Hmmm, tempting.

I'm leaning towards the LG60550 but am waiting on reviews.

Are there any reviews on the G20 yet? I haven't looked thru this entire thread so sorry if it's already been posted.

I could be to Sears, back home and hooked up before dinner.

you would have to order it for store pick-up... but they should be in stock soon. but maybe your local Sears stores have them in stock now... not around Boston, MA. though.

Does the power supply regulate these floating blacks?

Tell them you would rather get a check instead. I just went through the warranty issue with Panasonic and they gave me a check instead

The floating blacks on any set will look worse in a dark room. The more light the less annoying it is.

I was going to return my Sony EX700 but I think I may hold on to it and get a Samsung instead.

Well they credited the value of the tv back to the store & I have to return it there. I can buy another brand but I didn't see anything I liked to be honest. I'm too leery of quality issues to buy a Samsung not that I think Panny is perfect by any stretch either. Cripes don't any of these GD reviewers ever see any of this stuff when they review these sets?

I'd be curious to know what folks think of the Viera Cast widgets.

Also, is the weather function on it from Weather Channel, Accu Weather or someone else? Thanks

I don't see any indication of who provides the data for the weather widget, but it does look very nice!

I really like Pandora on the TV...and YouTube is very cool. What I'm really waiting for is Netflix, however.

As far as floating blacks I can say I didn't see anything when watching te hurt locker but like I said before there aren't many dark scenes in that film.

When I toggle the super white option on the xmb I don't see any immediate changes so it not clear to me what this option does.

Isn't Amazon video comparable to Netflix?

I assume that any Viera CAST addition to the G25 would be pretty much universal to every Viera CAST-enabled device.

I have no problem with Amazon video.

Netflix is subscription based isn't amazon pay per view?
But netflixs' streamable content isn't very extensive.

I have netflix but I don't stream much.

Just ordered the 54G25 earlier today. Awaiting shipping confirmation. I'll have pictures/info once it arrives. Let me know if there's anything in particular you want me to get.

Also, I plan to do an initial break-in... I guess run everything in stretch-ish mode, etc. Any quick guidelines I might have skipped over in the threads as a refresher would be great! Thanks

Why do floating blacks only happen on DVDs and Blu-rays? All my video games for 360 and PS3 do not have this problem nor does regular cable.

I tried doing a google search and the only thing that comes up is this thread. Cant be a commen thing.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you meant break-in, not burn-in =). If you want the evenly aging pixels slides method, go here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1232441. But I think you may mean burn-in IR prevention breakdown. In that case, yes, do lower contrast (not above 50%) run everything stretched, and light any bars 4:3 or wide in case to gray. And try avoid solid contrasty logos and scroll bars (like news channels) for TOO long; I wouldnt say have to avoid all together.

Finished watching boondock saints bd and I can't say I saw floating blacks. Had it set to default thx and zoom aspect ratio, I doubt the aspect ratio really matters but just thought I'd mention it (still a little paranoid about watching anything with black bars)

The only audio output on the Panasonics is digital optical. Up till a few years ago all of their models had analog audio out, but no more. Panasonics haven't had a headphone jack since 2004, and that's the last year they had Variable Audio Output too.

The only way an external speaker system or sound bar will work with the TV is if it (A.) has a digital optical input, and (B.) it has it's own volume control.

Anyone noticing a good bit of noise on HD broadcasts (Directv specifically) on a G20/25? I've been watching the NCAA tournament on my 50G20 and I'm seeing more noise than I expected, especially when panned in on a player running down the court and the crowd behind him is very noisy/blurry. I've also noticed some banding/posterization in color gradations on many channels. Does this sound like a defective set or just typical of all the compression of HD over satellite?

I didn't notice any IR afterward. Just lower the contrast in the beginning while watching regular TV and it should be fine.

Here is D-Nice's thread about setting the slides/getting them: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1232441

Why isn't as clear; to evenly age all pixels on the set. It isn't for Burn-In/IR prevention. However that does not really explain WHY. This post I find very easy to understand and explains the slides process as to why ppl do it in the first 100hrs (links sends you right to post): http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...4#post16016324

I assume you've probably reached 100hr by now if you watch a lot of TV; so, not really as beneficial to run the slides now far as I'd know.

I would only do it if you were going to use D-Nice's settings but to follow his method you only have slides play during the first 100 hours at specified settings. Otherwise just watch the tv & keep settings a little low & don't watch too much content with black bars. Using common sense when viewing for the first 100 hours is all you need to do. I watched movies with black bars from day 1 & XBOX 360 gamed too. Nothing was as problem from doing this.

I just completed cancelling my 54G25 order due to A) the fraudulent increase (over $100) in the purchase price I experienced after submitting my order via the PanasonicDirect EPP web site and B) this wonderful floating blacks issue that I'm sure would drive me up the wall if I go through with buying the PoJ.

Maybe they'll get it right next year...
