Around $5500 for a PRO-151FD is a smoking deal. Nothing from Pioneer's Kuro line is overpriced even AT MSRP, not a one.

You wanna see overpriced ? Go look at some LED LCDs like the Sony XBR8, WAY WAY OVERPRICED!

I simply cannot understand why Pioneer had to stop doing what they do best, LCD fanboys ? I don't know. But I do know one thing, there is no better HDTV than the 9g Elite Kuros PERIOD.

Sony does something Pioneer does not do, they price new released LCDs insanely high and as time goes on they lower the MSRPs.

IMO that is NOT a good or fair way of doing things.

When I used to test for dlp, the higher the resolution the lower yielding they are and more expensive they get. You need to produce more to get your desired numbers. It is probably the same for plasma panels.

Thanks for the insight guys. It does seem like simple supply and demand with regards to what the market will bear. Also, good point about costing more to package and transport a larger panel.

Still, to put it another way, I can get TWO 50 inch 111's for $5,000 and maybe pay the same for the 60 inch 151 if I'm lucky. In other words $5,000 for 100 inches or 60 inches...

Two 50" plasmas does not equal a 100" plasma. One would need four 50" plasmas to equal a 100" plasma. Sq. inches are relevant to this calculation, not diagonal inches.

Panny uses 4 - 50" panels to make their 103". It isn't like an LED. All the pixels must work to operate.

It' interesting as one of the dealer here asking C$8,300 for 141 and C$8,000 for 151.

Seems like a pretty good deal to me.

If you want a BIG TV for a low price, check out LG's 60PC1D.

You OVERPAYED, sorry to break you the news.

If a 60" was only $500 more than the 50", they would probably have to quit making the 50" since no one would buy them.

Proud owner of a Pioneer E-Lite 50" with ISF-Day/Night enabled!!

Obviously, Sony's model works better for them than did the sales model employed by Pioneer or they would not be leaving the field of TV production. I agree with you, Sony LED LCD's are way overpriced.

As an owner of a 60" 9G Elite Kuro, I have to say it is a great TV, better than anything else I own. To say that Pioneer is not overpriced is to deny the obvious, which is that most of the TV buying public had a different opinion.

You are right.

From what I gather Sony is losing money on their flat panels , however they have products in just about every area in the electronics market to help soak up losses .

I read that somewhere online when they were first announced, but you're right, it doesn't make sense.

I've been wrong before.
