Any display 42" or over it is definitely in-home. I don't remember what the low-end is for what the size has to be, but for this it would definitely be in-home.

I haven't looked into the squaretrade warranty thing. Is this something that is purchased separately and from a different store or do you have to get it from the place you buy your TV? Also, can you buy it after you bought the TV (how long after if so...) I was also wondering how much these run. Thanks!

squaretrade.com

Just fill in the required fields and get a warranty quote. You can usually find coupon codes on your favorite deal sites for anywhere from 20-40% off the warranty. As long as it's retail with the full manuf. warranty and a receipt, they'll cover it.

Cracked Screen
Dead Pixels
Buzzing

A cracked screen is pretty easy to check, just open the box and inspect the screen, but will the delivery people let me plug it in and hook up a dvd player to make sure EVERYTHING is in working order? Also if the info helps right now I plan on making the purchase from Vann's (as it seems by the time the room is ready VE will no longer have their Pixel Perfect package).

I'm really just confused about what happens if I find a Dead Pixel. Even if I find something as small as one dead pixel, I can decide to have them ship it back and try for another unit?
I'm just so use to Best Buy fighting me tooth and nail with returns for anything.

I thought I read somewhere (perhaps in this thread) that another Vann's purchaser was able to return their TV after discovering a dead pixel. That's better than what a forum sponsor offered me earlier in the year. As far as being made responsible for return shipping costs, I don't recall what was said.

Consider me 'slow' but I just saw on the Value Electronics site, that they only ship to places with-in a 200 mile radius of their store? Is that an old policy? Because I am smack dead center in the middle of america and nowhere near NY.

Axis343, I believe that only applies to shipping for their delivery van.
They will ship all over the US via other shipping methods.

Oh, that sounds great! The wording on their website had me confused because it sounded like that was the only way they would ship it. Whew.

I really like their 'Pixel perfect' package and it would have been a bummer if I had to remove them from my potential seller list.

Right now I'm looking into the prospect of getting 151, but if that falls through I'm 99% certain I'll be getting the 500m from VE.

You better move quick, D-Nice posted that VE may stop taking orders around 11/15. They may be running low, maybe call them and see.

They changed the date again on their site it seems. Final D-Nice calibration is set for 12/12.

Does he calibrate ALL the 'Pixel Perfect' sets or just the ones that order the 'D-Nice customized deal'?

Only the deal listed as "D-Nice customized deal".

Hey, thanks for clarifying that! I know I should probably call VE and ask all my questions on the phone, and I will do so this weekend. But I quess I should just ask and see if you can help me-

It says "Final D-Nice Calibration date is 12/12" is that only for your end of the deal? Or will they stop selling the 'Pixel Perfect' deal as well?

And I'm a little confused, it says you will call and do a customized calibration, but how can that be done over the phone I thought calibrations usually involved special meters and equipment?

If you can't answer any of these, I understand. But thank you anyway in advance

I was thinking about buying the 600M from AVinDemand.com , but after reading some posts about their possible shadiness I changed my mind.

I can't find this member Elite-Home website or contact info. Could anybody help me please? Thx .

My understanding of the Value Electronics calibrations is that he gathers information directly from you about your viewing environment and then calibrates the display as he normally does, using his equipment in the usual manner.

Just to update everyone, I was looking at a 151 at a local store but they informed me that all their new sets had been sold. And I didn't feel too comfortable buying a used TV that's been running for 8-16 months.
So instead I recently placed an order for a 500m from Value Electronics! Got the Pixel Perfect deal, so now I am waiting for them to do the break-in and calibration. Ugh, the wait is going to be killer.

I'd like to thank everyone who helped me and gave me advice. Very much appreciated. I figure with the break-in and shipping and time off for holidays- I'll probably get the set around the first or second week of December. I can't wait to be a part of the official owners forums and the picture thread

Can you send me the same info? Is VE the best place to order a 500m?
