away over time?

OR should I call the local store and arrange for a swap and hope for the best?

Thanks All,
Much appreciated

I too also see the pink bands in your screenshots, so atleast you don't think you are going crazy and just seeing things :P I doubt on normal veiwing you will notice the pink bands. If you do, then swap it. How often do we get solid white screens in your face, except for a few seconds in random movies, and well maybe sin city :P, but that still has motion, don't know if you would even notice it in that.

I am just wondering if they will ever get worse over time? Did anyone else who had pink bars and swapped the unit get any success? I was also thinking of going by couple stores and seeing if their units also have this. Its a big hassle trying to swap and if its not going to make a difference, then why go through it. TV is awesome. No complaints on PQ. Just these Pinks and unless someone mentioned, i wouldn't have picked up on them.

Thanks

How does this set do at altitude? According to the Sears website it's listed as "Altitude not to exceed: 5,249.34 feet" I live at around 6,500 feet. Think that would be a problem?

People, I have a B540 with a 2,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio, the B650 has a contrast ratio of 3,000,000 to 1. Should I take back my B540 and exchange it for a B650? I'm very happy with my B540, got it at Sams for $1900. Thanks

Can someone just tell me if its worth trading up to a 3,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio from a 2,000,000 to 1? Currently I have B540, should I trade up to B650 to get that extra million contrast ratio. Thanks.

What is the difference between color enhancer 2 and color nehancer 3 ? doses 3 mill to 1 constast ratio really matter ove 2mill to 1 ?

If anyone has seen the b860 can u tell me what does it have to make i better than the b650 ?

My B650 will be here on Thurs. to replace my A650. Sears has pretty good customer service to let me swap TV's after nearly 5 mo.!!!

Please don't tell me that the pink is back. Other B650 owners should check on this and report back.

Very interesting - I hadn't seen that anywhere else before. I'm in Denver, so somewhere around 30 feet above that, and my 58B560 buzzes quite a bit. That might be the culprit.

I've got the 58B650. I love it. I do hear the buzz from certain locations, but it is not so bad that I will consider returning it (unless the majority thinks that is the best thing to do) because the replacement don't do the buzz.

Again, I do love this TV picture quality is amazing (I am coming from a 61 inch JVC HD-ILA series.)

I LOVE THE TV. I don't even have 100 hours on it yet. (so you know it's not calibrated), You know the picture is just going to get better and better.

It's nothing short of amazing to me. If I could just get the networking stuff to work. (my main problem though is that I have a mac and the software was written for Windows....) (so if anyone can help with a solution to that, that would be greatly appreciated.)

Later.

Did I say "I love this TV?"

Yeah I've got an extra 1,000 feet on you so I'm a little concerned if you're getting a lot of buzzing. I'm going to try to find one in a store around me and see if I can hear it.

I was supposed have my new 58" delivered today....but it has been damaged in transit. It didn't even make it to my house so the damage must have have been quite obvious. CEVA the delivery company called this AM to tell me.

I was so hoping to end my issues with the A model and enjoy this over the long weekend

Join you all soon when a good unit arrives. DAMNIT

Don't change based on the 3M versus 2M to 1 reported contrast ratio. There is no standard for how companies measure and report contrast ratios and what they report is ridiculously high compared to real world values. When tested using ANSI standard patterns that display black and white at the same time a very good measurement is 700:1. That is what the A650 measured with a 1,000,000:1 specification.

There may be other factors to make you switch but don't look at the reported contrast ratios.

Altitude does not seem to matter. I am at 79 feet above sea level and the first 58B650 I had buzzed and the replacement buzzed. Both buzzed about the same. But it's not bad enough for me to return it. I will get used to it as it's only noticeable once in a while.
Before this I had a DLP. It had 3 fans. I got used to that. My CRT monitor I am sitting in front of right now buzzes. I don't really notice it unless I think about it.
Overall I am very happy with this TV so far. I was just unlucky the first time and had a dead pixel in the first one.

This morning when i fired up my B650 it seemed as if it wasnt as "High Def" as it usualy is, especially on Good Morning America? and it seemed a little funny last night for two and a hlaf men and rules of engagment, which usually have really good high def material. Any idea what this could be?
