When it comes down to stuff such as input lag and what not. Also I could care less about 1080p since most games on xbox have a native resolution of 720p.

Samsung PN42B450
Panasonic TC-P42X1
Panasonic TC-P42C1

If you want a quality panel for gaming than i say scrap those and look into the Panasonic TC-P42S1. I read that some people are very happy with it's performance on gaming. With Plasma you probably won't notice the lag, if any at all.

I am in the same boat as you ghostface, although I am trying to decide only between the 2 Pannys. You're probably not going to get much specific information on the C1. I have struggled to find anything at all, other than 1 or 2 reviews.

To try to help with your question, everything I have ever read says Panasonic is #1 in terms of plasma (with the exception of Pioneer -$$$). My Dad has a 58" Panasonic plasma and I can verify it is amazing - movies, games, sports, etc. The only games I have tried on it were from a PS3. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune on that tv is the best looking game I have ever seen. I played through the whole thing and was still in awe of the graphics by the end.

Some people are weary of buying large items online, i don't really understand why, You can save quite a few bucks ordering online.

I would really suggest you consider buying online. If you are really worried about it just find an online vendor that has a good return policy like Amazon.

You have nothing to worry about, if the box your tv comes in is all banged up for whatever reason you just simply refuse it and they will send you another one. Besides, Amazon is usually very good with returns.

If you sit close to your tv when gaming you will want a 1080p plasma. YOu don't want to see the nasty SDE at 3-4 ft gaming on a Panny Plasma. Panny Plasmas have some of the lowest input lags on plasma but some people see more phosphor trails on them (I don't though) than Samsung. The Panny will have the better IR resistant screen, the Samsung more advanced picture settings to tweak.

I was asking myself the same question today while shopping for a bedroom TV. It will probably get mostly blu-ray action, but could get some PS3 use. BB had the Samsung and the X1 next to each other on the wall, and my girlfriend and I both thought the Samsung looked a lot better. The images on the X1 were a bit fuzzy around the outside. Maybe a bad source? All of the other TV's up there looked pretty clean though.

Based upon that, I would have bought the Samsung. Yet I've read too many glowing reviews of Panny Plasmas to blow the X1 off. I know the S1 is a better screen, but I am trying to keep costs down as much as possible. I figure for a bedroom the 720p should be good enough.

So I think I'm going to get the Samsung. How is the input lag when compared to the Panasonic?

Have had the samsung for a few months, no imput lag or motion blur. I usually play a lot of first person shooters or racing games... no problems there. BUT I started playing magic the gathering, and after a few hours major image retention. I imagine any plasma will do this. For those that don't know, its a card game and the screen does not really change much. After multiple hours of watching regular tv or other gaming, it went away.

It was mostly not noticeable unless the show was showing lots of white or your face got up really close to the screen.

Just pray that you don't get a buzzer. Also, hope that you never have any serious problem with the set that would require you to call Samsung Customer Service, they are by far the worse.

Other than that, enjoy your set and inferior black levels compared to the Panny.

For gaming i defiantly suggest panasonic over samsung as samsungs are more prone to image retention which your using for gaming you will have to deal with here and there

You guys are so pathetic you're amusing.
Here's one for you. At least the Sammy owner knows his set will turn on with little worries. Panny owners are never sure if their set will ever turn on.

Who else are you referring to when you say "You guys"? you quoted me, and i am only one person.

I just stated facts, Samsung does have poor customer service (from personal experience) and their Plasma's can't compete with Panasonic or a Pioneer when it comes to black level. (Fact) However, Samsung Plasma's do have more accurate color when properly calibrated.

Did you know that Panasonic has been named as ‘the most consistently reliable brand" Their build quality on their Plasma sets are top notch. Every brand has their lemons. I think anyone who purchases a new TV and turns it on for the first time has that worry that it might not, regardless of the brand.

My TV could beat up your TV.

The musicians I listen to are so underground they haven't even heard of themselves.
